Cheltenham hotels & places to stay

It smelled terribly of cigarette smoke throughout the entire house. The room I was in the heat was not working and it was a cold day, there was also no hot water for me to take a shower in either of the upstairs bathrooms. Other than that, the staff was nice, it's location is nice and the garden is beautiful.

Very helpful staff, who accommodated a late check in, and sorted a parking permit. Nice quiet location, lovely breakfast, nice room (some of the pictures online don’t do it justice). Would recommend and use again when travelling to Cheltenham. Many thanks Sophie and Greg!

We spent a very enjoyable few days Christmas shopping and sight-seeing in and around Cheltenham. The hotel is very close to all the city's amenities, and provided a comfortable stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was extremely clean and welcoming. The only minor criticism would be that the breakfast, while adequate, had a very limited choice of hot food.

Room was comfy and spacious. Facility was better than expected, they even have the warm metal rack to hang the towels. Staffs were also nice and very friendly. Would recommend.

Lovely hotel in quiet area perfect for visiting Cheltenham. Very clean rooms and pleasant hosts. Very good breakfast.

All we had been seeking was an inexpensive hotel in Cheltenham where we could spend the night and drive back to Hampshire in daylight the following day. For this purpose Double Tree was absolutely admirable - and a special mention for the staff who were friendly and helpful

The Green Dragon id a hidden gem, when looking for a place to stay i was lead by the price and location as we had a business meeting near by in Birdlip. I was not disappointed. The rooms were clean and spacious, the pub was busy and inviting with real fires and great atmosphere. we did stay for dinner and the food was of an excellent standard. If you are looking for a reasonable price, but the feel of a lot more than you would be looking along time for better.

About 2 miless from Cheltenham Town center. Easy to find. Nice clean quiet room. Lovely huge towels We didn't use any facilities as it was simply an overnight stay.

We had a very lovely stay in your hotel (16-19 September). The service was friendly and that daily full English breakfast was just fabulous. You have a great team starting with Nathaniel, Ben, Angelica and the rest of the staff. And very special thanks to you, Jayne, personally for going to the bus station to return the cash to us after you discovered that payment had already been made online. It was because of you and your team that made our stay in Cheltenham so very memorable. If we come this way again, we will certainly look forward to staying in the Cheltenham Townhouse.

Lovely place. Great setting. Had some nice little touches. We only had a small cosy room but it was fine for us - I imagine that the bigger more expensive rooms would be superb! The staff were very friendly and the food great. Only downside. 10% was added to bill for tips without the option! - this made it a tad expensive- also WiFi kept dropping out every few mins which was annoying.

Having grown-up in Cheltenham, the Rising Sun is also one of those hotels where I promised myself I would stay if ever I returned to Cheltenham as a visitor. The Rising Sun is a popular 'summer evenings' pub for people from Cheltenham because of its location high up on Cleeve Hill with uninterrupted views across the Vale of Evesham to the Malvern Hills and South Wales in the very far distance. The hotel entrance is separate from the bar entrance and there is a private sitting area for hotel guests. Check-in was very quick and the staff very friendly. Guest rooms are on the second floor but as the hotel is set on a steep slope with the car park and hotel entrance at the rear of the building, the second floor is in fact 'street level' so suitcases are not a problem. The rooms are very simply furnished, not 5-star but very clean. What makes the rooms is the stunning view out across Cheltenham and the surrounding area; the view really is something special simply because there is no other high ground for a 20 - 30 mile straight line when looking from the hotel in a south-west direction. For years the Rising Sun has also been a very popular restaurant and has very good value meals all day. The breakfast was plentiful and well presented. The Rising sun is an excellent place to stay for exploring Cheltenham and the Cotswolds area, and also for hiking across Cleeve Hill (which is literally right out of the hotel's back door!). I will stay there again.

The Clarence Court is in a great location to walk to Cheltenham. Staff & management could not have been more helpful. We will definitely be staying there again.

Perfect location, shower amazing I wanted to bring it home! Room was comfy as was the bed, great breakfast. Fantastic hosts!

If you're looking for a clean, centrally located place to stay then this is a great choice if you're visiting Cheltenham. We were originally booked to stay somewhere else but the hotel let us down 48 hrs before and we managed to get the last 2 rooms here. I had booked for my friends birthday celebrations at Cheltenham races and it looked as though our plans were going to be badly disrupted but I spoke with Sian who is the lettings manager for the apartment and she couldn't of been more helpful in the fact that she managed to swap the rooms around so that ours could be next to each other, she sorted an early check-in for us too. It helped in making our whole stay a really enjoyable one. There is a privately owned pay and display car park just 50yds over the road which was £20 for 24hrs so that was convenient too. Can't thank her enough, we would 100% stop there again on our next visit. Ben, Birmingham.

Fabulous apartments. Better than our expectation and the perfect location for Cheltenham town centre.

Will book here again as this simple apartment is so near to my daughter's previous house and its very clean with good cooking facilities. Very happy stay indeed.

They stay was wonderful once again but the English Breakfast cost extra and was not plentiful despite the high cost. I expected to pay more (unfortunately and wrongly common in this day & age ) but it was not worth what you got. The ingredients and the cost of preparing & cooking them did not justify the price. The evening meal had to be taken early due to bookings by "outsiders". Contrary to the breakfast, the evening meal was first rate. Yes costly but worth it. The T Bone steak was one of the best I have ever had. However, the room's mini fridge seemed to be warmer inside than the room. Do not be tempted by the packets of snacks which are very expensive (as are the minibar drinks of course). I resented that they (the drinks) were also blood warm as mentioned above. However the stay was lovely but you pay hugely for it. I suspect it is relying on business people whose Account Managers are not too fussed about the price. I cannot say that it was value for money but that said it all was lovely. Now I have to try and pay for it! Oh sorry I should also say, the Staff were unfailingly excellent - attentive, courteous and friendly. The Hotel will be worried about Brexit as all staff seemed to be "foreign" guests but all were splendid and the Hotel should do their best to retain them.

I'm always made to feel like a king when I stay here. Pat is a perfect hostess and will go out of her way to assist you. I'll try to stay here whenever I'm in Cheltenham.

Elegant hotel in sublime Cheltenham location which manages to combine Victorian splendour with Regency style and excellent modern service. The only down side was the charge (£12) for overnight parking.

Great apartments, The hotel is situated in a great location, close to all the pubs and restaurants. I would highyl recomened staying here, would also be suitable for those with children, very clean and noise free. I would book again as great value for money. the decor and furntiure is also of a highh standard and bed is really comfortable

On arrival we easily gained access to our room despite the owners not being there. Our room was lovely, the biggest bed ever and a stunning bathroom. We were there for just one night as we were going to the races but would have happily stayed for a week. Location was perfect with 15 minutes walk the the races one way and 15 minutes to the centre of Cheltenham the other way. Andy & Alex were very welcoming. We will definitely be going again as just 40 minutes from home it still feels a million miles from the reality of normal life. Thanks for having us. J&K Wills-Mace

We stayed in a junior suite which we were warmly shown to and initially we were very impressed. On returning from our night out we found the bed was 2 singles pushed together which at that stage of the evening was too late to address with the hotel staff so to be fair to the hotel they did not get an opportunity to fix this however we did find this strange. The room itself was tastefully furnished but in need of decorating due to torn wallpaper and attention to detail was lacking water damaged furniture and a toilet seat that is fit for a skip. Spacious and well equipped bathroom with upmarket products. The main hotel has a luxurious feel and is very atmospheric but again let down by minor attention to detail for example worn out stair carpets. On balance a good hotel which should be great.

We had a most memorable and fabulous stay. Very dark on driveway walking back from bus stop at night. That's our only and small criticism. Not sure if the hotel was quiet because of work taking place . Fabulously easy to jump on the bus to town so no car parking worries or costs. Loved the spa and treatments. Delicious products. Have recommended to family and friends. Great for literary festival week end. The room was very warm and air conditioning would be great. However , the fan was helpful. ,

You want peace & tranquility , then this is the one. !! During my research got confused with many options on cheltenham and i am so glad that i chose Ellenbrough. Remember to ask for tower rooms(Classic double)for better views & space. Some staffs at the breakfast center needs refurbishment training since they forgotten long how to be professional.
