Where to stay in Chiangkhan
Chiangkhan hotels & accommodations

- It was a great time visiting ChiangKhan in rainy season. - The hotel has no refrigerator in room but you can leave at the lobby. - I don't like a pillow, it's too soft. - No need to open the Air-Conditioner. - You can borrow a bicycle for free but it has only 2. - The water pressure is great!! I enjoy showering :) - Staffs are very friendly and very nice.

We had a great time at Chiangkhan River Mountain Resort. We are family with young kid. Even though we stayed only one night at this hotel, everything was impressive. To start with, we got free upgraded to the bigger room with more beautiful view of the river. The hotel staff was very nice, helpful and polite. That was one of the best points of the hotel. The room itse...

This hotel is comfortable & traditional like home, design to oldie Thai house & classic. Locate on main road of Chiangkhan. In the morning you'll meet the best feeling from many things ex. weather , culture , food. You can ride around city by bike. I think you will like this hotel & want to come again!

First of all, in Chiangkhan you can have a broad selection of guesthouses in romantic wooden houses with Mekong view for little money. However, personally I try to avoid mosquitos and other insects as much as possible so we chose one of the few 'real' hotels, even though it is a little bit far away from the main street and pricier as well. Because in Chiangkhan everyth...

The hotel itself and its facilities are perfect for couples, the location is very near to Chiangkhan Night Market and also on the bank of Khong River, so you can enjoy the scenery of the river together with the atmosphere of Chiangkhan community at the same time. However, during my stay at the hotel, the public pavement along Khong River was under construction which c...

We stayed in this hostel on the second night of our trip in Chiangkhan. The location is great. We can see Mekong river clearly from our room. There are restaurants nearby so finding food is not an issue. Plus, the owner is also very kind. She let us checkout late due to our late flight in the afternoon. Comparing with other hotels we stayed, we like this one most. High...

It was great they have no noice wonderfoll garden nice color on the building breakfast was small but very good it was inaff not lång way to the city and not lång way to a leg with market great market and everything in loei is sheep and good kvalite We want to go back to this Hotel and this aria.

Had the deluxe mountain view and it was just stunning! Beautiful to see the moon and sun rise. Would go back again. The cleanliness isn't the best, dust on furniture and room, shower had mold. But not an issue with the views that were available. The food was good and the staff was friendly and its located about 10-15 minutes from downtown.

Hotel staff very friendly.we walk to old town street.Bycicle free of charge. You can cycleling as much as you can.hotel bld had build like old building style. Enjoy to the riverview back side of the hotel.Local style breakfast.high reccomend hotel in chiangkhan.

Having read the comments we decided to book the Peony room, which is upstairs overlooking the Mekong river. It is a wonderful room which we recommend you to book if free. The location of the guesthouse is ideal at the start of walking street in the northern end. All within reach but still quiet so you can enjoy the view from your balchony. The guesthouse provides fre...

We stayed in third floor suite. Very nice large room and bathroom with spectacular tub. Only a hand shower, no regular shower. They could use some towel racks but hooks suffice. They could also use a second beside table. The bed is the most comfortable I've experienced in Thailand, where they are usually too hard. Great balcony overlooking walking street and view of Me...

We're very happy about the size of the room, it was huge! and it was also very clean and full facilities. One little problem that occurred was the parking place for our car. We had to park our car at the other guesthouse which owned by the same owner and walked to this hotel, the walking distance was 1/4 of a mile but if you traveled there with a car then make you have...

We stayed here 3 nights, very happy at this place, felt like home. P'Kung the owner, took really good care of us, she gave us many information about where to go, what to eat, what to do at Chiangkhan. Nestled in the heart of Chiangkhan, we feel this place is closed to everything we need, close to walking street, local food shop, temples, 7/11. Every evening, we just re...

we arrived there early morning, but couldn't get into the room until 2pm. if your trip wasn't planned very well, you may ask from the reception, the tourist map or the chiangkhan guidebook are available for guests to borrow. the hotel has little balcony just next to lobby that you can sitting there, reading some nice book or even have a nap.

An interesting wooden hotel of a type that used to be common in Thailand but which have all but disappeared today. Small rooms, but spotless: comfortable bed and good sizes bathroom. Recommended. About Chiangkhan: I went to run the marathon. Why anyone would want to go there otherwise is beyond me. The term “tourist trap” seems appropriate.

Resort is just opne on Dec 2012 so condistion is very good. I got very good service from resort's owner. At mornig time, I got resort was covered by fog with bit cold. That is very fresh for me. This resort suit for customer that have private car only due to it far from walking street around 15 mins. This resort was located at the middle way to ...

enjoyed our 2 nights stay at tao kae lao. the friendly young couple owner goes all out to serve us during our leisure 2 nights stay there including arranging for a half day tour around chiangkhan as well as ferrying us to buy bus tickets back to bangkok! great service!

The breakfast is from the shop next door which sell noodle/porridge and it's very basic. The room it's self clean and nice. Location is right in the night market and it's so much fun during night and early morning for morning alms. The owner is so friendly and helpful. I gave value for money only 3 out of 5 stars due to I feel it's a bit expensive. But I guess, many ho...

We book for 2 rooms (villa and standard ) . Room is clean , comfy bed but the location quit far , breakfast was ok , the nature around is beautiful If you are looking for somewhere quite , here is a good choice but if you are looking somewhere close to main street and restaurants ,here is little bit far for you

Easy to find with a car park nearby...location is excellent in the middle of all activities and next to the river...Rooms excellent ...a/c TV etv Staff very helpfull and efficient...Ols World Wood Thai hotel but superb Breakfast is coffee, toast , egg omlette with pork slivers but good. RECOMEND

Great little spot, as close to the Mekong as you can get. My room overlooked the river, a little dated, but functional. Cozy, honey feel to it, although some difficulties communicating with staff when the owner was not about. Would recommend and stay here again

We had a very great time there. My BF got an accident there and the owner were very kind to us and take a very good care for us. We really appreciated. The room was very clean and the atmosphere was very good. They also have a nice coffee shop and a little gallery downstairs. Also they cordially answer and explain us for every question. I can not say that This is the b...

I had a well sleep at the hostel just make me feel like home. The hotelier got me impressed taking a very good care of me and my sister. It's just only 3 minutes walking to walking street. Definitely, I will be staying here when I come Chiangkhan next time. If anybody ask me suggest an accommodation in Chiangkhan, Capsule Hostel will be my first answer.
Cheap places to stay in Chiangkhan

We stayed for 300 baht for 1 night. Great value and highly recommended. Caveat is no A/C, so its hot during the late morning to evening, which is when we were out exploring anyways. Second caveat is the room on the 2nd floor is quite far away from the toilet/shower which is located near restaurant, 50 meters away in another building, so late night trips to the toilet m...

Location for the hotel is good, but not close to Chiang Khan Walking Street. Enough restaurants close by and no need to go more expensive restaurants around Walking Street. Family room big enough for four. If go to Chiang Khan again, this will be a good place to stay. There was a possibility to use bicycles and place owner gave good advice for everything to do, see and...

i luuurve this this gh ; owner/staff in charge were all kind and friendly. the rooms were decorated/furnished in a good taste of "boraan = traditional" way. free wi-fi, bathrooms, kitchen facility, rental bikes, etc., were all nicely maintained. i will surely go back this place, partly because i left behind one of my wallets (!) while in a hurry checking out, which how...

The place is alright comparable to price paid. But bed and pillow are hard solid. Worst part was the water heater was broken the whole time we stay, i had to take cold shower whole time i stayed there. Howerver staff was helpful and friendly, hotel location was great

we booked two rooms at this guesthouse. due to serious and potentially disasterous navigation errors we were unable to meet our reservations. when we arrived a day later, we were expecting and willing to pay for another night. the landlady graciously offered us the rooms with no additional charge. our rooms were in a separate building from the main guesthouse. they ar...

The owner was so nice and friendly, he actually not always in the house but you can call him by the phone number he wrote and show in front of his home. This home locate in the centre of ChiangKhan so you can find food around here anytime you want. ChanKhiang has 2 little cute black cats walking around and sleep beside you at the lobby. This home is super comfy! You ca...

The location is not on the walking street even if not that far from it. Facilities are quite new and clean. The main downside of the place is it's owner. He promised to arrange a pickup service in the early morning but no pickup and no owner himself show up at all.

enjoyed our 2 nights stay at tao kae lao. the friendly young couple owner goes all out to serve us during our leisure 2 nights stay there including arranging for a half day tour around chiangkhan as well as ferrying us to buy bus tickets back to bangkok! great service!

I would not recommend this hotel to westerners purely based on the bed which was like concrete, the hardest yet in Thailand. The room was ok, hosts very sweet but had much better rooms for less money. On a good note the place was quiet and about 20 min walk to walking street for great street food.

Really lovely clean tidy resort. Simple but thoughtful extras. Very nice garden to relax In. Probably the best sleep we have had in Thailand. A little way out of town but they offer free bycicles or you can rent a motorbike. Much quieter than town here. A very good experience and great value.

Could be noises if busy, comfortable bed, clean, No bugs or no smells. Basic but everything functioned. Coffee and hot water at front in an open hut near reception. Didn't tell me about it until I asked. Parking. Small room, has sufficient power powers. Thai tv channels but I found CNN and France 24. 3km from town center. Big c 2 km away. No restaurants nearby. Would ...

We stayed in a Family room overlooking the swimming pool which was fine. The hotel restaurant is in a lovely setting overlooking Kaeng Kud Ku rapids/whirlpool and the Mekong river. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was OK but the breakfast could maybe do with a bit of variation. Opposite the hotel there is a shopping area which includes a restaurant an...

The hotel is about 1km east from the center of Chiang Khan but you can walk straight out of the hotel and be walking along the Mekong in about 3 minutes. It's a nice walk into town and takes you through a nice riverside park as you approach town. It looks like they have some bicycles available at the hotel, but we enjoyed the 25 minute walk. The young couple that r...

Tiny village along with Khong river (natural border between Thai and Laos) is perfect place for lover because they can hold-hand walking on terrace next by river and this village perfect for family and friends because you can take a boat for sightseeing in Khong river, shopping at night market (there 're a lot of cool & cute souvenir in cheap price).
A recommended place for relaxation and for nature. enjoy the cool weather in Dec. Easy access via Loei and visits many places by cycling
it is very interesting place to go, where you can find very friendly local people, all day dining, you can go to local food shop, find something to eat at very cheap price.
The town itself is most attractive and olde world style, with al fresco restaurants on the pavement overlooking the River Mekong below.
Don't miss to walk on walking street and Buddhist monk's alms bowl in the morning. Sunset time also very nice on boat trip along the Mae Klong River.
Its a small fascinating city and is worth staying long. Phu Thork is the place you can't miss for eyeing the top scenic view of Mekhong river with sea of fog.
Small, lovely, old city by the Mae Kong River. Nice local food. Great place to live a slow life amid very friendly locals.
I would recommend it as a quiet getaway for a romantic couple weekend or for families with older kids, however without transport I wouldn't stay more than a couple of nights.
Shoul visit Chiangkhan in period of mid of November till beginning of February, you will get nice cold weather.
Quiet, small, self-sufficient city. very good for slow-life traveling or relaxation. Experiencing traditional sticky rice offering to monks is a must.
The river front area has a lot of old and new wooden houses. The promenade and the road that runs parallel are virtually vehicle-free, something that is very rare in Thailand.
I've been to Chiang Khan many times and over the years it has grown from a very boring Thai town into a Thai tourist destination.
Khan city to stay for a long as possible. With many cultural similarities with Laos. Enabling cultural worth to experience that.
It likes stepping back to the old time of Thailand 50 years ago. The atmosphere here is about the same as Laung Prabang in Laos.
Vintage look business, with cool weather. A little artificial, and could be found at Suan Root Fai at Chatuchak, so we did not spend too much time in there.
Good scenery (in my case, unrivaled DRIVING experience in terms of gorgeous scenery offered on the way) fine dining, nice & friendly people, among all !!
