The Brygge area is valuable territory for tourists but due to its location, history and offerings to visitors, the concentration of 'others' is justifiable.
Begen is just simply a beautiful old city. Lots to see like museums and parks areas. Nice walking trips.
Fun to go out on the town. Many pubs will have live music. This town is a must especially summertime if it's not raining. Definitely worth a visit. Also som guided tours that I've heard that one can arrange for. Hotel staff will always help you choose.
Bergen is a very beautiful city. Different from most other cities in the world. It is surrounded by 7 small mountains, and it is possible to go by the funicular railway to the top of Ulirken.
There are a few huge fish markers but the prizes are a bit too expensive. Bergen is worth seeing. That is way there are so many tourists from all corners of the world.
If you stayed at a good hotel, the impression of the city would be different. Because of the small size of the city, everything can be reached within walking distance, such as the main train/bus terminal, shopping mall.

The city is a connectiong point between ancient medieaval time and the modern innovational times of the famous oil-exploring western part of Norway. I will recommend you to to stay at lest some days and to go visting the mountain viewpoints as well as the fjords, the waterfalls and the coastal line by a day cruise.
Bergen is the old capitol of Norway. Still it is regarded as the cultural capitol of Norway. From ancient times Bergen communicated with the world abroad by the Nordic Sea and the Atlantic ocean as gateways.
The inhabitants of Bergen are most friendly, cheerful and urban. They welcome visitors as friends and members of their extende family. A funny thing among the inhabitants is that they usually do not count them selves as Norwegian citizens, the regard them selves as "citizens of Bergen", with a laugh they told us "We are not from Norway, we are from Bergen". If you go to Bergen you "have to" visit the coastel line, the mountains viewpoints and the old historical buldings way back to the mediaval period. Bergen is a "must" if you go to Norway. Have a nice trip!
