More about Coles Bay

Knuckles of granite mountains and azure bays are the flavor of the land in Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park. The recreation and leisure provided by the land here draws many a traveler. An approximate three-hour drive from Hobart or Launceston is all it takes to reach this destination.

Stunning scenery makes up the land of Freycinet National Park, within which can also be found the Coles Bay Conservation Area. Mountains of pink granite known as The Hazards create a welcoming sight upon entering the park and make a nice introduction for what is said to be one of the top 10 beaches in the world – Wineglass Bay. This gorgeous site can be enjoyed from up close or from afar at the Wineglass Bay Lookout. The trail to these sites are one of many that provides recreation and leisure for visitors. Walks range from 2 to 8 hours roundtrip and lead to places like Saltwater Lagoon, Mt. Amos, and Hazards Beach. Scenic drives are also an option and lead to Cape Tourville and The Friendly Beaches. The truly adventurous can take part in the Freycinet Experience Walk – a four-day journey that combines coastal and mountain walking.
