Chefchaouen hotels & places to stay

the location is good (be prepared to carry your luggage on your way up many steps) / the room is not spacious and a bit old (probably it is the same with every riad there) / generally it is fine for our 1-night stay in chefchaouen / the staff is helpful and friendly

The hostel was in the perfect location with excellent customer service and really good for stay. My room was clean, cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful. One of the best breakfast. Must try! :) The staff were very friendly and helpful. Recommend good palce to visit and eat. I really love the mint tea as welcome tea. Must go to the rooftop. The night view was amazing. Good memory in Chefchaouen, Morocco. Would definitely recommend this hostel.

Chefchaouen is an incredible village and Puerta Azul was a great place to stay! The rooms were spacious- living room, mini kitchen, and fridge and also very clean. My boyfriend loved the decor and ambiance. Most importantly was the awesome staff. They made sure we knew how to get around- explaining the taxis etc...We had awesome conversations and feel like we made friends. The breakfast was also great! So much food! I’m obsessed with the pancakes. We went to Akchour which is a must do! The hotel is very convenient to everything and has a great rooftop where you can look up into the Medina. Close to everything! Id stay here again!

Inside Chefchaouen's medina, but just 100 meters away from one of its entrance. Right on the commercial sé tienen n lf the medina. Very close to shops and restaurants. Nice building. All Was kept very clean at all times. We spent 3 nights there and had no complaints.

Staff is extremely pleasant, reliable and helpful. They've given genuine advice on touring around, food and scenic spots in Chefchaouen. Special acknowledgement goes to Said Raih, Omar and the overnight steward (a lovely guy) who made me feel welcoming at the lodge. Location is good which is close to Ras El-ma (a public carpark) and within 10-15 mins walk to Place outa el Hamman or te Spanish Mosque. I stayed on the ground floor just next to reception and pantry (i.e. the same level of the alley). The reception of wifi is relatively weak and the lighting of the room is dim. The pedestrians walked by early in the morning or late at night could be quite noisy or annoying especially if they were chatting. Apart from these nitty-gritty, Casa Sabila is a good option to stay at Chefchaouen.

The owner is possibly one of the nicest guys I've met, soft spoken and willing to help. It's always great when the host famly are nice people. The riad itself is a bit of a climb (but you'll get used to it, everywhere in Chefchaouen is a bit of a climb), but worth it when you get to the terrace, overlooking the entire town. Such a stunning view, and a great breakfast here to start the day. Highly recommend, but make sure to check your map where it's located. The map marker from Agoda is wrong, as Google Maps shows two locations for Dar Zimbra; the incorrect one is just a lane back from the plaza, where the real Dar Zimbra is a lot further back (used Maps.ME for an accurate location).

It is a rite-of-passage to get lost in the medinas of Morocco while looking for your hotel upon arrival. But once I found Dar Swiar, I really appreciated the location. It is not far from the plaza and a main road (convenient for taxis). Yet, it is located in a quiet alleyway, not in the middle of the most crowded areas where the tourists are passing by all the time. Best thing about Dar Swiar is the lovingly-decorated room and wonderful facilities of a simple kitchenette. The owner is extremely friendly, and so is the neighbour (hahaa) who manned the leather store opposite. Great value-for-money. Highly-recommended.

Our stay was wonderful. When I wrote, prior to arrival with questions, Nourrdine wrote back immediately with more information than I asked for. The staff was attentive and helpful during our stay, as well. The front rooms have a view of Chefchaouen - much better than being in the medina is to wake up to that view! However, the hotel is very close to the center, if you want to walk into town. Good wifi and a nice breakfast make this a hotel I would stay at again.

I loved staying here so much - I would love to return. Hicham (Antonio) takes great care of his guests, and his hostal. The location is great and for the first time in Morocco, I was truly able to relax.

Me and my wife visited Chefchaouen as a pit stop en route to Marrakech, and was nearly tricked by a dodgy resident trying to lead us away from the hotel. However, luckily another resident asked us where we were going and pointed us in the correct direction, and upon reaching the hotel, the staff was very friendly and made the check-in process smooth, and after sending us to our room, we could hear her scolding and the dodgy resident and we never saw him again ever since. Room's comfort level is average, with hot shower. However, what truly made it for us was the wholesome and delicious breakfast on the rooftop complete with scenic view of mountains. We really enjoyed ourselves while having breakfast and watching the sunrise. We had then checked out and asked the owner whether we could leave our luggage while we went around the city to shop and sightsee, and she not only gladly agreed, but when we returned around 5pm and tried to give her a token tip as thanks, she strongly refused until I told that I was not going to leave until she accepted! All in all we had a very pleasant experience at the hotel, and while the location and view are great points, we will never forget the warmth shown us by the owners:)

Great location for exploring Chefchaouen. Shops and restaurants are just meters away. Taxis are able to pull up right at the doorstep unlike most other accommodation only accessible by foot. Room is spacious and clean. However pool is too cold to be used in May. Overall, we are happy with it for the price we paid.

We were welcomed by Baligh into this amazing cozy riad, served us with hot tea, and made us feel at home and happy. We stayed in the second floor and had the terrace all to ourselves. The place is clean and well-maintained. It has a cool rooftop with a panoramic view... we witnessed sunrise on top of the Rif mountains—majestic sight. Our wonderful hosts were incredibly helpful with everything, and go out of their way to make our stay even more wonderful. Two weeks in Morocco and Chefchaouen was our favourite. We left pieces of our hearts in Riad Zaitouna. Thank you to the lovely people that made this happen.

Make sure you download Google maps offline before going there. It's hard to find once you get there but locals will lead you there for a tip. Our room was cute and quintessential to the location. Hard to warm up and there was no warm water so we had to skip shower (this may have been only a temporary problem) you'll have to eat elsewhere. Nice staff and excellent location, right in the blue part. Be ware of thug guys who hang out ouside the blue part. If you are driving they want money for "guarding your car" over night. I refused and almost got into a fight with one of them. The room is overall good and I would recommend it.

The Hotel is very well located, right in the Medina entrance . The staff is very friendly and helpful, in particular Omar, the reception man . The building is really very nice, like a small Riad .The price is very convenient . As a not so good aspects, the room is too cold during the night (there are any heating system in operation), and the amount of hot water available in the bath, is really too short .

The room we booked was really small, 2 little beds and no place to move around (and no attached bathroom) ... even if it was the most expensive room we paid in Morrocco (in 6 weeks). We were a bit desappointed, but we could understand... Chefchaouen is a really famous city and the hotel is well located. At night, we moved a little wood nightstand, and unfortunatly, we saw bed bugs. We went to the reception to show them. They offered us a new room (bigger, with bathroom, probably lot more expensive). They didnt ask us to pay more and we didnt see others bedbugs! So maybe it was only in the first room... There is a nice terrace up there; nice view but could be cleaner (dirty tables and chairs). Also, there is an other place to hang out downstairs, but it is also dirty, with a trash smell (the trash was full the 2 days we were there).

All ok, staff very friendly, place clean and cozy, near everything but away from the fuzz.

Everything about this place is great! It's located centrally, a 5 minute walk to the main square. Nice large apartment and great rooftop terrace with nice views. Saad, the manager, went above and beyond to help us, organising and even buying bus and train tickets for us when leaving town. Highly recommended!

Nice basic and cheap place in the Medina. the owner was nice. Steep and narrow stairs to rooms and roof.

Everything was okay except the cold. No heater and it was cold in mid- December. The lady was helpful and prepared us breakfast.

This hotel was the highlight of our recent travels, in which we stayed in about 10 different hotels. The hotel is beautifully designed in a traditional Moroccan style, and is a photo opportunity in itself. The pool area is also beautifully laid out and the restaurant food was excellent (and far better than the other restaurants we visited in the city). Overall it is extremely good value for the price and I would strongly recommend staying here if you visit Chefchaouen. My only complaint - water in the swimming pool was very cold!

Casa Hassan is my favourite place in Chaoun. The design is quintissential moroccan in style and the staff are so welcoming. I took my mum there for the first time and she loved it. I was disappointed that we had a tiny room as I had booked a double with decorative detail but this room did not have that. The plug socket in the bedroom did not work so phone charging had to happen in the bathroom. Not a good idea right next to the sink. The wifi was not available until you walked to the sister hotel but no great shakes there. the breakfast was amazing and they offered CRONUTS which were the bomb dot com.

This hostel is very ideal for teenies, backpakers. We were a couple with our own bathroom, was fine, but it is very small, my husband got hurt many times. But overall, it is very satisfying

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. The staff are an absolute credit to this hotel, extremely welcoming, helpful and accommodating (thank you :)). The room was comfortable with the bed being one of the best in our stay travelling morocco, the only thing I would say is that as there was no window in the room it would get stuffy but we just opened the doors during the day so it wasn't too much of a problem. The shower was very powerful and warm which was such a nice surprise. All in all I would recommend this place if you are heading to tangier.

Hotel is located in front of CTM bus station. Staffs at Casa Annasr has been the biggest help. They make a point all guests are comfortable. Rooms are Super clean and the rooftop terrace is beautiful. Not mentioning the constant offer of coffee for free. We hit a speed bump for one of the nights as we couldn't get a bus into Chefchaouen and we couldn't extend one more night at Casa Annasr but Mr Layachi manage to get us a small room as we told him we need to take the 7am bus to Rabat the next day.. our stay at Casa Annasr was awesome.. No complaints Thank you Casa Annasr

After visiting Marakech and Fez, certainly it was a pleasant stay at Dar Mounir, all staffs were very helpful and nice. Although there was a slight issue about room booking, we got smaller room at first day checked in where we initially booked a larger room, hence they changed the room on next day morning. All staffs was very helpful in giving informations and recommendation places to go, restaurants, transportation suggestion and activities, which all their recommendations was fit with what we want. We would certainly recommend Dar Mounir for stay at Chefchaouen and love to go back there someday.

Great luxury stay in Chefchaouen. Room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were really nice, especially the receptionist, who was really helpful and friendly and spoke perfect English and Spanish. Nice indoors pool, bigger than the usual ryad plunge-only pools, also had a hammam treatment. Breakfast was great and you can have it anywhere at the hotel, including at the terrace which has superb views of the city. Did not try other food. Free nespresso coffee is available for guests. As all hotels inside a medina it is a bit difficult to locate and the hotel does not have a sign, so you might have to resort to asking locals in exchange for a tip (they will try to offer you guiding services, they can be quite insisting, but if you are firm they won´t bother you anymore). It´s a 5 min walk uphill from the main car park outside the medina, next to the hotel Parador, where you can leave your car after negotiating the preice with the car park guard (about 20-40DH per day).

We just spend one night in this hotel. To be frank, first sight would not be good. because I took several time to find this high site, the close street is not too clean. But when I met the guy who kept the hotel, a young man staying neighbourhood, I changed my opinion. His hospitality and passion give me much pleasure. The inside of house is clean and nice to live. Good place!
