Ideal for me”
You can walk to Kaosan road from here. It's in a great location if you're looking to watch the Muay Thai at the stadium or visit the temples nearby. The place is really clean and I loved how the room was designed and decorated. Although it's small the toilet is separated from the shower to keep one area dry. Everything is new and well kept inside. My only complaint was that I had difficulty communicating with one of the staff members there.

Dear Mr. Clayton, Thank you for giving us positive feedback while you had difficulty in communicating with one of our team. Can you please mention who was he/she so that we can improve our staff's communication skill and attention. We look forward to have you as a guest with better service and help in our hotel. Best Regards, Myint
Solo travel in Bangkok”
The room is spacious and very clean. It's a quiet street so guests can relax and there's a 7/11 close by. It's located far from train stations though so it's hard to get there easily unless you ride a taxi.

Recommend with caveats”
This is my Bangkok home away from home. Easy to get to and from with the water taxi/BTS from airport. Or scooter/taxi to Bobae tower/market (everyone knows where Bobae is, then a short walk down Damrongkrak to the hotel). Have been staying here for years now (get the "lagoon view" room that overlooks the canal, MUCH quieter until the morning when the water taxi's start up) and the layout works well for me, small bed (but enough for one), small shower/toilet, but enough. Like that the small sleeping rooms do NOT have TV's, simple amenities (WIFI, A/C), but enough to work there. Love that there's a kitchen to use and washer/dryer. Makes it easy to feel at home in crazy Bangkok. The bad: things are getting older and showing their age (fixtures, shower, toilet seat, etc.), but it still works for me.

Calm within good location”
first timers in bangkok, we opted for a 4 nights stay at smile inn and ended up staying 8 nights. the hotel is located within 30 minutes walk to pretty much every main interest point in central bangkok without all the noise you find everywhere else. this is a cosy hotel with friendly staff with all the facilities we needed, including reliable wifi and laundry. as well, the place is pretty safe, clean and pretty much renovated. i would recommend you to print out the directions map for the taxi driver or simply note the phone number for him to call the hotel. it'll save you time and hassle.

Small hotel but good price”
I have a good moment in Bangkok thank to Smile Inn hotel. It's a small one, small room but I think it's ok for me, for a small business trip. It like just every small hotel in Europe. I checked in very late and with a great service, i can take my room in few minutes. I have necessary information that I need to visit bangkok with my tighten time. I'm very happy to comparing the price and the service. Just one thing, my room have street view and it quiet noisy.

Friendly and hardworking staff, authentic China Town ambience and comfortable value-for-money room.”
I had just stayed from 24 Oct to 29 Oct 2017. My experience is great, comparing to my seven other visits to different hotels in Bangkok. Next to the hotel is the famous canal that residents of Bangkok can take a motorised gondola to office/ shopping. Bus stops are nearby too, just 2 minutes' walk and from there a bus ride to mass rapid train BTS is only 5 mins. Famous Golden Mount Temple, Great Swing, Democracy monument and other landmarks and Khaosan Road are 10 -20 minutes walk, saving your transport cost and time. Staff gave valuable advise and assistance , my questions are always suitably answered. Kitchen / fridge are very helpful !!

Excellent staff”
The Smile Inn provides a very friendly, clean, quiet and safe place to stay in Bangkok at a fair price. The staff are always courteous and helpful. The rooms and common areas are kept immaculate - far better than some top end hotels. Security is on hand when reception is closed. There is a large clothes-market nearby. On the downside, the breakfast consists of just toast, jam and coffee. The location isn't known by many taxi drivers so best print out some directions before leaving home. The surrounding area is mainly small, house-sized industrial units. To sum up, if you want a safe base to explore Bangkok this it, if you're looking for party-central best look elsewhere.

We felt very welcome”
We have never stayed in this location in Bangkok before so we thought we would give it a go. Its not too far from the river, and pretty close to Khaosan Road. My wife was overjoyed because Bobae clothes market is 200 metres away! The staff were lovely and the rooms clean. I slept very well and the aircon was good. We were rather sorry to leave. My favourite bit was the canal we could see from our window, a real window into old Bangkok.

Safe and quiet location nearby the city center”
We stayed in November 2012 at Smile Inn. After booking i notified the hotel in an email we would arrive after midnight due to our flight schedule (1.30am); there was a quick answer (plus!). We chose this hotel because of its quiet location (not khao san area, but thanon damrong rak) and its proximity near the old city center. The checkin was quick enough (despite the night guard had to wake up the receptionist). There is a 1000THB deposit. Our room was at the first floor: no outside traffic noise coming in. There is key card security and a night guard so we felt safe in this location. The breakfast is best to be skipped (a few slices of bread, instant coffee can be used at the ground floor in lobby area), outside within 5 minutes walk you have access to several good thai breakfast options for low prices (35thb for rice with chicken + chicken broth). We had to ask the reception to clean the sheets and towels, we had the feeling the cleaning of the rooms could be a bit better. The water from showering drained very slow. You can do laundry + drying in a room behind the reception desk (need some 10thb coins for that) Upside: quietness (nearby Golden Mount, nearby Khlong Sean Seab express boats for going to shopping malls like MBK), friendly staff, convenient room. Downside: room cleaning not spot on, reception not always staffed, breakfast looks totally uninviting (but outside plenty options: streetfood stalls offering breakfast for 30-40THB). Hotel is difficult to find for taxi drivers even when showing the offered map... should really stress out to them "Bo Bae tower", and even sometimes assisting them (we had laptop with gps with us ). Despite it was not 100% perfect, we loved this place!

Great budget hotel, like new and clean room”
We re-booked at this hotel and stayed an extra couple of nights from our previous stay. Still it did not disappoint. Great service as usual, thanks Smile Inn!

Pleasant and Clean”
I stayed here one night while working at a site nearby. The rooms are clean, and large for the price range. I live in Bangkok and often get a room near worksites for big jobs so I have a pretty good idea what a room in this range should look like. I did not explore the facilities, as I had to get back to work, but the internet worked flawlessly. Only caveat: get a street side room if you're a light sleeper, the commuter boats start running on the canal behind the hotel at 6 am.

Lovely boutique hotel.”
We stayed 4 nights at Smile Inn. Could have made it longer if not for further travel plans. A very nice place to stay, with free wifi, complimentary breakfast, and super helpful and friendly staff.

Staff performance wise, could be better.”
Suprisingly valued for money, clean room. The female receptionists are kinda helpful. The legendary fat guy with spec everyone mentioned in their reviews will just avoid eye contact with you, he is like a business owner or manager there, but don't even bother talk to the guests. I can understand maybe his english is poor but at least you should smile with your guests dude. Location wise, a little bit far from attractions.

Great value”
Rooms were very comfortable, with AC, big beds, toilets that work, and abundant hot water. Our room only had a few glass blocks (no windows), but the decor was so bright, we didn't really miss the windows (and it cut out a lot of the traffic noise). The Inn backs up directly onto one of the canals, and has a nice, open-air lounge space where you can relax and watch the boat traffic and Bangkok canal life go on right outside.

I live in Bangkok. I stay here whenever I work on Krung Kasem road, and miss the traffic. I park at the worksite and walk here. Facilities are excellent for the price, always super clean, and the wifi is fast enough to binge watch Netflix.
