We had such a lovely stay here from the get go! I grew up in the Barossa and wanted to show my partner the place where I spent my childhood, and this was the PERFECT location to do that, and with so much more charm than a hotel suite, truly a special location. Check in was easy, simple, and contactless. In a beautiful envelope we found our instructions to find easy parking, a map of the retreat grounds and a welcome letter. The Nitschke Loft was to be our private escape for the weekend. It was serene, peaceful, and very comfortable. Beautiful location, a HUGE spa bath for two, and a gorgeous loft bedroom. Other reviews mention the low ceiling height but as long as you're not looking to jump up and down it's more than okay (I'm 6'1 for reference and could stand in the middle of the room fine.) We loved our stay here and will be back in future visits.

It was ok but nothing special”
Besides the no wifi in rooms, poor TV reception, very low shower pressure in bathroom and the Maintenance Officer jumping on the roof at 7:20AM, its ok but not worth the money, next time will be staying at novotel down the road. The staff however were very nice.

disappointing ”
$599 a night , after flying around the world and staying in various 5 * hotels in my time . this rated very poorly , very average that sort of money would expect a complimentary bottle of wine , seeing you are on a winery. and they WANTED TO CHARGE $4 each for the 500 mm bottles of water in the fridge breakfast standard , had a lot better in my time . is winter and the pool would of been nice to swim in . maybe i'm too fussy , but $600 a night i think i should be . i think the owner is stingy and has take the money and run approach. charging for 500 mm bottles of water , not even motor inns are that stingy

More of summertime place”
We were there in the dead of winter , the room and bathroom are freezing cold and the heater kept tripping the switch , would expect more for the price . In summer if the pool is open the. The grounds are lovely . Needs a really good clean our bed spread was dirty as was the skirting boards . One night was enough .

Retreat is an understatement”
the retreat is a tricky one to locate on both gps and google map. it is actually located along koch road where you will see an old red lorry at the junction. drive ~1km and you will come across the sign for jcr. once you have found it, this is one of the best location for you to escape to. beautiful gardens and lots of perosnal attention and space (they only have 7 rooms). will definitely revisit to try their long lunches.

couldn't complain about anything, the staff were really friendly, the room was immaculate, we loved the style of the loft suite as it was carming yet spaceous. highly recommended for couples that would like the peace and quiet of the country side, yet still able to enjoy all the wineries in the Barossa.

Very happy with the accommodation. Not so happy with agoda. The photos shown when I was book were for a completely different room ( still happy with the room we received, just expected something completely different) I had an expectation for room A and received Room B. We didn't even know which room we had booked until we turned up. There wasn't a set time for us to check in, so we chose 2pm, the room wasn't ready. Also didn't get a choice in our breakfast, just given bacon and eggs ( still good quality )

the retreat is about 10 minutes away from tanunda, and 3 min away from rockford winery etc. and the rose garden is very pretty, stayed in one of the heritage houses for the first time. it is a good experiences.

NIce facility but not well managed”
Had great difficulty finding anyone to help when we arrived and were disappointed that breakfast hours were between 9 and 10am. They did respond so had an early light breakfast at 8.30am. Lovely location on the creek and amazing roses. The cold pool was refreshing on our hot day. Access road is dirt so expect your car to be very dusty afterwards.
