Compass Joy Living is a nice little hotel, and I lived there for 2 years before it was taken over by the current management company. However, last night the mattress was just too hard, I don't mean firm, I mean rock-hard that hurts the back. So, I asked the night clerk for a roll-away-bed to use instead of the queen sized bed. He brought one and it was nothing great but better than the hard bed I would have had to use. However, when I was checking out the morning clerk/manager told a Vietnamese friend that had come to meet me, in Vietnamese not English, that I owned an extra 250,000 VND for the extra bed. I told him that no way I would have taken the roll-away bed if I was informed there was an extra charge. But he said "Sir, the maid saw it in your room..." Of course she did, the other desk clerk brought it to me, I wasn't trying to hide anything. Anyway, I refused to pay the "extra charge," first time in my travels this has happened, and immediately left the property...

The hotel is off the busy road and some taxi drivers had problem finding the place. This offers some privacy and quiet if you don't mine taking the luggage and walk 30 feet. The young staff were extremely helpful in every way they could and we felt like at home. One big plus is the hotel charged $1 per pound for laundry, which is unheard of in my entire life of business travel, and that was the same day service if we wanted. The only cons is we couldn't find a good English channel on TV and all local programs were low-res. That was not our problem as we were busy sampling local cursine in many restaurants just minutes away. The prices were very reasonable comparing to downtown eateries. We tried a seafood buffet one minute walk away and you could have all food you can BBQ yourself to eat and beer to drink for $10 USD! Not the gourmet type but you cook the food your self so you are to blame if it doesn't turn out good😀

Good Value for money and spacious Room”
I booked a room where it indicate the room comes with lounge access. However when I checked with the staff, they don't understand there is such a item provided. The lounge access is just a small area at the hotel lobby. Probably they should remove that lounge access to avoid confusion. Their room are spacious compared to other hotels with similar pricing. You probably have to take a taxi or walk about 15 to 20 mins to the backpackers area. The staffs are friendly and courteous. I do recommend this hotel. considered value for money.

I will recommend this Hotel very highly to everybody. The rooms are more spacious than the other hotels we stayed at in HCMC and there is in-room served breakfast, so you don't have to quickly get dressed and rush to a dining area to get your breakfast in time! If we needed a taxi it was quickly sorted and they even help by telling the taxi driver where you would like to go. The location is near to the Ben Thanh Market, Bui Vien street, the Co.op Supermarket, restaurants and bars all are just around the corner.

Booked a kitchenette room and upgraded to the suite room after arrival. Very nice big room, fully equipped. Stuff is among the most friendliest hotel stuff I ever saw around the world. Helpful, supportive and very friendly. BF delivered to the room every morning in time. Taxi organised by the hotel without any issues. Only negative point is the slow internet and the location is a bit putside if you need to be close to the center. On the other hand it is very close to backpacker area to chill in the evening. I will be back soon.

Excellent value for money”
With 40% discount from Agoda the hotel is definitely worth it. Staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. The hotel is located away from main streets but close to the center (20 min of slow walk) and just ~10 min from main parks. Room (balcony studio) is spacious and well arranged, bathroom is big and clean. Every-day service keeps room clean and neat.

Good facilites in reasonable price”
All good from staff to room. However a hotel/apartment is sharing with owner home and sound proof is not what you expected so sometimes you may hear unexpected noise. Room is spacious but there is only 1 aircon at the far side of your bed, so you have to compromise for too cold at living room to have right temp. at your bed area.

Television in room at G floor damage so I can see only 3/4 of screen and hot water not have may be it's also damage! and important point is wifi not smooth always weak-strong in the morning can not use it I think that may be Vietnamese owner of this hotel think because I reserve the room very late so the quality of the room must poor than normal so it's last chance you can sell to me

the hotel is clean but the times when the rooms get cleaned are inconvenient. cleaner came to service the room between 1pm and 5pm sometimes didnt come at all. i upgraded to a balcony room but the balcony was behind the tv and unit so not accessible. no view from balcony and only room for the aircon unit. No breakfast on the last day because they didn't arrange for the cook even though i filled in the daily request and stated the time. The staff were friendly and polite also helpful in arranging tours and taxis

Horrible and Childish Owner, Horrible Hotel All Around”
There was plenty of wrong with this place and I will be as objective as possible. First of: They will hold your passport unless you provide a security deposit. And nope, they charge an extra "Service Charge" for the deposit if you put it on the card. And what if you're not carrying any extra cash for your expenditure? TOUGH LUCK. Enter the room.....welll it was meh. I have been to Ho Chi Minh 3 times prior and with the price range you can be looking at way better rooms than the one I got. The toilet smelled like a sewer the whole 3 nights I was there, but thankfully I didn't stay in the room much. They have a balcony but does not allow smoking, fair enough but feels like a waste. You'd have to take a tiny elevator down and out to get a smoke. There is a bar(?) shisha area just below the hotel so it can get pretty loud early in the night. You can hear traffic in the morning despite it being somewhat "inside the lane". Now on to location, now I know what I was getting into booking he
