Relaxing, Warm Hospitality, Nice Food”
I have stayed at this place several times and whenever I went, I could spend wonderful time here. When I arrived at the main front, everyone was waiting making a line and gave a lot of smile. The hot spa here was clean and must have good effects on making our body feel hot/warm for a long time. Open air bath is really good but even it is rainy, we can enjoy beautiful inner bath. We can enjoy looking at beautiful lemon trees and fruits from some rooms, which is rare for many Japanese inn. I also like the food here. It seems the chef is always thinking about what to make according to there seasonal special products. If you want to experience the real Japanese style inn and spa, I can recommend this place. The manager and his wife both have good command of English.

Amazing experience ”
My partner and I stayed at this traditional Ryokan for 3 nights. The staff were absolutely amazing, as they were always kind, caring and helpful - they made our stay so enjoyable. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room, with a private Onsen, the room and Onsen was always clean. We were also able to enjoy a traditional Japanese breakfast, which was delicious! This experience has made our first visit to Japan so much more incredible, and highly recommend :)

Relaxing, Traditional, Friendly”
I stayed at this place several times. Whenever I (we stay), this place gives me such relaxing time. All staff is very kind and some of them speak very clear English. We use an inclined small cable car to get to an open air bath, which was very fun. In addition to these, meals are also very fine. It seems that the chief chef is stick to using local fresh fish or vegetables and all dishes were very tasty. Everything is good here.

Helpful staff and large rooms”
A peaceful old ryokan at the top of a hill above Ito town. The staff were caring and attentive and the rooms were quiet and large. The manager even helped drive us to our next destination himself! We enjoyed our stay and would return!

Interestin experience ”
This traditional ryokan is operating since 1910. Thus, it has a very traditional approach in hospitality. The staff are very warm & polite. Very helpful to point out directions & recommendations to places of interests. The GM & his wife, Emi ( i hope i remember correctly) speaks good english & are very helpful. Our stay in 'Japanese Style Room', no ensuite(communal bath) , included daily breakfast, & we paid extra for a dinner, which is very worth it. The food is delicious, & the experience is amazing. Alll meals, when are there, are served in our room. The in-house onsen (2 of them) are also great, that is, if you are not shy to walk naked among strangers. We had a complimentary ride to Ito stn after our stay. Yokikan ryokan is a classic, if you are looking for a true, traditional experience. Go for it! Good!

Genuine Japanese Ryokan and Onsen Experience”
The best word to describe my experience in staying at Yokikan was "Excellent!" Yokikan is just a short walk from the heart of downtown Ito, but since I had been traveling much of the day to get to Ito I took a cab from Ito Station to the Ryokan. The front desk immediately reimbursed me for the cab! Multiple staff greeted me by name at the front door and the assistant GM explained the Onsen and traditional Ryokan aspects of the property as part of the check-in process. My room (205) was huge and had a view back into town. On entering the room a nice staff lady came by and served me hot tea and a sweet and refreshing dessert treat! Wow!! The room was a traditional tatami mat room, with table and pillowed floor seat as well as a 'deck' area with two comfortable chairs and a small table. After dinnertime a staff member came by and setup my futon bed -- super comfortable and great warm comforter. The room also had a restroom, modern AC/heater, TV, fridge and tea as well as towels and yukata for in-room and onsen use. The two indoor onsens were nice, but the outdoor one was fantastic! To get to it you either walked up a huge number of steps or, as I did, took a really cool funicular "up the mountain" to get to the onsen. Great views from the onsen (hot spring) back into Ito. My room came with breakfast and dinner served in-room. Both were what I would call terrific multi-course Japanese "delicacy" eating, Amazing fresh seafood, veggies, miso, and other Japanese treats that will put an ear-to-ear grin on the face of any fellow foodies out there! The general manager, Akihisi Inaba and his wife both went out of their way to speak with me and he gave me some excellent suggestions for things to see in the area. The Ryokan has been in his family for 5 generations and the beauty and elegance of the place was really a highlight of my time in Japan. I cannot speak more highly of the experience I had at Yokikan -- it was just Excellent.

Great place to relax”
Stayed there for 2 nights to relax before going back to Tokyo following the trip to Kansai area. Yokikan is located not far from Ito JR station (3 minutes by taxi, 10 minutes by walk). Staffs were very friendly and helpful. There are 2 indoor baths and 1 outdoor bath, all were great particularly the outdoor one as you can have nice city view. It is an old ryokan but things are very well maintained. The room is spacious, a great relief after staying in an Osaka hotel... Lobby area is equipped with great foot massage machine, the best that I've ever tried... If you are looking for a ryokan in a quiet neighborhood with great hot spring baths, spacious guest room and reasonable price... this is a perfect place Definitely will come back again.

We really enjoyed our stay ”
My family enjoyed our stay at Yokikan very much. The owner and his wife speak very good English and they made us feel very comfortable. We requested for meals when we arrived even though we did not do so when we booked the rooms. They accommodated and the breakfast and dinner were in generous portions and variety. The indoor and outdoor onsen are very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the ride on the funicular to the open air onsen at the higher elevation. The rooms were large and spacious with attached toilets. Location was very convenient. It is 10 min from Ito station and 15 min walk to the seaside and fish port where the fishermen bring in their catch in the morning. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Ito.

English-speaking manager/owner (?). VERY helpful!”
Fantastic! Although lobby/common areas could use some updating, they were all clean and well-maintained. The staff was top-notch! Manager, Aki, bent over backward to help us with special food request and ideas for sightseeing. He even drove us all back to the train station (2 trips!!). Best part was he changed one of our rooms to a 1st floor location as my elderly mom was having trouble negotiating the stairs. Food and service were amazing!! Very nice and spacious rooms. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Thank you so much to Ryokan Ito Yokikan!

Wonderful stay for ryokan first-timers”
Our stay at Yokikan was amazing! We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff and introduced to our traditional ryokan experience by the owner, a pleasant man who talked to us at length about what to do during our stay. Our spacious room was on top of the hill (reachable by funicular, which was a neat experience) and close to the outdoor onsen. We love the place - we wished we had a longer stay! We decided to have breakfast on our last day and were served a traditional meal with local produce in a private room. I highly recommend spending a little more to try out the delicious breakfast!

Beautiful place!”
It was our second time in Yokikan and we were very happy to come back to this place. You can not only have a great ryokan experience, but also relax in the amazing outdoor bath with a breathtaking view. The staff is very friendly and speak English. The town of Ito is also a great place to see, so you can do some sightseeing and then have a hot bath :)

Great traditional Japanese experience”
The ryokan has more than 100 years' history, saying that, the room has everything you can expect in modern ryokan (great WIFI, toilet, bathroom with onsen water in the room, etc.) The owner and his wife were very nice and offered us a lift to the Ito station when we departed. The food was so great, in particular the dinners. Walking distance to everything, there is a big drug/cosmetic store, a few convenience stores and a superamarket. Very nice and would definitely recommend it!

I loved every minute at Yokikan. The manager gave a nice explanation about the Ryokan, Onsen and the neighbourhood of Itō. The onsen was very nice and clean. The food was delicious. The manager even gave me a ride to the train station.

Awesome, english-friendly authentic Ryokan!”
Not enough words to explain how wonderful this Ryokan is! The owner, Inaba-san and his wife, Emi-san are absolutely spectacular. Educated at U.C. Berkeley in the California by area, Inaba-san speaks fluent English and Japanese and offers a warm and hospitable greeting to all his guests. He will sit down and explain to you the hotel's policy re. onsen (hot spring bath use), hotel features and sight-seeing tips around Izu. He recommended we visit Mt. Omura (a crater rim walk where you take a ski-type-chair-lift to the top) as well as the Jogusaki suspension bridge walk (just 10 mins from Mt. Omura) - both great places to visit. -- Japanese tatami rooms were spectacular and large! 3rd floor rooms are the best - you take a funicular (old tram-style elevator) to get to your room. The outdoor hot spring is located atop the hill also. Provides mixed-gender bathing for most of the day but ladies-only hours as well for women who prefer more privacy. Overall a great, cozy ryokan, which has been around for over 100 years. A must visit!

An Unforgettable Stay@Yokikan”
We feel at home although we were far away from our own home. At the beginning, the owner took great pride in explaining everything we need to know regarding our stay at Yokikan. It was rather lengthy but we truly appreciate their passionate service. We love the room, spacious, clean, well equipped. The onsen facility was what we look forward to at the end of the day. It was therapeutic especially after driving the entire day. The service was excellent. I was planning to go to a strawberry farm and they took pain in making sure that the farm was open on that particular day. So thumbs up to u at Yokikan. We have enjoyed our stay and we will certainly come back. Thank you for making my trip memorable. By the way, thank you for the special gift that you have given us. We appreciate very much.
