Heidelberg hotels & places to stay

Stayed 1 night at NH Heidelberg. Hotel was about 10mins walk from Heidelberg hbf, 20mins to old town. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Too bad breakfast was not included or else it would have been great.

Hotel is not in the city center but since Heidelberg is so small, you can easily reach it via public transportation. The room resembles the typical Marriott style - cozy, classic but posh. Only thing we notices was a pungent stench coming from the bathroom which we assume comes from the sewage system. But all in all, worth the experience!

We found Hotel Leonardo on-line and selected it because of availability, affordability, and the location of the hotel. Leonardo was more expensive, but was totally worth it. The staff were incredibly friendly (they knew how to smile which was a big deal for us at that moment). The room was very clean, modern, had a refrigerator, free WiFi, and a nice bathroom. They did not offer free breakfast, however, there are plenty of eateries around Leonardo with varying price ranges. Someone with a tight budget could also buy some food from nearby grocery stores (take visa, mainly master cards) and use the refrigerator. We had to take a bus to attend a conference about 15 minutes away and the Leonardo happened to be one of the stops for the bus. Being right at the city center (~downtown), we often used public transportation. The main railway station is about 13 minutes’ walk from Leonardo and after checking out, we rolled our two suitcases all the way to the train station. [Side Note: traveling light with 4-wheeled sturdy luggage is highly recommended.] I had accidentally left our cell phone charger and the adapter in the previous hotel and the lady at the front desk lent me her charger without rushing me to return. We were able to purchase a cheap charger from a nearby store for 8 Euro. [Side Note #2: Use your US debit card in one of the international ATMs in the airport/train station.]. BTW, Leonardo does have a restaurant inside, but we didn't use it. Please note that there are 3 Hotel Leonardos in Heidelberg area, and ours was near the city center. I almost forgot to mention that the front desk provides with printing service if needed. We very strongly recommend this hotel. It may cost 30-50 Euros extra per night, but we truly appreciated their better service, location, quality of the room, and friendliness especially after having a rough time in the previous hotel.

If you don't like walking too much then this hotel is perfect for you since it is situated just beside Heidelberg Hbf where you can get connections to all trams, buses and sbahn. There is also McDonald's beside the hotel whenever you feel hungry late at night. Excellent location, value for money, clean hotel, comfortable bed.

1. The hostel was awarded the best hostel in Germany (not only Heidelberg) for three times!! Amazing, right?! 2. Though no breakfast was provided, there were good grinned coffee, milk and cereals for guests to enjoy all day long. 3. 50% of the guests were said to come from Korea. Though nothing to do with the Lotte Group, the quality of the hostel was up to Lotte standard! 4. With a lap top computer at the living room for guests' use. 5. Very clean. 6. Free chips and food were available on 1 Jan to celebrate the New Year, which showed the generousity of the boss! 7. Strongly recommended for those who plan to stay at Heidelberg. 8. No sign-board of the hostel was found, just a small hostel name notice on the door. Located exactly beside the castle tram station. Don't go far away to look for it.

I don't mind paying 160 euros a night and the room was fine, but the staff never cleaned it. I spoke with Sebastian in the admin office specifically asking to have my room cleaned, which he assured me it would be. I returned to my room at midnight after being outside for meetings all day, and the room hadn't been entered or cleaned at all. Awful to use dirty towels and clean up myself at midnight, when this simple request had been clarified before my departure at noon that day. I emailed the staff to ask what happened, and I didn't hear anything helpful back. I would have felt better if they had admitted they forgot, but I didn't even get that.

My wife and I wanted to discover Heidelberg and for this the Hackteufel Hotel was just perfect - situated at the heart of the town it was ideal to get a feel for Heidelberg. We loved as well the food, both for dinner and breakfast recommended!

This was a pleasant stay in a well-located hotel. I took it mainly because it has fast access to the railway station (only few minutes of walk) and there is also a tram to the university parts in the Neuenheimer Feld (the distance can also be walked though it might take 20 to 30 minutes). The breakfast was good and the staff friendly. The airport in Frankfurt can be reach by train from the railway station, it has only one change (in Mannheim) which is very regularly connected to Heidelberg and to the airport once an hour.

suitable for tourist with car. the town is so small thus any hotel is not far from tourist attraction. if you have no car, better choose hotel near the river but you have to pay more money. the hotel is not far from parking with eu5 a day. the room is large and comfort. the bathroom is large as well. the restaurant is very good with delicious foods. one thing to concern is parking. if you park more than 24 hrs., it will be counts for 2 days. as i parked for 25 hrs., i had to pay eu10.

This was the second night in Germany and we were really happy about the stay. What bad was we were not arranged in a bigger room but it's still very good. The decoration of whole hotel was so nice, very clean and tidy. Our room (Room 30 at 3rd floor) had 1 window but it's facing the river. It's very romantic. The heater was so warm and everything was just good. Like the breakfast, it was cooked by the receptionist but nice and fresh. The location was good, besides the river and you can walk anywhere on foot. By introducing by the receptionist, we parked our car at the car park with much lower price. Anyway, we love the stay.

The hotel is very closer to the city center, so it made our stay very convenient. It doesn't have a 24 hour reception service, but everything was arranged well ahead (access code to enter building etc) so that we didn't feel the difference.

Construction work made me difficult yo access the hotel by driving. The reception was inside the hotel restaurant. Staff was nice but he was quite engaged in the restaurant. Room was the big, with a proper dinning table. Overall comfort to stay, except the construction work started in the early morning. The location was perfect, a few minutes walk to cable car station and city centre.

Almost the Best staff I had ever experienced, only surpassed by Conrad Tokyo. The location is excellent to the old town square and all the restaurants and shops, and the cable car to the castle. The breakfast was excellent and very friendly staff. I rented two rooms, one for my sister & husband, our room is at front but quiet, I am a light sleeper, woke up around 7 by a Diesel engine bus. The bathroom floor is a 2.5" higher, it is something need to be aware for possible tripping. Other than that, all good.

I have spent 6 days in Germany and visited other hotels. This is the best hotel that I visited in Germany. It has nice price and space even there is a microwave, micro-oven and dishes. You can cook something in the room. Also The hotel's staff was so kind. He asked me first time visiting to Heidelberg and he told me a lot of useful information of touring on Heidelberg. If I have plan to visit to Heidelberg again, I hope to stay this hotel again.

The apartment has everything we need, cooking equipment, sofa, tv, wifi, strategic location, and Mrs. Petra is super helpful and very friendly. The apartment is very clean, the bathroom is thumb up. Although our room in ground floor faced the parking lot, it is not noisy. Our room also faced east, so if you're a late starter, bring your blackout sleep mask. Or ask for another apartment if available. But if you a sun-lover like us, then it's no problem at all. The room also has enough curtain already. The location is 10 min walking distance to central station, and only 3-4 min away from the nearest tram, the tram goes direct to center. Near the tram, there is also a diner (more than 1 kind) and the asian diner provide good food for good value of money with very friendly service. We stayed for 2 nights in triple room ( marakesch room ) everything was nice, well designed room, but only no refrigerator in our room.

I liked the room - wooden floors with area carpets, comfortable bed and furniture/couch. Very near many good places to eat, shop, old town and sites, transportation hub. No elevator, and no refrigerator in room. Check-in is across the street in main hotel, staff only there part time (though call number is provided).

It was a pleasent stay with friendly staff and good breakfast. The hotel is situated near the Bismarckplatz and one can easily reach the pedestrian area which spans through the whole old town of Heidelberg. There are frequent trams and buses to the Heidelberg Main Station (tram line 5 and, on weekdays, also tram line 21). The only minor set-back is that in the hotel room the area to place the luggage was a bit too short to fit mine. The hotel has good internet and also a telephone in each room which can be reached from outside by a direct-dial number.

NO WIFI in the rooms. Kind, helpful lady at the reception. The room has tea/coffee facilities and a minibar filled with sparkling water/beer.This service is much appreciated !! Hotel is 5 steps away from big shopping centre and just 2 min. walk to tramstation leading to the Old Heidelberg centre. You can leave your car safely in front of your room at the hotel parking. Old Heidelberg is a charming city where you find several bookshops filled with used and rare high level books.

We always stay at Berghiem 41 when in Heidelberg. It's a great small hotel. Very clean, nice staff and convenient. The rooms are modern and the showers are great.

Stayed one night at this hotel. Overall was pleased with the hotel itself, and our accommodations. One issue we had was with the location. It was quite a distance from the altstadt. The person who checked us in at the hotel assured us we shouldn't worry and that rather than driving downtown and having to find parking, the best option was the tram station just outside the hotel. (they sell tram tickets at the hotel, which made using the tram easy.) To get to the altstadt, he said "this is the first stop, you take it to the last stop. It's easy, all trams start here and stop there." That was not entirely true. First, there are many different tram lines - he was only referring to the #26 tram. Second, the #26 tram apparently has a couple of additional routes that do not exist on the city map. So at the end of our night downtown, we set to return to the hotel at about 8pm. We ultimately got back to the hotel at nearly 10pm after dealing with a variety of public transportation issues. On the plus side, we were able to order dinner at the hotel before the kitchen closed and had a great meal. Hotel was the least recently renovated of all hotels we stayed in while in Germany (ie, a bit dated) but completely adequate for our needs.

When u first arrived the city, it's hard to get to the hotel by yourself and u need to call for taxi because the hotel is situated on the top of the mountain. However, the hotel is easily accessible to the city centre and other sightseeing (the castle). Ask the reception about the "bergbahn". One more disadvantage of the hotel is that the hotel does not have air-conditioner, but they provide u a fan.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Heidelberg. Right on "Hauptstrasse" or "Main Street", a beautiful cobblestone street with numerous shops, restaurants and bars. Close to the castle by hiking up the steep hill or taking the funicular train, which is only a block from the hotel.

First, so thx for all staff in this extremely awesome boutique hotel, the note you written for us will always be treasured up. My comment of this hotel is: location is the best, not 'one of the best', in heidelberg; breakfast is far more than awesome; decoration is the best for guests; staffs are world-class top! Especially, the penthouse suite is really really amazing, love the view, love the kitchen, love the jacuzzi, love everything! Wish to stay again in the future!
