We had a great time at the Hotel Sogo Cebu. The staff was super friendly, the room was quiet and dark, and the location is about a 10 minute walk from all the best sightseeing attractions in Cebu city. Great hotel for a great price, I would definitely stay there again.

Having hear the word "SOGO", it is correlated to being a motel and a cheap one. But this hotel sogo in cebu is actually booked mostly by travelers. The room was a bit spacier than it is in the pictures. The only things I didn't like were that: 1) They would require you to have a printed copy of the voucher and 2) There is only one electricity socket in the room. For the location, it is only 1 ride away from the pier, and also near the other tourist spots like Fort San Pedro, Magellan's Cross, etc.

We were just glad that we checked in to this Hotel. The location is very accessible and near to the tourist city spots. The hotel staff was very accommodating also. When we checked in again the next day, there were no rooms available for premium. Then they offered the Deluxe room for a discount and we were very happy to accept it. I recommend staying in Hotel Sogo.

Reputation Possibly Proven Wrong”
My wife and I had a discussion about where to stay in Cebu City, and I narrowed it down to two places SoGo and another place a couple doors up. My wife was dead set agains SoGo because the poor reputation here in the Philippines, after all the rooms can be rented by the hour. She said if I wanted to stay we would. Needless to say, the rooms can be rented by the hour, but there did not seem to be anything strange going on, and really the rooms are clean, the aircon worked well, and the food for breakfast was not that bad. Some of the low points were that after a night bus from Bacolod, the morning we tried to check in, the hotel has no idea that we are coming and had booked from the Agoda website. They tell us we need to find a place to print off our booking as they have no computers there. I showed them the email confirmation but there was not other way around it, we needed to go and print it off. At least, and I have to say, this was a good thing, they gave us a room before the print. We ended up having to extend our stay by a day, and I asked if I could pay by credit card, yes sir no worries. The next morning, I came down to pay and the Customer service person did not know how to use the POS machine for a credit card with a chip and pin. My wife is a casher and she tried to explain it to here in Tagalog but she would not follow...cool as it was, if you are offering services such as on line bookings and credit card payments I think you should have the equipment and the training needed in order to make the business run smoothly. With that being said I would stay there again!

Great Location Friendly Staff”
I stayed in the Executive room. It was quite large, but not suite sized. It was clean, but the carpet smelled of Cigarettes and spilt alcohol, and need speialist cleaning by a carpet cleaner. The bathroom was clean. Food is avaible 24 hours. Taxis were allways available, and shopping is walking distance for everything. All the nightlife of downtown Cebu is very close, and it is only a short taxi to Osmena and Mango Avenue

Because of the low price, we checked in at Sogo hotel. We had to wait for a room go get ready and while waiting we realized that we were in a hotel where people go to have sex. At the reception was a pricelist starting from 2 hours, 3 hours... up to 24 hours (with agoda you get 24 hours from the time you check in including breakfast). Many couples checked in without any luggage most of the type old, ugly white with young nice filipina. When we were brought to our room, the first thing I saw there was a cockroach on the bed. The room had no window, but red light and a lot of mirrors above the bed and on the side. When I asked for insektspray for the insekt, they were very cooperative and brought it imediately. Because of the strong smell of the spray we finally were upgradet and brought to an other room without asking for it. But the receptionist couldn't guarantee for a room without cockroaches. In the room we got there was a hairdryer, the bathroom was clean and quite new but the carpet I didn't want to touch barefoot. On tv you have many chanels and also 2 porno ones. You could order meals there 24 hours but we didn't want to eat there (not even the breakfast) so we went out looking for dinner. All we found was mc donald and an open 7 eleven nearby and the neighbourhood doesn't invite you to be out there long time - in fact it is quite sceary at night time. Well, if this is what you are looking for, the plastic coated matress is actually quite comfortable for a good night sleep, if this is what you came for (now I also know, why our taxi driver was laughing at us, when we told him the name of our hotel)... I wouldn't go there anymore.

Great locatuion for the examination sites”
I stayed in this Hotel as its closer to my Examination site. Just a walking distance to UC . As soon as i get in no questions asked .The staff help us right away in our luggage and oriented us to the sorroundings and safety issues was focused which i'm impressed. Reminding us with our free breakfast everyday...... Asking what we specifically want for breakfast is owesome..... As soon as we leaved the Hotel reminding us always to be mindful and watchful with our Pocket books. Thankls.....

Room had all of the basics, working wifi, TV, a/c, hot water in bath. Everything in the room was working with some minor maintenance issues. Room was not dirty but at the same time it did not feel truly clean. Staff was polite and efficient. No problems or issues, good hotel for a short budget stay. Good basic breakfast delivered to the room included in the price.

stay was ok exception of proximity to kitchen area and smell emulating in room. hot water always there with a choice on menu but what do you expect from a budget hotel anyway. clean sheets towels and beddings and ordering of food any time day or night. convenient to malls about 3 bucks hey not bad if you're on a budget. area kind of seedy though watch your wallets if you're walking at night, you might be approached. breakfast though leaves a lot to be considered and if you want a different breakfast everyday you should specify at check in time of your first day or you will need to update request daily.

Disappointing”
Because I arrived after midnight in Cebu due to a late running plane I was given the run around. They were not going to give me the room that i had booked and paid for saying its now the 5th. They were going to leave me stranded without a hotel in the early hours of the morning after travelling all day from Australia. My gf stepped in and said in tagalog if you treat all your customers like this you will soon have no customers. I did not appreciate the way I was treated. only cold showers for an international traveller.

needed a place to recharge after redeye”
My flight arrived at 4am and I needed an hourly hotel to recharge so I can have energy for my vacation. The place was pretty simple but did the trick. Note that they don't provide shampoo, so you would need to buy packets at the connected convenience store. Also note that they don't have any hair dryer for rent/borrow.

Stay overall was ok. Good value for the money. Security guard was NOT friendly at all.”
We went out and came back around 2a.m. Security guard would not let me get out of my taxi. He kept saying the hotel was full. I kept telling him I was booked in for the last two nights. My girlfriend said we are staying here. He didn't believe her either. He followed us in and still questioned the night clerk about our stay. Overall he was RUDE

The hotel is located in a red light district. The room was very clean and the staff friendly. Major annoyance: No remote control for the air con which was freezing cold. Breakfast was satisfactory.
