Located just near the Armenian art street, the location is just perfect for foodie who wants to indulge themselves with scrumptious Penang cuisines. The guest house is very clean, clean rooms and toilets and the staff provide you with great and warm hospitality. To be frank, I haven't found any guesthouse that felt like home other than this one. Stayed there before Christmas and ended up extending my stays after Christmas because I just love the ambience and getting to know people from all over the world. My friends and I enjoyed the Christmas dinner very much. We had so much fun in front of the spacious antique lobby playing heads up right after the Christmas dinner. We can watch TV at the cafe. There is a free flow water dispenser and the breakfast is superb. There is a small fridge for you to keep your drinks cold as well. Mama Katie the receptionist not just sharing her travelling experience but she thought me as well to respect and accept other people's differences. She also will guide you throughout your stay and pampered you with good food. Overall experience was awesome. I feel really sad to leave this place because we are all like family already. I will definitely recommend this guest house to every solo traveller, couples and families and most importantly I will be back soon!!! Miss you already mama katie!

Every beds shower room and toilet are very clean, cool air-condition, the best location near Penang China town and Komtar main bus station, free breakfast and everything here be so spacial because of Mama Katie. I was born in local place in Thailand. Never have chance to see how is Christmas and New year party from the other side of the world and Mama Katie make my dreams come true. Mama Katie is so friendly and kind. She has many exciting experiences from around the world and always help you to plan about the trip in Penang ,how to be service when you live abroad and street food adventure. And Mama always feed her friends in every hours.😂❤️ I love you so much Mama. I will bring you some souvenirs from Thailand soon. I have chance to meet nice people here. Katie is the heart and soul of this place. What a gem. You just don't get service like this anymore these days. She is so kind and personable and takes time with every guest to make sure they feel at home and know the best ways to experience Penang. She gives great advice about how to not get ripped off and get the best prices on everything. She will take you to the market in the morning if you want and get you local prices. She knows everything about the city and is so funny too. She really made me feel at home and that is rare in my travels! The rooms are totally renovated and brand new, very modern. The historic building is a work of art. Free coffee, tea and breakfast every morning. The location is perfect for exploring all areas of Penang, I was able to walk almost everywhere. There's a great food market right on this street every night. I highly recommend this place. It was a great value for the money and I slept so good here!

Extended my stay because I just felt so at home here. Staff are so lovely. It feels like home. Situated in nice street, near mall, free CAT bus to station and Butterworth ferry departure station. Rooms are clean, basic but very comfortable. Walking distance to many attractions. The best thing about this place is the staff. Katie and the housekeeper are gracious and very helpful. I wish you would take out the furniture for sale and replace it with seating space. Other than that this place, atmosphere is awesome.

The hostel/guesthouse is well situated just 200mts from cheap bus station, mall, atm and walking distance from everywhere else. Everything was clean and breakfast was nice. Katy, the host, was the loveliest lady ever. She is always willing (and encouraging you) to ask about anything you need to know, recommending good and cheap places to eat, visit, etc. We felt like home in there and would defenetly come back! First of all thank you very much to the reception who never gave up smiling from the moment I arrived.. the best option for the one who misses their mum. Place, rooms and bathroom are so clean and staff very friendly. I recommend you to start to new day going to market with amazing chinese mum then all day goes well anyway but you need to wake up early in the morning. Near to Penang street art, gost museum, it takes 7 min. Enjoy your stay. Greetings..

The rooms and other facilities are clean and the place is quiet. Nothing special on the facilities side; you have what you need. However, what really makes the place way above the average is Katy, the receptionist. She is really making the guests to enjoy their stay in Georgetown. If any questions about the city or Malaysia she will help you. Also if you are into Mandarin and want to learn it, she has good tips ;)

Had a really enjoyable stay here. The place itself encompasses the locations vibe perfectly, has a large entrance, common areas placed around everywhere and quiet when it matters. There was always a bathroom available when needed. Generally what made the place amazing is the staff. I have initially booked for two days and ended up extending until my flight. It’s basically like a second home and I haven’t felt as comfortable in a place since I started travelling early this year. Would totally recommend!

Don't hesitate to stay in Kimberley Old House. Great atmosphere thanks to Katie, the frontwoman who, not only knows the name of all the clients, she also takes care of every single detail to make you feel like at home. She helps to organize groups for sightseeing, so no problem if you are a solo traveller. Rooms, toilets and shower are simple but very clean and in good condition. I Will come back for sure ;)

We had a great stay here, ended up extending too to stay longer. The room was nice and big, comfy beds. Showers and bathroom always clean. What made it was the staff here, they're so friendly and helpful. When we arrived we were told about a hot air balloon festival which was happening locally, we would have never known about this and it was a fantastic evening! Thanks so much!

The location is strategic, 10 minutes from komtar, 1 minutes from 24hours shop, 5 minutes from chowrasta market, and dont forget about night market at kimberley street. I'm stay at single room, its no window but I dont mind because I already go out in the morning and back to the hotel at night (its near morning market, its mean a lot of sightseeing and a looot of culinary). Dont forget about the owner (Im really sorry miss.. I forgot your name). She is and another miss (and I dont know her name either.. hiks) are very welcome, and she has a good sense of humor :D I think someday I will come to GeorgeTown again. I already miss this town !!

Great value for what you get. We were initially staying at a pretty horrible guesthouse nearby and decided to move here since it was the same price per night. So glad we switched! We ended up staying a week here and everything was lovely. The rooms were clean, breakfast was good, staff are super sweet and the location was also good. Def recommend!

I think Kimberley old house is one of the very few places left that think of profit and guest experience at 50/50 ratio. Most of places have it at 90/10 for the profit. 1) The price is probably the cheapest you can find. 2) Location is great, in the heard of Georgetown. 3) The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Will go extra mile to help you or advice regarding your itinerary. 4) Place is being cleaned very often, they do change sheets after guest check out.Trust me, not all places do that. 5) Rooms are ok, nothing special, but for that price it is good. There were some problems with squeaky beds before, but owner and staff listen to reviews, and now they have changed all bed frames. They do change mattresses once in a while as well to make guests have best conditions. 6) They take feedback seriously and fix all problems or improve the place according to guest reviews/advices/ideas. (No. 5 as an example) 7) Good wifi and aircon. Defo recommend. Will come back again for sure!

Everything is great. But keep in mind the toilet is shared, but they divide it into women and man toilet and shower. The host is super friendly and chill. Very clean as well and spacious. Got some cool baggage transfer elevator. But the room is 50% soundproof, so just keep that in mind.

Best Homestay, because of the owner kindness”
The owner is fully at the dipsosal of her clients, please make the effort of waking up early in the morning, and she will bring you at several places for a perfect street food breackfast. It is in the center of georgetown which is really important here to enjoy the atmosphere. The only problem is the dorm’s bed that are kind of noisy, but the shower are really good (hot). Thank you so much, I will come again for sure !

Here's a good place for budget travel. FYI: Female receptionists English is limited. 1. When I asked her " I'll check out today, and return tomorrow. Is it OK to leave my stuff?" She didn't understand it. 2 When another guest say to her "I want to buy sunscreen. Where is the shop to buy it?" She didn't understand, so I answered it, instead. so if you want to ask detailed things, I recommend you to use online translation.

Excellent trip”
I had a great vacation based at this location. The woman running the hostel is a great hostess, and went so far above and beyond the call of duty, taking me out to the local markets, bringing back snacks for clients who arrived late at night, etc. She is really gifted at encouraging everyone to talk with each other and developing a friendly, fun atmosphere. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet the staff here and have them introduce me to Penang.

Value for money, great room even shared bathroom. The most important is the host so friendly, ill be back to this hotel if come back to penang. Located at strategic location, just walking to goerge town. Near to bus station penang komtar, a lot of culinary. Free coffee and tea also bread. All staff was very helpfull and friendly, i loved the host so much.
