Amarillo (TX) hotels & places to stay

Slightly noisy with nearby trains and loud mini-fridge. Ice only on first floor, with only one of two units actually dispensing ice.

The facility was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was fine. The facility just needed to pay a little more attention to detail. There were little things that needed attention through out the hotel. Things like chipped paint and burned out lights that don't really impact your stay, but show that the place goes the extra mile. I will stay at Baymont in the future as it is a good hotel for the money.

I read the reviews prior to booking our stay. They appeared to be mostly decent reviews, however, we were very disappointed when we arrived. Our door was difficult to shut, nasty and damaged. The bathroom was dirty with stains on walls, shower curtain and tub. There was a bar of soap from the prior occupants and hair between the sheets. There was a sticky, dirty and dusty feel to the carpet. The chlorine in the pool was so strong it made the kids skin breakout in a rash. We were given the run around when we tried to get our money back to find a cleaner hotel. We will not stay at this location ever again!

My only problem with this hotel was the lack of luggage carts when we wanted to leave. According to the desk clerks, people stow the carts in THEIR ROOMS at night so that THEY will have use of them in the morning. We were an hour and 15 minutes late leaving because I had to schlep all or our stuff down 3 flights to the car piece by piece. Yes, they have an elevator, but it is busy in the mornings so I used the stairs. Who are these very rude people?? It isn't as though we were trying to get off at 5 am either. I started looking for a cart at 7 am. I checked every floor. None! My husband has just had surgery so he cannot lift anything. Is it Texans who are so selfish or people traveling through? Whichever it sure left a bad feeling with me re TX. The maintenance fellow ended up carrying a cooler down for me as I just couldn't lift it. We left at 8:30 - still no carts to be found!

This place was good for the price and location (right off the highway). It's super close to that awesome restaurant, The Big Texan. The young man that checked us in was super nice and helpful. The breakfast was also pretty good. The lady that checked us out was also very friendly. The bathroom was super small but I wasn't expecting much based on the price we got the room for one night since we were just passing through.

We were heading home to Dallas after visiting New Mexico and were very tired. This choice in this hotel was the best we have ever made, comfortable bed, great shower and fantastic breakfast.

The first room they gave was dirty. The second room was fine and the bed was comfortable. The issue I have with them concerns the incorrect and billing and poor customer service post check out. Because we were given a dirty room initially; the manager committed to giving us 15% discount off of our rate. When we went to check out; not only did they not give the discount, they overcharged us and we didn't see the charges until we checked our account, which did not concur with the bill we signed from the hotel. When we called to get answers, they were rude and kept passing us off to the next person. They did eventually reverse the extra charges, but we did not get a phone call nor did we get the 15% discount as promised.

I would not stay there again,could not get heat and air unit to work correctly and look like homeless people in and around hotel.I was scare to walk on carpet without shoes on the remote did not work.

The rooms were roomy and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom ceiling was pealing and it looked like they hadn't finished with the remodeling in the bathroom, but it didn't make us feel that it was dirty or anything, just needed to be finished.

I would definitely not recommend this hotel. Everything in the room was nice and the staff was nice. We booked online and they charged us and took the money out right away which is fine but then after we got home from our trip they charged us an additional $124 because the hotel was in high demand. That is absolute bullshit. They never said anything about charging us more or anything they just did it and that is not okay. I will never stay here or at another best western again. So unprofessional

When we checked into our room we realized the mini fridge was gone. Hotel staff had no idea why it was missing. We parked on the side of the hotel and used the side entrance and discovered that the side entrance was not secure. The key-card reader was not working and the side entry was accessible to anyone who opened the door. We reported it immediately - 2 hours later the door was still unsecured at 11:30 PM. The pullout couch was not suitable for anyone over 100 pounds, very thin and uncomfortable to sleep on.

Amarillo was a halfway point on our way back home. It was nice to have clean sheets and a comfy bed to sleep on after a day on the road.

Great hotel! We really enjoyed our stay! Great breakfast, clean beautiful rooms and friendly staff. Easy check-in and seamless check-out. Highly recommend!

Outside and lobby/hall areas were torn up and unfinished looking as they are doing remodeling however we loved our room. Very spacious and comfortable and looked nice

My wife and I had booked a room at the Red Roof Inn while on the road, passing through Amarillo. The room was perfect for our short stay, and I would definitely consider staying here again if I come through Amarillo in the future.

pros. cheap with free breakfast cons. breakfast includes cookies, yogurt, coffee and self served waffle (limited options); room smells, noise heard inside the room; feels like the linens are not changed and toilets looks filthy. sorry just being honest.

Never been treated as poorly. Was told as I booked through third party no perks would be available to me. As I tried to question counter person walked away.

The one elevator was a problem. Our main complaint though was doing breakfast at 7:30 on Saturday instead of 6:30. It caused a crowd and we and others were standing around waiting to eat. They had it all ready but it wasn't 7:30 yet. What a silly time to do breakfast.

If you are desperately needing a place to sleep, I would recommend this place as a last resort. The room smells like smoke, the sheets have cigarette burns, controlling the temperature of the room was difficult, and at night, the place looks a little dangerous.

This hotel is badly run down. It holds mostly long term residents. When we saw the condition of the room we told the staff that we didn't want to stay. They refused to refund our money. I don't understand how they keep the Travelodge brand name.

Shots out to the sista that helped me and my wife out everyday and kept us loaded with breakfast, unfortunately we never got her name but she was very nice to and helpful to us. The one housekeeper Yolanda was cool too. Only 2 of the people that worked behind the counter had positive attitudes and were nice to us. Sherri and the middle aged version of Peppermint Pattie had the worst attitudes and bad manners. Overall our stay was good and comfortable, the location was good too.

THE MANAGER HAD A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. WHEN HER COMPUTER WAS DOWN SHE GOT US INTO A ROOM FAST ANYWAY THEN WHEN WE WENT OUT TO DINNER SHE JOKED ABOUT WHERE WE SHOULD GO AND WHAT WE SHOULD BRING HER BACK. IT'S NOT OFTEN THAT THE MANAGERS AT MOTELS THIS DAY AND TIME DO MORE THAN GLANCE UP AND ASK FOR RESERVATION NUMBER AND ID. A PLEASANT STAY ALL AROUND!
