Pity there are no planning laws and the town is being continually ruined by millions of houses which take away from the original beauty of the town.
Pity, but that is modern Turkey. Find a nice place where tourists like to go, then ruin it for everyone.
Love Bodrum Castle, areas along Marina are great, gorgeous, fun to see different boats and gulets, traditional Turkish wooden boats.
We did a 7 night gulet cruise from Bodrum, LOVED IT, highly recommend doing this if you can. We enjoyed wandering and exploring various streets and local places. A fun city with a great vibe, local flavor, super nice people.
If you got to Bodrum cent, there is a restaurant called Doctor's place at the end of bar street. You must definitely try the fish and raki over there.
Cute tables on the beach with the castle view..
Bodrum is beautiful! Walk along the harbor and enjoy the sunshine! Spend 2 nights here and then book accommodation on one of the nearby Greek islands and hop on a ferry.
It's very easy to get back and forth, so don't be shy to do a day trip or an overnight trip. Although most of Bodrum happens along the harbor front, there are a few things to see around town. Bodrum is very tourist friendly, but there are a lot of touts and many opportunities to spend your money. Be sure to shop around for whatever it is you're looking for!
Bodrum is a lovely Mediteranian like Fishermas village. There are lots of boats in the the Harbour for boat trips.
Also there are plenty of Fish restuarants where you can eat the catch of the day.
We found Bodrum to be a little more expensive than other places we visited in Turkey. There is plenty of shopping and lots of places to dine.
The boat harbour has an exciting boardwalk with restaurants facing across it to the many boats docked. The beach area is just to the east on its own bay. Some restaurants are right beside the water. Again, finding a table free of smokers is a challenge.
