Absolutely lovely”
This property has exceeded my expectation in terms of the ambience, facility, cleanliness, and most importantly the quality of service. I was a bit unfortunate to have left my watch at the hotel I checked out the day before I checked in at Baien. Though I had earlier sent a message via Instagram to enquire about it, I received no response, and so when I was checking in at Baien, I asked the front desk officer Pralhad Pathak to help me contact the hotel. He was so kind to make a phone call at once and relayed my enquiry to the hotel staff for me since I don’t speak Japanese. Although it didn’t help to locate my watch, Pralhad made further effort to help me find the email address of the hotel (which was surprisingly not readily available) so that I could make a more formal enquiry. He even asked me the next morning whether I received any good news about my watch! I am very grateful to Pralhad for what he had done for me. He’s very helpful indeed. Back to the suite where I stayed in. It was spacious and the open air bath was just great!! There was also a very large indoor bath. One thing which could improve is that there were two small windows in the room which have no curtains. Apart from that, everything else was lovely. Food was delicious and nicely presented. I would love to stay at Baien again next time when I go to Yufuin.

Very good service and pleasant stay”
Yufuin Baien is very responsive to our request, I wrote in to tell them my concern regarding my parents unable to sleep in futon. And they arranged the room with two western bed for my parents and even carried our luggage to our room and all their staffs are very friendly and responsive. The guy Onsen has a very beautiful view of mountain and the private Onsen is an additional advantage too. Yufuin Baien is about 15 minutes walk away from Kirin lake. From there, we get to explore the Yufuin main street which is very walkable. They provide free parking too and I really enjoy their Japanese breakfast.

Impeccable hospitality, excellent onsens”
Absolute best hotel I've ever stayed at. Amazing kaiseki dinner. Impeccable service. You can use the private onsen (subject to availability) even when you didn't book the rooms with in-room onsens. Amazing mountain view. Staff can communicate in simple English. Unforgettable stay.

A bit out of the way, but hotel is of high quality”
Great if you are traveling by car, but you may want to take a taxi if traveling by public transportation by bus to Yufuin. Baien has top notch onsen facilities and a pleasant garden next to the ryokan.

Very good”
The public onsen (open air) was nice and big. There were only two kazoku onsen where no booking was required, and both were highly demanded. Did not have a chance to use it. Perhaps they should change the system.

Beautiful place ”
Pros: spacious and cozy room, great food, nice staff Cons: not close to the main area, improvement in cleanliness - found the clothing label in the living room, insect when using the indoor hot spring inside the room, lack of manpower - called the reception counter a few times but no one answered, really cold at night- would be great if an electric blanket can be provided for the beds

2018 birthday trip to Japan”
Trip 9th to 14th Nov, Yufu, Beppu and Hakata. First night staying at Hotel Baien. Late check in at 7:15pm due to highway bus fully booked until 5:00pm. Once check in, we were brought to the dinning floor! (They know us..... we are starving!). Dinner was so nice! Around 9:00pm, finished our dinner, we were shown to the facilities (hot spring area) and our room (Japanese Style)! Service 100% excellent! Meal 100% Baien Style! This is a 100% top onsen hotel in Yufu. Don’t forget to try out the private onsen especially for couple and family use or.... if you are too shy! 🙈

Fantastic”
It was a memorable stay at Baien. My grandmother and I had a wonderful time. the hotsprings were beautiful and perfectly warm even though it was below zero. The family hot spring was private and popular. We were lucky to get into one. The supper and breakfast were served in a most superior way however, perhaps it was too Japanese taste for me.. the location was a bit away from the train station but, it was great that way because the place was kept quiet. Staffs were very friendly and helpful, thank you for your service! I would visit again!

Great onsen ryokan for couple and family”
Baien is a great natural spring (onsen) ryokan, provides great services, very friendly staffs, free parking, huge garden that you can have a nice morning walk. I recommend to select packages with breakfast and dinner, tasty food and value for money. It has two family onsens which can be used privately for your family only. Alternatively, public baths are great too.

Great open air onsen with a view of Mt. Yufu”
I had a night stay at this ryokan everything was great but they can improve on their kaiseki dinner. The meat and the seafood weren’t fresh. The whole kaiseki experience was very disappointing. The night stay was comfortable and the open air onsen was not bad when you get to overlook Mt.Yufu while soaking in the onsen. I would save money on the kaiseki dinner because it wasn’t worth the money value.

Beautiful rooms, with impeccable services. Only setback was there is no showers in the room. All showers to be done at the onsen area,
