hotel with a twist ”
We arrived Hotel Tosari after a 5-hour drive in the afternoon heat from Mt Bromo. So when we checked-in and went into our Standard room with no fan, we felt like we were in a sauna. Of course, it didn’t help that I was still wearing my sweater after coming from Mt Bromo. we all agreed the room felt stuffy so decided to upgrade to a room with moderate fan, since the difference wasn’t that much. so we trudged up one flight of stairs with our luggage, entered the room, and felt a little bit cooler because we were close to the air-well of the roof, but still no fan. We wondered what exactly the moderate fan was, until we saw a vent fan at one corner near the ceiling. It wasn’t what we expected but we settled in the room nonetheless. There were 3 of us so finding a hotel with 3 beds at reasonable price was exactly what we needed. The sheets and blankets were very clean, the bed was very comfy, and at night with the cool air, we all slept very well. The toilets are clean too with hot water. It’s a short walk to the town square and shopping malls and to the church we wanted to go to. There is no restaurant in the hotel but plenty of places to eat nearby. Early in the morning we heard a lady calling out repeatedly something in bahasa, and it turned out she was calling out breakfast for delivery. How very unique! have never seen that in all the hotels I’ve been. Only complaint, but just a minor one - sounds and voices from neighboring rooms can be heard, but we were the noisy ones.

A Homey Place Down Town”
tosari hotel is an old hotel from the 60s or 70s. but like all old hotel, they are friendly. our room is quite cozy. we chose a room with twin bed. the beds are not springbed but good enough to sleep in. after we got inside the room, the bell boy/room service/housekeeping (don't know for sure) gave us a jar of water and two towels. no other amenities inside the room. the bathroom is not the shower or bath tub type. more of a traditional one with dipper. oh yeah, they only serve toast with coffee or tea for breakfast. but not to worry, there's a lot of restaurant around. the main reason we chose this hotel was it's location. it's downtown with many famous local restaurants and shops. and after a busy day/night wandering around this hotel is a nice place to rest.

if you're low in budget, this hotel is the perfect place to stay. It located in the heart city of Malang. You don't have to worry about food because there are a lot of good traditional resto just a few meters from Hotel.

Well, if you hope better or even best services stay in Malang, I don't suggest you to rent room in here. If you have limited budget, I really suggest youto stay at Hotel Tosari. Its located in central of Malang city, only few metres you can find any food street or cuisine around Malang governmen office. You can reach some attractive areas only by walking. Quite nice for me.

stayed on the sunlit second floor during december holiday. shouts and footfalls of vacationing little kids woke me at 6 a.m. every day -- but this is usual, as people get up early in the tropics. at night the hotel was very quiet though. old tv had brownish picture and hot water was on again, off again, but bathroom was large and clean. just one towel provide, though. quiet location and low price a plus. street outside on the grimy side but you're very near downtown.

Kos kotor, Bukan Hotel Hemat”
Noisy, absolutely no housekeeping, no towels, same sheets for 4 days, no wifi despite the untruthful listing, black hole for mobile data connection, "special fee" levied when checking out, room smelled if urine when checking in. If all rooms weren't already booked we would have paid triple to stay elsewhere. All of this due to the misleading reviews on Agoda and other online booking services. I hope this review saves some other poor soul from having to buy a mop and pail and clean their own room before moving in.
