Relaxing beach resort with great service”
My family and I had a good 4 hrs drive to La Luz Resort in Batangas. By the time we arrived at the resort, my three nephews were already restless and famished. The staff who greeted us at the Reception was pleasantly charming and attentive. Three hotel staffs were arranged to carry our bags to our room and we found this really helpful as the resort has a very steep stairs down to its line of accommodations below. We rented a Premier Loft room which I got at a discounted price in Agoda.com and it was nice, clean and cozy with enough beds for the whole family. We really like the rustic Filipiniana theme of the room with its separate toilet and bathroom for privacy. There was no telly but the lull of the sea and the picturesque view makes up for the lack of it. And besides, the main point of coming here is for us to relax and enjoy our time together as a family. By the time we went down to the dining hall, the food were already served buffet style and we feed ourselves all to our tummy's content. No outside food is allowed for overnight guests, so it was compulsory for us to avail the full board package meal for P1200/head. We found the price really reasonable since it was less hassle for us and the amount & variety of food we consumed was way better than if we had prepared the food ourselves. Late afternoon and we were all frolicking down at the beach. We really enjoyed the warm waters of La Luz. My nephews were hyperactively rolling down the beach and me - channeling my kid self - joined with their play. My only suggestion for future guests is to wear their thongs or water shoes as the sands in La Luz is extremely pebbly. There are also other water activities in La Luz like kayaking, snorkeling and boating with equipments available for rent at a cost. After a well spent afternoon and a filing dinner, we retired to our room & slept in our comfortable beds. We spent the next morning taking photos of the scenic cliffside view and finally headed back home.

All-around awesome resort with great value”
I was traveling with a friend and we chose La Luz because it had high ratings, and also a low price within our budget. We had no idea how pleased we would be with our stay. From the parking lot, the attention to details in service made this resort stand out. It was raining a little, so they offered us umbrellas in the parking lot. We found out at check-in that we had booked the wrong dates for our room. The counter staff handled our concerns with extreme professionalism and the hotel allowed us to stay on our intended dates. You are required to pay as a fee for the hotels prepared buffet meals. Upon booking, we thought it was a little pricey..upon eating, we were so happy that La Luz offered this package--it's more than worth it! We were there on Valentine's Day and the hotel threw a beautiful dinner party on the beach, with a wonderful singer for entertainment. I am already planning my next trip to La Luz. Next time I'll bring my boyfriend, as the resort could also be very romantic.

Amazing Resort, Superb Service, Gorgeous Beach...”
La Luz Beach Resort was the best! From service to comfort to beauty to paradise...I have to say that I was a little unsure at first when making the booking, and finding the exact location was a little tricky, but when we got there, it was more than we had anticipated. My family and I had a wonderful time. The long stretch of beautiful and clean sandy beaches, the amazing variety of fish during our snorkeling expedition and the beautiful cabanas added to the appeal of La Luz. The food provided was good too. On top of it all, we felt very secure there, with only a few interesting peddlars allowed within the compound, making buying accessories + bargaining more fun, not intimidating. We will definitely go back again to La Luz in the near future.

Nice place to relax”
La Luz Beach resort is located at the far end of the long beach so it's very peaceful. It's nice to just relax at their cabanas feeling the sea breeze and listening to the waves. We actually fell asleep at the cabana. So relaxing. The room is also nice. No TV so perfect time to talk and bond. I think the only suggestion for La Luz is for them to be transparent with their additional fee of PHP 1,700 fee for buffet package per person per day, which is separated with the Room Rates. They should stipulate that in their website CLEARLY and in other booking sites like AGODA etc. because 1,700 per person is not cheap right? and for some this may come as a surprise that they need to pay that amount to avail the buffet package per day per person. Since this is not CLEARLY stipulated in AGODA or their site, other guest may find this as a HUGE surprise or sadly for some, be treated as a hidden charge which I think is bad for your business. JUST STATE IT IN ADVANCE TO YOUR SITES CLEARLY.

Best Option in Laiya”
I've stayed in about 5 different resorts in the Laiya, San Juan stretch. La Luz eventually became our default. The rooms are good sized and comfy. On a budget, stay in the Annex. More budget, stay in the main section. Both have easy access to plentiful beachfront lounge areas. La Luz also has the best beachfront - left side for swimming, right side for snorkeling in the fish sanctuary. (The Laiya stretch tends to have rocky beachfront and the La Luz area is less so)

Fantastic”
We stayed march12-13 2014.. I can't imagine there would be a fantastic beach resort like this that would be so affordable and worth the money. Im so much in love w/ the quiet surroundings you would here the sound waves at night thats so relaxing.. Their food was superb its 1350 per person includes lunch, snack dinner breakfast, so yummmy!! Their spa was awesome. I would surely go back at la luz its for family, friends and big groups :D

Excellent beachfront”
I've stayed in about 4 or 5 resorts in the Laiya area. As far as facilities goes, La Luz would be on the upper half of the list but not on top. However, this place has by far the best beachfront. I wanted to simply lay in the sand then swim, there was an area for that. My sister wanted to go snorkeling, they had an excellent area for that. Sand quality was the same as in other stretches in Laiya but once in the water there was considerably less rocks, more marine life, and a much, much wider beachfront. My only negative would be the food. First that when we called, it was not explained to us that the set meals would start at lunch of the day we arrived (the girl on the phone seemed to be in a hurry) which we had to negotiate at the office to move it to lunch of our departure date so as not to waste what we paid for. Second was that while the food was not bad, for some reason it was just always lukewarm despite the chafing dishes. Quite weird.

Family Bonding at La Luz”
La Luz was not too difficult to find as the directions are pretty easy to follow. It is a long drive from Manila. La Luz is a nice quiet resort that was not crowded. Food is not included in the price you pay on Agoda. There will be an additional charge at the resort for each person, up to 1500 peso. That includes lunch day of check in, snack, dinner and breakfast the next day. Food is buffet style, beer, wine and spirits available for a charge. Beach and resort were undergoing some renovations so there was a little noise to deal with, but not too bad. Water was clear and clean. Waves were stronger in the afternoon than the morning time. Overall not a bad stay for the money you pay, a very good value. Don't go expecting a US standard 4 or 5 star hotel. This is the Philippines and for an average filipino family this is a great stay. They have trail bikes, kayaks, bannan boats, snorkling and motor boating available for a fee.

Your home away from home”
Choosing this resort as our first getaway with our four-legged member of the family was indeed one of the best decisions we ever made. Everybody in the resort made us right at home. From the well-mannered manong guard to the animated reception officer and every single staff member on duty when we stayed there. The room we stayed in has that rustic appeal, with the bamboo furniture and all. The three-way bathroom in our room proved to be very convenient. The food was appealing and the dining area was enchanting (especially at night). Don't be afraid that you'll miss out on your meal, because surprisingly enough, staff members will be there to remind/invite you to have your lunch, dinner, etc. We enjoyed our stay here and we'll definitely come back and recommend La Luz to all our friends!

Batangas Gem”
Though we weren't able to enjoy the beach because of the typhoon, we really had a great time staying staying in La Luz. The staff are friendly and accomodating, everything is clean. However, SOME of the dishes served during our served during our stay are tasteless, and really needs improvement on this area. The beach beds are already broken and needs to be replaced. Nonetheless, we recommend and definely coming back to La Luz.

Hidden Paradise”
When we visited La Luz Resort, i am already suffering from an injury due to a sprained uncle which causes difficulty in my walking. With the assistance given to me by their staffs, i was able to walk from my car up to our designated comfy and homy room. I am very delighted with the attention they gave us. It is a hotel regulation to forbid anyone to eat inside the rooms, but because of my condition, they did not hesitate to bend their rules for the comfort of their guests. They even assisted my wife in bringing in the foods inside the room - the food is great btw! And the best part of our stay is when they send their company nurse to check my sprained uncle without any charges whatsoever. Thanks nurse Gemma and the rest of the team! Kudos to all! We surely be coming back!

Generally OK but mandatory food was a shocker!”
La Luz beach resort review Pros The rooms were good. The place was reasonably well maintained. The staff were generally friendly and smiled when eye contact was made. The beach was the usual brown sand and the water went deep after about 5 meters. This should come with warnings. Also, the waves were pretty strong. So children must be supervised at all times. I enjoyed the beach and the water. They had plenty of materials to rent. Such as boats, snorkeling kits, beach balls etc. Location: From San Juan, it's about 40 minutes on a public jeepney. The cost was 40 pesos. The driver dropped me right outside the main entrance of the resort. Cons: I had to tell them to clean my room on the second day. They don't do it automatically. The beach hut I used did not have working lights. I was just too lazy to tell them. The lights would have made it cosier during the early hours. The biggest downside for this resort was the food. There was a hidden cost for the buffet food and it was not well placed when booking via Agoda. So the cost came as a surprise. Also when checking in, they got me to sign a paper where I had to pay a surcharge for food and drinks I brought from outside. Also, the cost for the meal plan was almost extortionate at 1500 pesos. The selection was small and catered for local people. Also, being a vegetarian it was quite difficult for me as there was only some salad. On the first day, I had what was on offer. That night I went to the toilet about 8 times because of eating the food. I complained to the office and told them that I didn't want to eat the food because it was giving me problems. The lady at the office politely persisted and came up with lousy excuses. I realised that whether I ate or not, that I would have to pay. She said the staff can make something vegetarian. I ask what would be on offer. The answer was some salad. Not that appetising. If you are vegetarian or cannot eat meat products then this place is not going

Beach needs further ”
We stayed here last October 30-31. We didn't have our own car but managed to find the hotel without hassle (thanks to the detailed direction provided by the hotel). But actually, there was a better way to get here, i think its time for la luz to update their site. We took the bus from cubao to lipa city and rode tricycle, then jeepney, to get to san juan, which cost us Php. We just later realized that there were buses (specifically ALPS) which directs to san juan and it only costs, i think Php. We stayed at sampaloc C. It was a huge room with two single beds, though I believe that I booked a room with a queen sized bed, but that's ok, no big deal. There was a large shower room separated from the toilet room and a veranda facing the beach. The lights were quite dim, not actually pleasing for those who wanted to read. I suggest they should install optional white lights because there were times that I had this "hair-raising feeling" (thanks to my imaginative brain!..haha!). It is mandatory to pay Php1,100 for the buffet-style foods which I think is fair enough. I loved the breakfast, they serve kapeng barako, pandesal, tocino..etc.. The beach was very nice in the morning though there were lots of trash on some part of the beach, but i loved the area besides the rocks, the water was clear, I was just hesitated to go far for snorkeling since I don't know how to swim. Over all, the resort was great for those who really are looking for relaxation.

Very nice resort with nice beach and coral reef.”
The check-in, check-out was pretty fast. The premiere suite was pretty ok. Additional $30 (approx) for inclusive buffet lunch, snack, dinner, breakfast per day. Food was good and plentiful, but in our 2nd day, there was a big group that checked-in and the refill during mealtime was slower or did not refill at all. It was my third time in Laiya, but the first time in La Luz and the reef located in front of the resort was a pleasant surpise. The kids enjoyed snorkling and a wide variety of fish was there, from lion fish, butterfly fish, tangs, clown fish, etc. Too bad that you also see garbage in the reef, which may have been coming from other resorts too. Overall, it was a nice stay and will consider returning.

Nice rooms, great food!”
If you love sunrise, your morning will be much awaited in La Luz. If you love the sunset on the otherhand, you'll witness it's dramatic view on the right end of the beach. The rooms are really nice. You'll have your private balcony too. Bathroom and toilet are separate, best when you're room is full. The hotel building is facing the cabanas on the beach and the big cabana which serves as their dining/resto. Very welcoming staff and they serve incoming guests with sweet and refreshing gulaman drinks and a cold towel. They put up a bonfire on the beach at night. But what i cannot forget is the great food that i did not expect. Highly recommended for relaxation outside the city, for easy and quiet outdoor, and for massage and great food. Cons: We did not go swimming. Beach was not very inviting. The beach is like all pebbles, you cant even walk without your slippers. Found few cigarette butts on the beach pebbles too. And i did not find a lifeguard on duty.

Wonderful beach resort”
Our group had a great time relaxing for three days at La Luz. The rooms were simple but clean and the beach was fantastic. The staff was very helpful and we were able to arrange a snorkeling trip one day. The food was great each day and it was nice to not have to worry about where to eat for each meal. I definitely hope to go again!
