Location is right at the heart of sun moon lake. The bus is directly below the hotel. You walk up the hill a little and the hotel is right there. Foreigner friendly, two front desk ladies speak english. The room is very large. I requested for one bed, instead we received two king size beds + balcony with a beautiful view. Bathroom has a private door which I am particular with. A lot of rooms in Asia has a clear or see through bathroom with no privacy. Bathroom is a little small, but as long as its clean, I am not complaining. Breakfast was included and there we so many options. Wonderful breakfast. Hotel included complimentary rides to bus stop upon check in and check out.

Simple and clean”
It's feels like an older hotel and the outside grounds are not kept very well. But it's decent for the price and view of the lake. The balcony in each room, and the large deck facing the lake is the best part of the hotel. I think this hotel has a lot of potential, if only the owner would take better care of it and spend some money to renovate.

Cozy and spacious hotel. Nice and friendly staff, they are super helpful when you ask for shuttle to jetty or bus station at shui she. Free bicycle rental is available. Delicious breakfast on timber deck with nice view.

only issue we had was that there were lots of ants crawling into our VIP suite from the windows. The staff were quick to try to clear the problem with chemicals, however, we had concerns about the smells. Ant problem was controlled at the end.

Basic hotel with minimal but polite service. Some rooms have nice lake views, but beds are inside a box with edges above the mattress. Kinda like sleeping in a comfortable coffin.

Bamboo Rock Garden is a hotel away from the busiest areas of Sun Moon Lake. Staff are the best. Rooms are spacious. The view is breathtaking. You can get a bike for free from the hotel, some of them with child seat, and explore the lake. However, it is difficult and expensive to hire a taxi. I would suggest you to rent a car from the airport in Taipei, for more convenience, especially if you have babies or toddlers. Breakfast is basic, but good. The F&B could be better in this hotel, but they have English menu and the food is good. Only Chinese food though. There is a small coffee shop with waffles, toasts, tea and coffee. I would definitely come back to this place.

Things I wish I had known: 1. The hotel is at the top of a hill 2. You can call them to ask if they can pick you up (we did this before checking in since we had a lot of luggage). Can also ask if they will drop you off at the Visitor Center (did this after checking out) 3. We bought one of the NanTou Sun Moon Lake packages (NTD 390) that includes boat rides and exchanged it for boat tickets at the Visitor Center. After checking in they told us we could've exchanged for better boat rides at the hotel. 4. They have bikes you can use

Loved the room - very big and spacious, with a balcony showing a relatively good view of Sun Moon Lake. Service staff were also very friendly and chatty, providing us good suggestions of the things to do. The hotel is situated ~1.3km away from Shuishe Pier, where the main shops and F&B eateries are. While it’s an easy cycle/walk there, do note to bring along a headlamp if you’re heading there after the sun sets, as there is minimal lighting along the walking paths at night.
