Exceptionally Friendly Hostel ”
This is very friendly hostel. Not luxury, but nicely decorated to create a welcome and relax atmosphere. The setting of the kitchen and common room encourage chats and communication.The location is close to bus stop. Frequent shuttles are provided for connecting public transport, ski field and dinner. This services is essential to guest who don't drive such as my self. The place are well kept for cleanliness. The onsens can be booked for private use which is excellent for couples and families to enjoy together. The family room I stayed is very spacious and comfortable. The staff can speak fluent English and Mandarin and readily take facebook messages. The owner is particularly accommodating. My daughter has lost a phone where is more than 20 mins drive from the Guest house. The owner is so generous to take the phone back for my daughter without any charges. I seldom write review. But this hostel impressed me a lot.

Start with a serious con, no toilet in the room (shared), other than that I have only compliments for the attentive and human staff and the lovely guesthouse that was created here.

We stayed a night before to go hiking the next day”
We stayed here to get ready for our hike the next day. It was very relaxing. You can reserve per room an indoor and outdoor onsen. There is no lunch or dinner serve here but you can cook at their own kitchen. It is ideal for people who want to have staycation and work here to have a different view.

I stayed there for 3 nights. The guest house is located in a good location, about 7-10 minutes walk from the Kanko Center Mae Bus Stop, which you can take the bus from there to Mt Norikua, Kamikochi, the Shinshimashima train station, etc. You can start the Norikura highland trekking from the house. Not far from the guesthouse, there is a mountain bike shop that you can rent out. Yuma san, the owner, was very kind and was very knowledgable in the area. He gave me good advices about the itinerary during my stay. The place is very clean. You can either choose to stay in a private room or in a dormitory. The outdoor onsen was gorgeous. You can book it for your private use. I will defenitely go back to stay there again if I have a chance.

Super awesome place at Norikura highland!”
Took me a while to get up to the highland, but this guesthouse is pretty amazing. Even though it's at highland, don't worry that you don't have food or anything. Simple food and snacks are sold there and takeaway food is also availble for hikers. Host gave lots of information and recommendation for the different hikes, which was very helpful! Do take note of potential bear encounter nearby, remember to knock the bell to scare the bear away, or purchase a bear bell. (I saw one pretty near to me...) Hiking trails are right in front of the house. Went for day hike first and saw many waterfalls and ponds. Many equipment rentals are available such as headlamp if u want to see sunrise.. or sleigh board and hiking sticks!!! From there I took a bus at the Kankou centre (which is just 8 min walk away from the house) to Kamigochi for a day high. Outdoor onsen was amazing and you can book for timeslot for yourself!!! Overall the place is very clean and eell maintained. Love it. :)

The price included an indoor and outdoor onsen. The staff was very friendly and spoke perfect English. There was some basic food like simple instant noodles, rice and curry sauce for and decent price (200 yen each portion). The dorm room was pretty wide and the futon was of and good quality. Nice living room with chimney.

Very nice and comfortable place. Got relaxing time at outdoor onsen (Japanese style hot spring). Must try, it's FOC but need to reserve the time. Owner & his family are very helpful and warmly welcome to everyone.

Close to the busstop and the sight of waterfall. Cozy guest kitchen and living room. Also the onsen is great. But everything they provided you need DIY, which is fine by me.

The owner speaks English and one of the staff speaks Chinese. Well equipped kitchen and we had free use of the kitchen to prepare our meals. The owner provided advice on local weather conditions and places of interest. Equipped with rentals bikes but we did use them. A cosy common loungh with a wood stove. We only stayed 1 night but will consider coming back to stay for 2 nights in spring to see the snow capped mountains.

Ultra propre, parfaitement situé près du Kanko center, j'ai passe un super séjour dans cette guesthouse. Les bains sont très agréables, tant en intérieur qu'en extérieur. Enfin, le propriétaire est au petit soin. Pour faire simple, c'est l'un de meilleurs guesthouse dans lequel j'ai séjourné !
