Nice clean city. Lots of Building that was built by the Russian in the early 1900s. It is beautiful place for sight seeing suitable for all ages.
The only negative point is the standard of living is high, things tend to be slightly expensive.
people are OK.. but don't speak English only Russian or Turkish food is not good.. hotels with low level service.
.. still far to go to reach a city for tourist people don't like to have many tourist
Baku is a modern city, in fact it is world class. It is beautiful at daytime but more beautiful at night time when the city is illuminated.
The Boulevard and the Fountain Square are teeming with life. The Flame Towers and the Flag Tower add beauty to Baku Skyline. Baku is a safe city for tourists and locals. You can walk around with confidence anytime of the day and night. The locals are one of the friendliest people I met during my travels around the world. Baku is also a shopper's haven so bring lots of cash if you really want to enjoy your shopping spree.
Very difficult with language unless you speak Russian. Despite the warning to the contrary it IS possible to drive safely in Azerbaijan, but in Baku Taxis are best.
The park promenade along the Caspian sea is superb. The modern city is "mega". Very clean with friendly inhabitants/
