Peaceful oasis in amongst a noisy city.”
Had a great stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff were very friendly, attentive and professional. Great buffet breakfast with chefs cooking fresh omelettes etc. The pool is fantastic (not many hotels in town with a pool) and was our location of choice during the middle of the hot Summer days. Taxis just outside the hotel driveway ready to take you anywhere. Internet (wifi) available in the foyer, however either slow or not working. There is an internet cafe just round the corner with good wifi / landline connection and quite cheap. The trick in Mandalay is to use the internet from late morning through to about 5.00pm. Either side of that it is very slow due to it being the peak use period and the country not having a good network at this time. I would definitely recommend this hotel compared to many others in Mandalay.

Lovely hotel, lovely staff.”
The Mandalay City Hotel is exactly what they say it is in the hotel information. It an oasis in the city with a lovely swimming pool surrounded by tropical trees, it's well away from the busy road and the hotel is kept incredibly clean. The bed was very comfortable and my room had a excellent bathroom. The staff were absolutely wonderful and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

A quiet city oasis”
Anyone who has travelled in Myanmar knows not to have high expectations when it comes to hotels, particularly in the cities outside of Yangon. The Mandalay City Hotel was nice surprise. Not the most modern or lavishly equipped hotel in the world it could best be described as very comfortable (although anyone with difficulties climbing stairs should request a room on the lower floors). We opted for a deluxe room and found it to be very good value for money. What makes its convenient city centre location unique is that it is set back from the street and surrounded on all sides so you don't see or hear the hustle and bustle of Mandalay. However, if you go for a walk, take notice of the hotel driveway location as we accidently walked past it a couple of times. The small but inviting pool area was a nice place to spend a few hours after a long very hot and humid day exploring Mandalay. As with the vast majority of Hotel food I have experienced in Mandalay the breakfasts here were just OK. Then again the breakfast was free. The staff are friendly and were very efficient in helping book ferry tickets for the next leg of our trip.

Mandalay City Hotel was a quiet refuge to escape to during the middle of the day when it is far too hot for sightseeing. Nice pool & garden. Clean comfortable room (air conditioned!!). Good meals & friendly helpful staff. Good central location.

An oasis in the city center of Mandalay”
Mandalay is a very busy city and we were very pleasantly surprised when our taxi driver entered a backyard via a small tunnel; the hotel is built into a former bus station protected from the noisy city by the houses surrounding it; the houses are not visible due to trees planted and bamboo walls; the swimming pool is nice and surrounded by a little garden; it was very hot in Mandalay during our visit (+46C)and returning to the hotel was like finding back to a oasis.

Exceptional”
Mandalay City Hotel is located in the middle of a city block away from the street. I could not hear any traffic noise from my room. The staff were courteous, and the breakfast was great. This was a great steal for the off-season price I paid.

Little oasis of calm in the middle of the Mandalay”
The hotel is perfectly located near the south west corner of the Palace. Despite being on a very busy road, the hotel is extremely quiet as it's hidden in the middle of a block and you gain access by going through a gated passage way under another building. As you walk into the hotel you hear the gentle trickle of the water feature and immediately you feel calmed. The common areas are very smart, the staff are friendly and helpful. The room itself was a bit of let down after all that. It was very small and felt quite dated, (e.g. a CRT TV, shower curtain, etc.) - certainly if that room was typical, it needs some investment on updating the decor and fittings. Breakfast was good. Note that all restaurants in Mandalay seem to close around 9-10pm, including the one in the hotel - a surprise for a big city, so plan accordingly.

Great value for money”
This was a great place to stay in Central Mandalay. It is a good standard and has nice facilities for a three star hotel, such as the beautiful pool. It was very enjoyable to have lunch by the pool as well. Rooms were clean and neat, although a bit small. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast had a good selection of European and Asian options. I would definitely stay here again!

Oasis in the city center”
The hotel met expectations. The key of the hotel success is its staff. The speak very good English and always greeting you with a smile when you arrive. The breakfast in the morning was OK. The room amenities were as described in the website. I was very happy with it. The location of the hotel is in the heart of Mandalay. A cheap “Blue taxi” will take you anywhere. NOTE: There are no ATMs in the country, so bring a lot of cash. The money needs to be like new. If old and stained, they will not accept it. I almost ran out of money due to this.

This is a reasonably priced hotel in the downtown area of Mandalay. Very close to the Palace and other sights. The room was small but adequate and the staff very attentive. The pool and garden are beautiful. Very nice Burmese and Western breakfast buffet included. Hotel seems to cater to tour groups.

An Oasis in the City”
This is a rare hotel in the Mandalay. Most hotels are located facing the streets which are subject to noise and pollution. But Mandalay City Hotel is hidden away from the streets and located behind rows of other buildings. Its location allows it to create its own hideout and provides a quiet environment. It has a lush landscaping which adds to its ambiance and makes it more of a resort feel. Their staff are very polite, helpful and responsive. It is good place to relax in a quiet environment after a full day of sight seeing.

Nice friendly and quiet hotel in a noisy city.”
Warm and friendly staff. Great breakfast buffet with the chefs cooking fresh omelettes. The hotel is located on a 'battle-axe' block. You enter from the noisy roadway through a tunnel, arriving in a quiet and green oasis surrounded with beautiful palm trees. The perfect location to escape from the hustle and bustle of this noisy and busy concrete jungle that is Mandalay. Internet is not the best, only worked about 50% of the time, however there is an internet cafe around the corner which has fast and cheap wifi and desktop internet. Taxis waiting just out front (cheap) to take you to sightseeing / restaurants etc.

The hotel is on the main drag so it is a lot quieter than the neighborhood would suggest. It is rather an oasis in the hustle and bustle of Mandalay. Excellent location, nice pool, and the restaurant staff is really marvelous. So kind and considerate. The doorman and valet were also super nice and the reception people were very sweet. 40 minutes to the unforgettable u-bein bridge- get there early, take a boat... See the sunset... Palace is nearby... Search for good food... We weren't so lucky... We got a driver from the hotel for the sunset, and kept him for 3 days.... Fantastic way to see the sights...

Oasis in city center!”
most 3 star or more are outside the city center, but the Mandalay city feel like its outside because you go through a tunnel from the busy streets to an Oasis filled with green, it has a pool & is nice & quiet off season & on season during the day the German & French tourists are out site seeing, buffet breakfast & kitchen open all day! staff are friendly, have had to ask to get hotter water for the shower, & be careful around the pool the tiles are too slippery when wet, but i like to be able to walk around the city & down to the market without having to get a taxi like outside the city center, but its a nice place to come back to after being out!

mandalay city hotel has a nice location in mandalay, near the palace and market,the hotel accommodations include breakfast buffet, with pool, but no gym. the staffs were all friendly,the breakfast buffet were just fine,the only problem i encountered was many mosquitoes in my room, but after the insect repellant spray, it was ok. the room was ok.

An Oasis!”
The hotel is an oasis in the middle of the crazy, noisy streets of Mandalay. Set back off the road, it was a delightful refuge to return to after exploring the town. The staff helped us arrange a boat to Bagan and were very friendly. Nice breakfast as well that starts at 5:30am in case you are taking the early boat.

Another good value for money”
Mandalay hotel provided us with everything we needed. It was well located, friendly staff, good eating options around and decent rooms. Some parts could have done with a re-decoration but overall it was a great stay in this hotel and lovely city. We will consider staying there again should we decide to return to Mandalay at some point in the future.

Quiet, convenient clean hotel”
Very good. The whole place is well up to standard. The best bit is turning through a tunnel from noisy downtown Mandalay in a quiet forecourt with pools with fish in. The hotel has good staff and clean rooms. The bar is a bit quiet but has good choices.
