    Nice and easy-going”

It's really easy to find this place - the sign out front is a large number "168", you shouldn't miss it. My room didn't have windows, but this is budget and you get what you pay for. So glad that this hotel comes with good wifi. I come for work and have tried a few cheap hotels before, and usually the wifi is just too crappy to even send an email. The hotel staff is friendly and honest, including the chatty security guard. No hidden charges, no attempts to cheat/steal your money. Pricing for the mini-bar is fair as well. Had some minor issue with the toilet facilities - the toilet bowl got stuck during a flush (and made a bit of mess). But the cleaning staff reacted quickly and fixed up the situation. I had to give them 5 stars for this. I will come again to this hotel.

The room is clean and neat, and the location is quite near the city centre so that I could go most of the places by bus. The staff was very nice and helpful, she helped me search the way to several sightseeing places and called a motorbike for me. Nice place, dodgy area”

    Comfortable, clean, quiet

Nice, clean hotel - provided some calm and quiet from the manic city that is Ho Chi Minh. Rooms were comfortable including nice bed and bathroom. Staff were nice but customer service could have been better. Some members at the desk seemed to be a bit too relaxed/ careless and check out was a bit of a nightmare first thing in the morning - took 10/15mins to explain that we had already paid for the room and eventually another staff member had to be woken up to come help. Ended up being a stressful drive to the train station. Also a pity that working girls were let roam free around the lobby as the place otherwise gives off a more upmarket vibe. Finally, about Ho Chi Minh - don't bring any expensive items out at night - we went out for drinks on our first night and came back with nothing. Petty theft is a big issue, especially the guys on the scooters late at night.

Open and free guest policy. The staff. The location.

Been to Saigon a few times and this was easily the best hotel experience I've ever had. Large, clean room with a window, flat screen and a big bathroom. All for $15 a night. The location is in the heart of District 1. Also the staff were friendly and very helpful with an open, honest and free guest policy. Oh and speaking of free, they also have free parking for motorbikes.

    Amazing Place and Great Value”

Value for money, large bed, modern room

We were very impressed with our room at this hotel. We arrived late at night by bus from Cambodia (via Mekong express) so were looking for an easy to find hotel within walking distance. This hotel is very easy to find as it has a large neon "168" at the top. At 12am (midnight), the staff were still up to check us in. The room itself is great. Large kingsize bed, comfortable mattress and good pillows. We slept very well. No windows which meant the room was dark and quiet at night. This is especially important in Saigon with all the motorbikes. The bathroom was large and clean. The shower worked well with good water pressure and hot water. God ventilation in both the bathroom and the main room. We found the internet to work well for us. A good speed by SE Asia standards. The staff do try their very best but some have very limited English. We found that being patient really helped. There are some staff members that can speak English well, though they're not working all the time. The rooms are cheap but still just slightly out of our budget, otherwise we would have happily extended our stay. Though if this is in your price range I think it is excellent value for money.

    Cleanliness, staff, Information assistance, location!

The hotel was absolutely perfect for me. The staff are all very friendly. I liked the place so much I decided to stay there for 2 weeks. Very clean, very comfortable room. The staff helped me with all of my questions and needs. The location is perfect. Close enough to the markets and big tourist streets but far enough that you still feel like you are in Asia. They even have a beautiful front desk receptionist! I will definitely stay here again. You can eat at the market near for about 1 USD a meal, just perfect.

    Value, comfort, location

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Between us we rented four rooms and each and every room was clean and comfortable. There is a modern elevator fully stocked mini-bars, and so on. I have stayed at hotels in HCMC for twice the price to get this kind of comfort and these kind of amenities. This is the best value I have found in HCMC.

Great place, great people, close to everything!”

Staff helpfulness and friendliness, location, cleanliness

We had a great stay at Tuan Anh Hotel 168. We stayed 3 nights, the location is perfect for someone who wants to be close to everything but not be kept up all night with loud bass. The staff here was wonderful, they were always happy to help and to practice their English. We set up two different trips through the front desk, they helped make suggestions and were seriously grand! The room was clean and tidy, clean sheets and towels everyday. The owner of the hotel let us store our bags after we checked out as we had a day trip planned that day. We came back and chatted with the owner for 2 hours as we were waiting for our night bus to Cambodia. I can not give this place enough kind words, it is a newly reopened operation. The son of the family has reopened the family hotel and he is doing a great job!

    Great Bui Vien BUDGET hotel!”

When reading the comments of other travelers (or booking this hotel), keep in mind what you are booking/paying for. A great deal on a BUDGET hotel that is close to a hot spot in Saigon. This is NOT a five star deluxe accommodation. If you expect a super nice hotel like some travelers seem to have expected, you will be disappointed. But for under $17 a night, you’re getting a much better option than a hostel. The security guy out front is super nice, and always smiling. Most of the staff we have talked to speak little English, but one girl speaks English well. A Family Mart convenience store is 50 meters away, a small market (with street food vendors and a fresh fruit/vegetable areas) is 100 meters away, and at least two ATMs within 250 meters. There are hundreds of places to eat within a ten minute walk, and dozens of bars. Pros: Great location 100 yards from Bui Vien, quite room compared to those on Bui Vien, cheap price, cold AC that works, hot water. Cons: No lock box in the room, minimal room (small desk, not many places to unpack), cheap mattress, internet is fast at times, but generally unreliable/inconsistent. Overall, worth $17 a night for the location and convenience, especially since our view is you shouldn’t be hanging out in your hotel room, but out exploring Vietnam.

    Clean and comfy”

    Clean, simple, kind staff

Stayed at this hotel with two of my friends on a backpacker's budget in a room for four, but even split three ways, the room was still good value for the cost. Though the room is not too spacious, the bathroom was clean and decent, which is a major plus point! The hotel staff were kind and helpful; they helped us book a tour too.The location is a 5-minute walk to Pham Ngu Lao street (the backpacker district) where you can find all sorts of food, travel bureaus and more. It's also a short walk to Ben Thanh market and other landmarks, and we had no trouble getting around the area by foot. All in all, i got a good night's rest here and very happy with my stay.

Clean and nice hotel in a prime area.”

    Clean and Big.

Made a wrong booking. Booked 28Jan as arrival date. Should be 29Jan. So when we arrived in the hotel, our booking already used up. So we were opted to stay and pay again. Its ok, bec the hotel gave us a good rate with good room. Room is clean, at its best, and in good location. Since, we feel comfortable and at home, we decided to stay for 5 nights.
