Excellent value!!”
The very friendly family that owns the guest house arranged a pick up from from the bus stop (about 1km away). Even though I booked online the same day and had never spoken with them, one of their people was there to pick me up when I arrived - outstanding service!! The room and attached bathroom were clean and it had a good mosquito net. The jungle tour they offer and guided was great! We saw many OrangUtan (maybe 12 to 14-I couldn't believe we saw so many!!), as well as huge Argus bids (like a jungle peacock) and many monkeys. This place is such a great value - I extended my stay. The guest house is next to a great little restaurant with very good, inexpensive food that also runs a school called Kolibri for the poorest children of the village. You can spend a day(or longer) at the school helping the kids practice English, math, arts, music, sports, etc. (or even just donate some money). Highly recommend both the jungle tour with Fun Family guest house and a visit to the Kolibri school!!

Amazing jungle experience”
We were looking for a low-cost guesthouse and were uncertain about the jungle trip, although we've read really good reviews. Well it's 100% worth it, for us this was by far the best 4 days in Asia. The room is simple and clean, equipped with mosquito net over the bed and a much needed fan. The jungle trek is the real deal (we went for the 2D1N version). Pure nature around you just refreshes your brain, and the guides pay full attention to their customers, it was like a honeymoon :) We learned a bunch of first-hand information about the wildlife, local history, threats of human expansion, and were also introduced to the jungle magic ;) And the cherry on the top is the tube rafting back to the village. There are several tiny restaurants around town, we liked the one right next to Fun Family Guesthouse the most. It's open all day, food is affordable&tasty, and Rita, the chef is very kind (also, speaks English). Thank you Putra, Sugi and Josh! We hope to come back later, perhaps for a longer jungle trek!

Amazing stay and jungle tracking”
It was difficult to choose where to go, because Bukit Lawang offers many different stays and tracking tours. I chose Fun Family because of the good reviews and because it is completely local: the people working in the guesthouse and the guides were all raised here (which isn't always like this, because western people and companies are arising here). The stay was lovely: Putra made me feel home immediately. He is such a friendly guy! The day after I left for a jungle tracking, with Eddy (aka Caterpillar, yes like the insect), his cousin. He really felt what routes we were capable of and what routes would be to hard. So the hiking was on a personal level and we met so many animals, which Eddy could tell us a lot about! During the tracking Putra and Eddy provided a lot of food and drinks, and they were very good company too! I really enjoyed my stay and tracking! I would definitely recommend going here!

Staying with Putra, his family and staff is awesome experience, from first second they make you feel like home, always ready to help if needed. The place itself is good value for very good price. If you plan to go jungle trekking choose Putra aswell, he knows lot about jungle, animals and you will laugh alot and the food they prepare for you is best! Really good experience in Bukit Lawang 10/10 would do again. Thanks Putra, sorry we didnt get to say goodbye. Wish you all the best and hope to see you again! Adéla & Jan

Fantastic stay”
Had a fantastic stay with Putra. The hotel is perfectly located on the river in the center of the village, right where all the kids go play in the water. Probably the best river view in town. I went on the jungle trek he offers, and it was incredible. Saw eleven orang utans, a python, and a ridiculous amount of other monkeys. The river in the jungle was gorgeous, I certainly recommend you do the rafting after the trek. Putra was very fun, and made me feel very welcome. The whole stay was a great experience. Highly recommended!

Putra is the best guide ever!”
The rooms of the guesthouse are simple but nice and two have a nice view over the river. I highly recommend booking a jungle trek with the owner Putra! He is super friendly, careful towards the animals and nature and puts a lot of effort into the trek itself. The hike, the food, the camp, the rafting back, everything was perfect! On the second day of the tour he even did a personal trek with me because no one else on the group wanted to join us.

Great expirience!!!!! The place its ameizing, near to the river. The family owner its so nicely. I did a jungle treck with Putra, the owner and my guide. Was ameizing!!! He try all the time to be save and look all kind of animals we can. Great explient about the jungle and the wild live!!!!!

Great location and amazing value for money”
This basic guesthouse by the river is run by a family with smiles on their faces! Very welcoming and chilled, it is next door to a little eatery and the sound of the river rumbling by sends you off to sleep. It is basic but very clean and insects weren't an issue, with a decent mosquito net and decent fan keeping the humidity off. The bathroom was also basic but actually has a western toilet and good pressure on the cold shower. The village is prone to power outages, which I don't mind from an electricity point of view but it did also knock out the water! Strongly recommended, they also can arrange treks and tours.

Way better than we expected ”
Putra and his family were very welcoming. He helped us to organize our ongoing trip and gave us an amazing one day jungle tour with rafting. The room was simple but totally fine for this price. We felt very comfortable and could also enjoy a swim in the river that is located directly next to the homestay. All in all we were super happy with our stay and would come back here again.

Great full trip to the jungle.”
I would like to say thank you so much to Putra, it was the best experience I could ever imagine in Bukit Lawang. When we came by bus he was waiting for us in the bus station, he bring us to the hostel and since then we felt just welcome. We book a 2 days trek in the jungle and we were very lucky, -he said- because we see almost everything you we expect. The trek was exigent but he was patient, the food was unbelievable, very fresh and tasty fruits, and the camp in the jungle just everything you can imagine, private natural pool, private cook, own tent, very nice service and an amazing night in the jungle. I hope that if you come to the jungle you book with him, because not just the service, the attention and the knowledge about the jungle, but because support local people is essential for the jungle and the animals, he left everything clean and we get not less than a luxury experience in the jungle. 100% recommended.

Great time in Bukit Langwang ”
It was a good stay before we went into the jungle. The jungle tripe was really amazing. We saw a lot Orang Utans and other monkeys. The second day was a relaxing day beside the river. Highly recommend it!

Amazing place to stay for trekking into the national park. Putra and his family were so kind and welcoming. Definitely do the trekking through them as well, Putra has amazing knowledge of the forest and the orangutans. We had a great time doing the 2 day one night trek with him and his son.

Super cheap and friendly”
No frills but cheap as hell and super friendly/helpful family. They'll pick you up and drop you off from bus stop for free and also get you a better deal for the taxi. And the orangutan trek they offer is a great price and very fun!

Friendliest staff I've met”
I booked this guesthouse so I could do a 2-day-1-night jungle trek. When I arrived at the Bukit Lawang bus station, staff from the guesthouse was already there to pick me up personally even though they had no idea what time I would arrive. Once there I book the trek with the guesthouse (80 EUR for the trek and an additional 10 EUR for the river raft back). The trek itself was amazing – we got to see 7 orangutans and 3 other types of monkeys. Our guide, Eddie, and assistant guide, Aan, did a great job finding orangutans and really went out of their way so that we could see and photograph the orangutans. After the trek we arrived at the jungle camp which was very simple (bringing toilet paper and hand sanitizer is a good idea) but things worked well. Our chef, Iyos, cooked an amazing and very filling dinner for all of us. The rooms are clean and things worked very well. The staff is extremely friendly and very happy to help and explain things!
