Where to stay in Khao Lak
Khao Lak hotels & accommodations

Location of Khao Lak is a bit out of the way - it is about 100 kms to the north (on the mainland) from Phuket Airport. Currently taxi operators charge around 1600 baht to get you to Khao Lak. Return trip is 2000 baht ex the hotel. The resort itself is at the end of the "strip" of shops/restaurants etc. that make up the township of Khao Lak, and is well signposted. ...

The location of this resort is great. Fantastic beach, close to the two main areas in Khao Lak but still keeping it private and quiet. The family room is great with its double rooms makes it ideal for families with little kids who want to have some space. Our girls loved to have their own space too and had all their toys and books in the second room. Things that can b...

We went to vacation at this hotel in Khao Lak and had a blast. The room was so clean and spacious. Great housekeeping services, spreading of flower petals around the bed on the second day. Love it!! Eat-all-you-can breakfast and have plenty choices of it. Definitely recommend to friends and families and will come back again if I visit to Khao Lak. We had a great t...

The Casa de la Flora is a design hotel with a modern design and modern equipment. The hotel and the garden are very "straight" without the usual Thai style. The hotel is located directly at the beach; restaurants and shops are within walking distance, and Khao Lak center can be reached with a local taxi in 10 minutes. We had a Duplex Pool Suite with two floors. Living ...

We spent 2 weeks at the Haven for our honeymoon and 2 weeks was not enough. From the most amazing pool you will ever see to the beautiful buffet breakfast everyday to lounging by our own pool in our pool access room the Haven is perfect for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and simply relax. I suggest spending the extra for a pool access r...

Sensimar is a nice hotel with 4+ star facilities and a great staff. But you should be aware that it is not an independent hotel but rather part of a German chain based in Hanover Germany. It is a high volume tourist mill filled with middle aged tourists most of whom are there on package tours. We were there at the end of the season and it was still very full. Bre...

After trying other hotels in Khao Lak area, we really missed the friendly environment of Ayara Villa. The staff was sincerely happy to see us again, they want to teach us Thai language. We got the same Twin Bungalow in the garden area. This time we had a problem with the hot water, it didn`t work but it was solved within half an hour. Maybe the maintenance of the resor...

We stayed for 9 nights, our room was very spacious and clean. You can tell the hotel has been revamped recently, but they put a lot of effort in it. Our room was in the main building, facing the pool and featuring a large balcony with additional racks to hang wet clothes and towels (pool/beach towels were provided). Breakfast was simple, but enough and tasty (mix of c...

on arrival we were greeted with smiles and a welcome drink. our room was very comfortable with a great bed. the resort has been well cared for and the grounds are well maintained. we received a free 15 minute massage treatment at their highly awarded spa...very nice. all other spa treatments seemed great, but too costly. khao lak is a short taxi ride away for about...

khaolak emerald beach resort & spa is located in khao lak on the private beach of khao lak phang-nga facing the andaman sea. we booked “superior garden view room” (upgraded to “grand family room”) for total and stayed there with my family for 3 nights during my business trip on congress being held in same resort. it is ideal retreat for older couples and families with ...

I have stayed in other 5 star hotels in Khao Lak and Sentido is right up there. Its a bit far from the town in case you need to escape the hotel but you can rent a scooter for BHT300 which solves this problem. Do not hestitate to stay at the Sentido you wont be dissapointed! One of my top 10 hotels.

I picked up this hotel because it looked stylish and it did stands true to its reputation. Finding the true entrance at the back of the hotel is a little tricky for taxi coming from outside Khao Lak but it's only a matter of asking. The location is great, close to restaurants and a 5 mins walk to the beach. The rooms are spacious and with a large balcony. There is ...

The hotel itself is very nice. Not too many rooms, nice furnishings, pool, beachfront, excellent butler service, etc. They are ahead of the curve with several things: we really enjoyed the breakfast policy, since it extends to 6pm. One day we left early in the morning, so we skipped breakfast, but we were back around 6pm and still enjoyed a plentiful, hot meal when we ...

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely fantastic. It's located about 1km out of Khao Lak, so the place is quiet and surrounded with gardens and palm trees. It has two pools and a private access to the beach (sunset beach, if it's not cloudy you can see really nice sunsets from the beachfront). We booked a mountain view room and got upgraded to a deluxe room, which wa...

We stay after 2 years again, in the JW Marriott and we would recomend it everytime again. We stay this time 4 weeks in different Hotels in Khao Lak ( Katilia - JW Marriot - Mukdara) but the best is JW Marriott, even the expensiest one! The BEST Breakfast wich we had in Thailand is in JW Marriot and believe me, we try a lot of Hotels in Thailand because we travel a lo...

Best beach in Khao Lak without a doubt ! It may be a short ride into town, but what is really in Khao Lak town ?? Not much that we were interested in ! The night market is in Bang Nieng (excuse the spelling) which isn't far and a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to stay there, Kantary was just brilliant ! to be honest, it is a bit rough around the edges, it is...

This small resort is situated in a beautiful and well-kept garden close to a quiet, dead-end street parallel to the beach. Take a few steps around the corner, and you are in the middle of everything in Khao Lak. G&N opened in November 2012. It is spotless, clean, well-run and has a quiet and laid-back familiar atmosphere. The bungalows are somewhat basic, but clean...

We took a normal double room and we got upgraded to a pool villa and it was so nice! The room was full of little details and it was just awesome to have a pool only for us... Altough jacuzzi in the pool was "broken" (or they were just too lazy to turned it on). The bathroom is huge, full of light, there is a bath and two showers: an indoor and an outdoor one, which is ...

The facility was nice. Khao Lak itself is not fully ready for prime time. The roads are narrow and have a lot of potholes so driving is a bit difficult. The outside restaurants are hit or miss, but we had a nice dinner at the Steak Night Grill afterwards at Chongfah. The units directly on the waterfront are particularly desirable

Loved this hotel, staff were so genuine and the most nicest people ever. Breakfast was good, location was good only 10 min walk to the village bangniang and taxi ride for around 250bht to town which is a bit further I think too long to walk. Chong Fah waterfall about 7km away , well Worth a visit. White Sand beach is the Nicest beach we thought but again taxi ride away...

We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of the low season so it was pretty quiet but that suited us perfectly, It is in a quiet location out of Khao Lak anyway. There are lots of nice beaches close by. Better if you have your own transport but there are bicycles as well. Nice included breakfast and the pools are big and clean. Big rooms with balconies and comfy be...

we had a wery nice stay at the kib, after tre days in kata/karon area we traveled up to khao lak and to the kib, witch is on a small island abot 20 mins.from khao lak. it's a realy nice hotel with great pools and a lovely beach without to many people and lots of spase ;) if you're intersted in loud city life this is not for you, but if you're loking for total relaxati...

If you really want to get away for a few days and be pampered in isolation, this is the perfect resort. Located on an 11km private beach in Khao Lak, this place was great down to every detail. Food was amazing, every appointment was provided for us, they even sent a car to pick us up at our previous hotel 2 hours away. You can customize your stay from the basic up t...
Cheap places to stay in Khao Lak

We was here at February 2016 and it´s really cheap. In that time it was the cheapest place in Khao Lak :) So we don´t have any expectations. We have small double room with small window to corridor. Best at our stay was terrace with hammocks with view to river/pond and many trees. Terrace have some good energy, so you will ignore noisy cars from street. Place is really ...

Stayed here one night before leaving Khao Lak. The place in very clean and well maintaided, shower and wi-fi work even better than in some resorts. The best thing is the manager, who also manages the Meeting point @ Khao Lak agency. He speaks excellent english and can offer professional and easy going assistance as travel agent, local guide, exchange office... an proba...

The Riverside Guesthouse is one of the accomodations in Khao Lak wich has affordable and clean rooms for travelers. In the Restaurant you get tasty and cheap thaifood compared to other Restaurants in Khao Lak. The service is realy profesionell. When you have any problems with the room or a rented Motorcycle you can be sure that they fix it as soon as possible. We en...

Positive: +Really clean rooms, all spaces (room, bathroom, common spaces) felt really clean and tidy. +Comfortable beds and real duvets. +The staff were so nice and sweet, you could get help with anything. (Really nice) + Good location. Really close to the local market, several mini marts and plenty of good restaurants. Not far to walk to/from the beach. . Everyt...

Booked double room, 2 months before stay, given a twin with the option of moving 7 days into stay. Balcony overlooks grubby "garden area". Shower pressure useless. Electric tripped in are room and was repaired quickly by shorting key switch. Booked airport "taxi" with hotel for 04.00am to be told "taxi" would cost more(1700 baht). Well girl on desk drove us in her car,...

We spend 7 days, it's not easy to find good place in Khao lak, nice beaches are in diferent places and taxi is super expensive, the best option is to have a scooter, but if you don't have this possibility and you don't want to spend to much money and sleep in beach resort, this area it's really good From this place 3 min and you will find a lot of cheap restaurants an...

Can't rate this place high enough. the rooms were clean, good clean bathroom & shower. Towels, shower gel & soap provided. Also kitchen facilities which is a first for me whilst travelling Thailand. The owner kok was amazing the whole time, really friendly and helpful in organising me scooter rental, restaurant suggestions & bus out of khao lak! 30 minutes after I chec...

I stayed in the Fasai House in December 2014 for five nights and loved it - the rooms are cozy and air conditioned, the bed is comfortable and the shower has warm, running water. It is not a five-star resort, but you get a clean and comfortable room that is much better than the two stars the hotel gives itself. Fasai House is located 100 m off the main road in Khao lak...

We really enjoyed our stay here - the rooms were very clean and well maintained (especially by Thai standards). They were simple but had everything you needed. The staff were very friendly although not all of them spoke English. The manager who spoke English was very helpful and friendly. The German style breakfast was huge and very tasty - there was enough br...

- Location: We stayed in Khao Lak to do a snorkeling and/or diving tour to the Similan Islands. Youth Club was ideal for that, all the diving centers are only 50-100 meters away. The beach in Khao Lak is also not far, approximately 5 minuten walking, but 'this' beach is not special. Further away is a white sand beach which we did not go to. - Rooms: the (double/twin)...

This place is brandnew, very clean and comfortable. The room is well equipped even with shower gel and shampoo, a flat screen TV and drinking water. However I did not like that there was no TV and therefore found it a bit expensive with THB 1300 per night - the room was very small and we really could only stay in to sleep. For my very last night in Khao Lak I found a p...

Great budget hotel with close proximity to eateries, Mcdonal is juz 200 metres away.... lots of local eateries within walking distance. The downside of this hotel is swimming pool is too cold for swim if u from northern europe u might be able to go down for a dip. Water pressure for bathing is too small for a nice bath other than that everything is great, there is a sm...

A really great place! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is located close to the sea (10 - 15 minutes walk) and in the center of Khao Lak. A lot of nice cafes and bars around. If you stay at Rakkawan or in Khao Lak try Captain Bar - they have really nice cocktails for a good price. The room was very clean and quite big. We just loved our stay there...

White Cat wasn't our original Khao Lak destination, but after being dissatisfied with our intended place, we made the switch to Khao Lak. A great option for 2 single girls - close to shops & restaurants, a reasonable walk to the beach. There was some language related confusion at check in and while we'd reserved 2 twin beds we ended up with one big bed. The room was...

I came to Khao Lak not entirely sure of what I would do and ended up booking a liveaboard dive trip. I had already booked and paid for two nights, but the lady at the hotel was kind enough to allow me to move my second night due to my dive trip so I was able to stay a night before and after the trip. Great customer service!! The place is run by a family...they are not ...

Monkey Dive Hostel is a clean and lovely hostel in the heart of Khao Lak. The beds were among the most comfortable I ever slept in in Thailand, and the design of the hostel is pretty cool with the underwater theme. Met a lot of fellow divers here and some lovely non-diving people. The staff is super helpful and friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel at ...

Excellent value for your tourist dollars. Has attention to details and cleanliness. Modern & clean line construction. Location convenient, on throughout fare running through town, easy access to the beach, but safe height from potential tsunami. Like in-house kitchen & chef, superb cooking, with extensive menu and resonable price, stock of local cold beers.....lau...

this is a great option for a budget hotel in khao lak. front desk staff were terrific and upgraded my room at arrival. my only complaint about this hotel is that they do not have safe deposit boxes in the room. they do offer safety boxes at the front desk but they are very small and cannot accommodate a tablet computer which is very short sighted on the owners part s...

Nice and big rooms. Location is good; less than 10 minutes to the beach by foot. Lots of restaurants nearby. Good breakfast. Staff is super friendly. The owner, Kai, is the best! She is just amazing person and so helpful :) When in Khao Lak, I will definitely choose Casacool again!

If you want to get away from the city this is definitely a place for you! Quite, surrounded by forest and fields - you will love it! Big (enough) houses, simple breakfast, friendly staff. You will need a car or motorbike to get to the beach. PS. Please feed white-and-black dog :)

We are cycling touring on a budget and so for £12 a night this place was fine. We've had better and worse! Room was clean, towels were provided. There was good wifi, aircon and a fridge. It is not located on Takua Pa Old Town, this is about 10km away. Big C market is a short walk from the hotel. We were allowed to lock our bikes up under the stairs which was kind and u...

The hotel is very well located and easy to find. We stayed for 3 nights in mid November, the staff was very nice and they arranged 2 day trips for us. I would definitely recommend booking with them - we did Similan islands with Check In Andaman (the best company) and Khao Sok lake day trip with William. We had twin bed room and it was very spacious and clean. I felt ...

I really like this hotel. It is centrally positioned in a very quiet location just off the main road running through Khao Lak. It has about 10 to 15 smaller rooms and 12 larger villas set in lovely large nature garden of 3 or 4 acres, and a very nice swimming pool with shade.. The hosts are really helpful and attentive. Breakfast is basic but fine. Everything ...

Great place in Khao Lak. Need motorbike to see round. Best beaches up north Khuk khaki beach coconut beach white sand beach and bang sang all brilliant. Cleanliness of room is fantastic and great staff. Would def return. Stayed in standard room and it was excellent.

The rooms are big and clean the bathtub is awesome, there is just one thing I noticed. If you are not that flexible and in general, the bathtub is built very high up. It's difficult to get in and out. So especially for elderly people impossible. There should be something to step on and it would be perfect. A bit outside town, but no problem you need a bike anyway in Kh...

Summer House 2 is the newer of the 2 Summer House Hotel in The Bang Niang Beach area of Khao Lak. The rooms are a good size with big beds and modern Bathroom. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the bea...

Spent 5 nights wish we could have stayed more, hotel is fantastic great location right on beach lovely pools,we booked pool access rooms, on arrival the staff informed us that they had a large corporate booking so might be little bit noisy, so they suggested we move to garden view room closer to beach, room which was every bit as nice as pool access, and was very quit...

This resort has the best beach access on Khao Lak. We had a beach view villa that was the height of luxury with the layout, furnishings and view. The staff here gives outstanding service. They helped us get a reservation mistake that we had made fixed. Also got an Indian Motorcycle Thailand shirt from the Manager.

great resort. the owners had thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. staff very friendly. accommodation is excellent-really nice outdoor shower. Free bikes to cycle around the resort and to their private beach -5 minutes cycle max. The beach is long, follows the coast - you can walk down it and not see anyone. would definitely visit again. This was our second visit to Khao Lak and second stay at the Leaf. We had an upstairs chalet which we loved, because it has a gorgeous garden view. The location is very close to many shops, restaurants, travel agents all within walking distance which is important as Khao Lak is very spread out. The swimming pools never seem to be crowded and breakfast has good selecti...

I traveled with my wife and two young boys, expectations were high based on the 5 star rating. The room was ok, you could see the beach, barely, through the trees but unfortunately no bath tub. There were lots of mosquitoes and on our way back to the room they came driving by spraying insecticide without warning right in front of our kids. Internet access was great a...

This facility is next to the beach, a very short walk. It is not too far from Khao Lak, but far enough to provide peace and quiet. The food was ok, good quality and good price. Breakfast was ok, nothing fancy but more than adequate. Overall, we were quite impressed and will go back again.

We were there for a trip at National Park near there. The hotel is very cool because you booked one hotel but you can use facility of the neighbour's hotel which is from the same chain but it may be inconvenient a little bit but for me it's perfect. The staff are always pay attention to what we want. Lunch at the beach is

We had the best time here, we had 3 children from an orphanage we sponsor and they had a fantastic time. The staff were so friendly to them and went out there way to help. This has to be the best resort in Khao Lak , I know I will defiantly be back with the kids again. Thanks to everyone at Wanaburee Resort, Regards Stuart ( jimmy) 👍👍

Stayed here for 3 nights as I wanted to be close to the similan islands for a day trip. Great hotel, great location, excellent big clean pools. There is not much to do at night in khao lak but there are some nice quiet restaurants in town. The room and hotel was excellent. I would definitely recommend a day trip to similan islands.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Riverside Hotel and were impressed by much of what we saw. The hotel is owned and run by two Swiss gentlemen, Marcus and Bruno and you'd have to go a very long way to find two more hard working and hands on owners than these two. From crack of dawn and breakfast and cleaning the pool to evening time and entertaining guests Marcus...

Beautiful beachfront hotel on Koh Kho Khao. Takes about 2.5 hours to get to from Phuket airport. The ferry or long tail boat from the pier (only operates during daylight hours) takes 10 minutes. My bungalow was set amongst large, old palm trees which gave off a resonance to the past. The friendly owner basically gave me the keys & left me alone. This is not a resort where you can call room service for a cocktail. This is for the traveller who enjoys being surrounded by nature. I loved my stay here. I seriously miss the owls. You don’t have anyone in your f...

This was the best resort we stayed in our 3 week holiday and we stayed in 8 different resorts. The room is new and spacious with a large balcony with a nice view. There is a big bathroom with hot water shower. Good TV with usb function and a quiet and good working airco. But most of all the beds were the best we slept in. Nice swimmingpool were you can read a book in!...

One day we left early in the morning, so we skipped breakfast, but we were back around 6pm and still enjoyed a plentiful, hot meal when we ...

Even ...

We spent 4 nights here in Feb/March 2019 and I wish it had been longer. What a fabulous spot on a long stretch of deserted sand with stunning sunsets. Our room was a twin, 2 double beds, the most comfortable I’ve slept in this trip! Lovely big room, teak floor, lots of cupboard and drawer space, big bathroom, seating area, desk and large patio overlooking the garden. I...

normally I don't write comments for hotels, since the hotels I choose are all 5 stars and there are just good or meet expectations. This time 4 days in Ataman I would say we had good memory. The place is very quite, and facilities are in good condition. Not like the beach house we previously stayed, this one is not wet inside at all and it is not "noisy" at night. In a...

the housekeeping needs to improve. Every day we had to tell the staff to come and make up the room. they never came before 16.00. the bed were nice and comfortable. the waterpressure was bad up on the 5th floor. on the beach there were restaurants on both the left and right side. we recommend Thalay Thai near the beach because it was cheap and tasty. Amazing place to visit, very nice and relaxed with very friendly locals and a large array of restaurants nearby serving both local and international cuisine.
nothing much going around the area, but good area for just relaxing, also for those who goes to Simillan or Surin island.
Sure a great spot for family retreat for to recharge worn out batteries, highly recommended. seeking busy nightlife and bars go to Phukhet or Phattaya.
Sure a great spot for family retreat for to recharge worn out batteries, highly recommended. If you seeking busy nightlife and bars go to Phukhet or Phattaya
Have been there before but didn't like it, this time however I quite enjoyed the relaxation and was happy, still need transport to get around though am lucky I have a car :-)
Lovely area, much more suited towards couples, but scuba divers should definitely go because the similian & surin islands are incredible! best diving I've ever done & I've done 50 + dives.
Khao Lak best beach is the coconut beach. White sand beach is full of expensive hotels where you can't rent chair and the waves are stronger.
The market (held Monday, Saturday and another week day) is interesting. Lots of cool Thai food and bargains to be had.
The area around Khao Lak is quite with nice beaches that arnt to bussy there are a few water falls in the area and you can easily get a speed boat out to similan islands.
Don't miss a day trip to Similan or Ta Chai Island. They are gems of Thailand and close to Khao Lak main pier.
Khao Lak seems the place to be if you are plus 40 and coming from Germany, Russia or Britain. You will see too many white dudes with beer guts enjoying misserable western food while rolling on the beach.
Most places rebuilt after the 2004 Tsunami but everything still in a disorganized state. There has obviously been absolutely no planning done in laying out the town site and all the main activities are still along side of the main North/South highway.
Honestly, khao lak is more for travelers who likes to spend 70% of their time by beach or resort.. There's no shopping mall or night market like other parts of Thailand.
The tourist attraction is kinda boring compare to Phuket. Khao Lak is best for people looking for relax at the resort and beaches.
A place to go in Thailand that is peaceful and beautiful. Has everything you need just in a quitter version.
We were in the wet season so the whole place was virtually closed down. Lots of closed shops. Tours to Similian islands not running and I could go on.
the quite and small town which you can find some necessary stuff for your hotel and beach relaxation.
Better than the overdone patong karon beach stay which I did enjoy but its overun pesty hawkers with hard sell crowds .
There are a few beaches and waterfalls in the area. Maybe you can rent a bike (200-300baht/day) and go around the area and explore.
Stunning area with stunning beaches. The perfect holiday if you divide you time between the craziness of Phuket (Patong, Kata etc) and the natural beauty and serenity of Khoa Lak.
A really friendly town with mostly nice weather in summer has some magic attractive atmosphere. Unless it's raining the weather is nice.
This place has many nice 5 star hotels but very far from the shopping area. It would be great if you have your own transportation.
Loved it. Excellent value for money. The owner and general manager are very helpful and nice. It was a leisurely 15 minute walk to the beach with restaurants and shops along the way.
Khao Lak, not for us. It feels very "all over the place", and by this I mean you have some number of centers that are far enough apart to not walk so you have to take a cab or rent some vehicle.
Pakarang Beach is a great place to relax. Khao Lak, nice little town, near national parks and beaches.
The main reason to stay in Khao Lak is for the beaches of Nang Thong and Ba Niang and if you are interested in day trips diving in the Similan Islands or to Khao Sok National Park.
I like to stay out of town where its less crowded & Khao Lak beaches are NEVER crowded. It's a nice place to RELAX.
It's a small city in Phungnga. Main activity still Island trip. but if you stay in Hotel that have private beach it's will perfect weekend
In Khao Lak there is nothing to do or to see. Except for diving or snorkeling around the Similan Islands or any of the other amazing diving sites around Khao Lak of course.
Phang Nga area is lovely. After the devastation of the Tsunami in 2004 the area has really gotten back on its feet! There are many really good restaurants to choose from along the main shopping strip area.
