Alajuela hotels & places to stay

Pool was so freezing that our kids cried. We had reserved 2 nights based on the pool so was a major disappointment. The gym only had 3 pieces of equipment and a few weight balls. Would be nice to have another treadmill (we waited multiple times) and some free weights. The staff was amazing- very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is also one of the best I’ve seen as far as selection so it was nice to start out the day with a great meal. The location was nice in that it was close to the airport but terrible location in terms of being able to do anything within walking distance. If you just need a place to get to the airport I would recommend this hotel. If you are there to spend time in the pool with a family, I would look elsewhere.

FIRST time staying at Hotel Mango. Chose it because of close proximity to SJO Airport as my sister had an early morning flight the next day. We had stayed up the street at the Holiday Inn Express upon arrival to San Jose and liked the location but decided to find something more affordable. Hotel Mango is a smaller, gated property. Much more quaint and Tico style than the American chain two blocks away. The woman at front desk was very pleasant and helpful. The common areas and our room were clean and comfortable. Will recommend Hotel Mango.

our room had 1 full bed, and 1 twin bed, so as it was very small and since we had to get our luggage ready for the flight, the twin bed served as our staging area for suitcases. the bath was tiny but smelled and looked very clean. we sat out back by the pool and read, and also out front in the rocking chairs on the porch. there is also a sitting area in the office area thatwe sat in to read. the road is being worked on out front, so at times traffic would back up, and right now there isn't much walking area. there is a coffee shop next door that had some of the best coffee we had in costa rica......since it's all good, that is staying something. it is called don mayo. it was great to be so close to the airport, because there was a traffic jam out front when it was time for us to leave, and the driver got us there in plenty time using a back road. the breakfast was delicious, and everyone was very nice and friendly.

Super close to the airport and in Alajuela, so you don’t have to deal w the San Jose traffic. This was the first and last place I stayed, given its loan but also the friendliness, helpfulness, and consideration of the staff. Great people here!

this hostel is very cute and sweet decorated. we felt comfortable and the stuff was very friendly (though he couldnt speak english and couldnt help with our bustravelling, but he tried :)). so we staied there for 1 night and it was def. okay for that

This was just a resting point as we arrived late at night. It's nothing fancy but is close to the hotel so convenient. Nice little back court yard to have a basic breakfast in. I was concerned about children staying in a top bunk bed with no safety rail. This seems to be a common feature in Costa Rica however.

It neither disappointed nor over achieved it was just what I thought it would be clean, comfy, convienient and safe. It had a pool that looked nice but we didn't get the chance to partake. The airport cab was AWSOME! We would stay again for sure!

We had been traveling in Costa Rica for three weeks this was our last night stop. Staff was helpful , room clean, airport shuttle on time. Enjoyed Alajuela town square on a Sunday afternoon just blocks away.

It was lovely to spend our last day in Costa Rica at a hotel that was charmingly unique and not a chain hotel. The staff went above and beyond to help with our various questions. We were able to exchange our leftover colones for dollars and take the shuttle to the airport, relaxed and ready for the long flight home.

the hotel is close to the airport and served its purpose of letting stay near the hotel for my flight the next day. the staff was helpful, and when english was an issue their use of google translator was inventive and served its purpose. the shower was poor at best, but the room was small but clean with fresh linens. it was worth the cost, but if you are looking for something cheaper look to the hostels in the area, that is where i started, but they were full on the evening in question

I really enjoyed my stay, I met some lovely and interesting fellow guests. The staff were really helpful and the was lovely. The New Years dinner was nice as well. I enjoyed the facilities and there is a zoo and bus stop right near the resort.

The room was huge and we love it! The owner was very friendly. Good value for money and we feel very comfortable.

We stayed for one night after a late arrival flight. Unfortunatly the free hotel shuttle service was till 11pm, this was not reported on the website or booking site, so we had to take a taxi. The next day we used the free shuttle service to get to the busstation. Staff was nice and helpfull.

The staff here is exceptional. I needed a comfortable spot to rest when I arrived from the airport and this was exactly what I needed. Only minutes away from the airport and when I arrived it was a mini oasis. Very secure, clean and quiet. Breakfast is served until 10 am and was terrific.

We reserved a room and when we went to check in the manager said told us there was no way he could give us that room for the amount we reserved it for. The room was incredibly noisy and we were all awake by 5:45 am because of the street noise. This place is ghetto and not worth the money. Stay at the Holiday Inn or Sheraton.

We needed a few hours of sleep before a very early flight and this met our needs. Our room was at the front and close to the street so it was noisy and it was a difficult balance between closing the windows for quiet but hot or opening for a cool breeze with noise. Bathroom was a bit claustrophobic, but overall worked for our purposes. Hostesses was very nice and helpful to us.
