Nice stay ”
Price is cheap and room is big.. Bed and pillows, bathroom also good.. But no hairdryer.. The receptionist is helpful and speaks English. Location is walking distance to night bazaar! U may need to close the windows at the road side as sometimes you might hear the noises from the bar next to the hotel.. but it was ok because i closed all the windows.
Nice large rooms with big comfortable bed. The staff all around was really great and the location was well situated within walking distance to most things and easy access to local transportation anywhere else. Very reasonable price for such a large room with balcony.
Worth the money, no frills hotel. Room A4 needs a serious cleaning of air conditioning; after 20 minutes it froze over and did not cool anymore. Reported that after the first night = second night nothing had happened.
Clean hotel. There was a minor booking issue that was quickly resolved by reception. Friendly staff, good location to nightlife and shopping. Would recommend
Nice stay ”
The room is good and value for money for those who wants to live nearby night bazaar.
great location and one for the budget conscious”
I have stayed here many times over the last three years, but sadly despite feeling great loyalty to the place and the staff there, it's in need of some serious TLC. Every time I was about to drift off to sleep there was a plumbing noise reverberating through the room which sounded pretty much like a freighter's fog horn. It's a real shame because apart from being, well, dated, the rooms are otherwise very comfortable and for Chiang Mai quite cheap, and the hotel is extremely well located a hop and skip off Loi Kroh Road. Maybe I'll give it a break for a while and try again mid next year,
Short Stay but it was fun with us ”
We always wanted to discover new place and not to stay inside the room all the time. Bautong lodge has a bath tub whre I enjoy soking and deep into watm water after long walks out sides.Very nice stay and as well the stuff thire very kind and friendly.
always good value”
I often stay here as it is great value, close to everything and the manageress is such a delight. Ok, it's old, but it's clean, every room has a bathtub and it's literally a stumble from Loy Kroh Road, It's also quiet, The beds are comfy, what more could you want? A pool? Sorry, you'll have to pay more for that!
We've stayed here a few times now and it's solid value. This time we unfortunately drew a short straw and had a small room, so try to avoid room four on any floor, it seems this is the smallest on offer and compares badly to the other rooms. That said it's a comfortable night in this aging beauty which is so close to many of Chiang Mai's best offerings, including Loi Kroh Road, the Night Bazaar and a little bit further away to Thapae Gate.
Service with a smile, ”
I've stayed here in the past and always enjoy my stay here, it's literally a triple jump off Loi Kroh Road so there's countless places to eat and drink within and easy walk. The receptionist is just an asset to the Lodge, nothing is too much trouble, she's friendly, helpful and let me tell you, there are many far more expensive places which can't boast this. Yes, the Lodge is getting old, and no, it's not perfect. But at the price it is very, very hard to beat. Every bathroom has a full bath tub with shower over, the rooms have good sized refrigerators and old style TV's (c'mon, this is Chiang Mai, who wants to watch TV!!!) Anyway, I for one will keep going back to this gem.
Better than Home”
They describe their rooms as fully-furnished, and are they ever! Comfy bed, chairs, full size fridge, desk, it had everything. My room was bigger than most apartments I have lived in and was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Bautong. The kitchen was closed for the Songkran holiday, but there are so many wonderful places to eat in the neighborhood, it didn't matter.
terrific location, close to everything and quiet!”
I have now stayed at so many places in Chiang Mai my head is spinning, but this is rather good. I tend to look at price first, and concentrate on bargains, which are getting harder and harder to find, but this one comes at an average to below average price. The rooms are dated but spacious and clean, and the bathroom I had was huge, with a full bathtub! Even though the lodge is only fifty metres off Loy Kroh Road, the major nightlife area, it is incredibly quiet. The staff were very helpful, particularly the manager during the day time, and she always went out of her way to ask how I was and if I needed anything. Although I didn't use the service it appeared they would be well equipped to assist with tours or referrals. Similarly, I didn't use the breakfast or adjoining restaurant but they certainly looked clean and offered a good menu. Breakfast was not included in my package, which is ok, I don't usually eat it, but at 100 baht it looked like pretty good value compared to many hotels. The bed was comfortable and made for really good, restful sleeps. All in all I would definitely stay here again, it's not for the five star traveller but it does offer a good place to sleep at a good price with so much of Chiang Mai's vibrant night life pretty much at your door. three minute walk to the night bazaar, or you can walk to the Saturday or Sunday walking streets without any problem. Also, in this area, if you had to wait more than twenty seconds for a tuk tuk or taxi, there'd be something very wrong!
Nice people, very quiet and good location but with some issues”
Positives: Very nice staff, near the night Bazaar, and good-sized room with a large balcony. Negatives: 1- I got the deluxe room which is supposed to be a top room, but it had 3 main problems: The balcony door didn't close, the bathroom faucet was broken and the shower was as high as my chest while I am an average height guy. They fixed the first two but never fixed the shower even though I spoke with the maintenance person and the manager lady. I did see reviews about fixing and not fixing somethings, but I ignored them and had to pay for it :( 2- They cleaned the room as best as they could but the towels and rugs are worn out and grayish, also they didn't smell so good. Despite the fact that staff is wonderful in that hotel, I will not go back there because it's not practical for me. It's not expensive but not that cheap either. For the same price or less, I can get a decent room with zero maintenance issues near by. Please check the room before the guest arrives.
Solo Chiang Mai trip”
This place isn't too hard to find using my GPS. Walking distance to the bars and restaurants. The rooms are more cosy and home-style, not with the usual hotel furnishing. Slightly aged but room is okay.
A great budget hotel”
This hotel isn't fancy and doesn't try to be, but it's definitely adequate, the staff are super friendly and do everything they can to be helpful, and it's located nicely between the old city and the night market. We've stayed there before and this stay was just as enjoyable as the last one. We'd happily choose them again and probably will when we're next in Chiang Mai. Definitely recommended!
clean,quiet,and helpful staff.”
I checked in for 2 days and stayed for 6.I found it to be a good location and clean and comfoftable.Nothing fancy and a little old but a good value for the money. The receptionist speaks excellent english and is very professional and helpful. The budget traveler should be happy at the Bautong Lodge.
good option in the night market area”
This is my first time staying in this budget guesthouse. The staff are friendly and the place is clean, hot water is available at the lobby. Overall is a good choice for budget travellers near the night market area.
Great location but better value out there”
In high season this probably represents value. Location is good, but with Chiang Mai's hotel boom of recent years there are many vacant rooms available outside high season and deep discounts are possible. If staying more than a few days, check around.
great stay ”
Great hotel for a long stay in Chiang Mai. Spacious room with separate shower and bathtub, cleaned daily. Free water bottles anytime. Good location, halfway between the old city and the night market walking street. Everything was easily accessible. The staff was always smiling and helpful, asking if we needed anything. No breakfast was the only disappointment, but there were several places just outside the hotel that served good hot breakfasts.
Value for money and friendly staff”
Location are quite good. 5-8 min walking distance to pub, restaurant, massage and 7-11. Have some temple nearby. Walking to Tapae gate take about 20-25 min depend on individual. A lot of temples and Sunday night market is a must visit at Tapae gate. Hotel wifi is unstable. It is suitable for solo travellers or couples. The shower room is the semi transparent glass door, no privacy if staying with your friends or family members unless this is not the issue.
