there are not many restaurant and shops. it is a small town between The Great Ocean Road and Melbourne, we chose it as a lay-over.
it is suitable for those who want to visit The Great Ocean Road.
love the go ahead mayor and his hotel geelong is a very clean the taxi drivers know their city and are very honest you can spend breakfast to dinner at the waterfront as it caters for all and lots of things to keep the family busy
Geelong is a small city which has a complete infrastructure. It has all the shops available in major cities and some elegant older buildings.
I like leaving the car at Geelong and going into Melbourne on the train (however the older station needs another revamping and the amenities are worn and grotty at the station. The trains are usually modern and clean, but not enough seeting which can rsult in sitting on the floor of the train (difficult for older people). Busses are connected at the rail station. All this is better than driving to (and in) Melbourne and finding expensive parking.
Its a small town, but the people is friendly. We just stay there for 3 days only, so we have no chance to explore much about the place, will visit there again if there any chance.
Esplanade is a good place to visit, but please make sure you bought the food before 5pm, or else you got nothing to eat
