is a crowded town. the weather is a bit cold at night and slightly warm during the day. be prepared to stay awake early as the Quran recitation and call for prayer is started as early as 5 am from few mosque around the city and can be heard clearly.

You can see the Ngarai Sianok, House of Bung Hatta (one of Indonesian founding father), Japanese Tunnel, Gadang Clock and if you have much time you can visit the near cities/places like Harau Valley, Maninjau Lake, Singkarak Lake, Pandai Singkek (fashion and handcraft) and Mountains.
You can walk to the left to reach Fort De Kock and zoo. Then continue to Pasar Atas and the Big Ben. After that, you can walk to The Hills hotel, climbing down some stairs to reach Taman Panorama.
