Kaohsiung hotels & places to stay

The place was a bit old but it was really clean!! The bed was so comfy and the air-conditioner works perfectly fine (cool and nice in the room) The staffs were so friendly and let me to stored my luggage before the check-in time :) And the location was so closed to Kaohsiung train station which gives this good place another extra points :) 7-11 is located beside the hostel. Everything is perfect so don’t hesitate to make the booking!

I booked here because it was the cheapest hotel in Kaohsiung with a double bed and en-suite bathroom. For the money, I would say it was very good value. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but the rooms are the decent size, clean and the bed is comfy. I had a flat screen TV with cable TV and the Wi-Fi worked just fine. Bathroom shower was fine. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the nearest MRT station, which then only takes you a matter of minutes to zip around the city to get to the action. The area the hotel is located is a little bland, despite being only 10 minutes walk from the Kaohsiung main train station. Good choice I think for non fussy single travellers who want a bit of personal space that a hotel offers but at hostel prices.

I was travelling with my friend and stayed in twin room. Good location,the staff were kind and very helpful. Will definitely come back to this place next time I'm in Kaohsiung!

Abby and I planned a trip to Taiwan but we both agreed to visit Kaohsiung first. Yes, we're both new to see Taiwan. At first, we expected that Kaohsiung is big and difficult to travel around. However, we made a mistake. Kaohsiung is not so big and it was very easy to travel around. Moreover, we stayed in this place called Backpackers Inn. I booked it because I saw that it is famous in Agoda and I read some comments about this accommodation. I saw that they have many positive responses from their customer. When we arrived they were very accommodating and entertained us in English. The staff speaks English fluently, they cater to our needs. Yes, they have free breakfast. The room is fine because we booked a room in a female dormitory. They Kitchen with free bananas, I enjoyed it. Also, They have a nice lobby with comfortable sofa and chairs. Wifi is excellent. The location of this Inn is 5 mins away from the MRT station and shopping mall. Thank you so much Backpackers Inn <3

It was a really great stay. All the facilities are superb! The peoples are wonderful, the boss are passionate and they are at a best location. Although there wasnt special breakfast and the staffs are not that enthusiastic but we really had a great time with the boss. She is an amazing woman. She was enthusiastic and introduced us excellent trip and services which we really needed them. If i will go to taiwan again, for SURE i will stay at DWELL again. (The name of hostel is meaningful and it shows the boss and his wife's courage, they are awesome, ask them if u want to know more)

I stayed there with 2 of my friends. The place is very clean and large. Shower room and toilet is very clean. No complain. The adapter plug at your bed is universal, so don't worry about the adapter type. There is a living room for you to hang around if you aren't heading to bed early. And a computer with quick internet access for you to use. Fridge is full of drinks and kitchen is full of food in case you are lazy to walk out. The location is very good, once you take the lift down, you will face the train station entrance Exit 1 (Formosa Boulevard). Then you can get to anywhere you want. Anyway if you are looking the way to this hostel, take the train to Formosa Boulevard station, then head to Exit 1, turn left, look up, it's on the 6th floor of the building in front of the station. There is a noodle store in walking distance, it's very nice. At night time, you can walk to the nearest Night Market over there call Liuhe Night Market. Staffs are very friendly over there, they are helpful too. Thanks Tina & Angela for everything during our stay there. Definitely will recommend this to anyone that would like to travel to Kaohsiung. The Taichung one operates better than Kaohsiung since they have elevator. Their Taichung is the best one i stayed bfor for Backpacker 41. Oh ya, its cheaper to book through their own website and pay upon arrival yea~ +good location (near no MRT and shopping mall) -no elevator and room is located at 4th floor (luggage was disaster)

This hostel was tied for the cheapest hostel in Kaohsiung, 11USD per night! However, it did not have one single review. I said "I'm going to stay there so I can review it for the next backpacker looking for cheap accommodation!" It is conveniently located at the Formosa Boulevard stop on the MRT. Take Exit 2 and you'll find yourself on the correct side of the road to get to the hostel. There is no outdoor signage for the hostel. Follow these detailed directions. Once you crest the top of the MRT escalator, bear right and follow the sidewalk running parallel to Zhongzheng 4th Rd. Walk less than 200M and the hostel will be on your left. Find Chef's Restaurant and the corridor to the hostel is directly beside. If you are standing in front and looking at Chef's Restaurant, the corridor is to the right. There are 4 steps and a ramp leading to a door and elevators. Liouhe Night Market is just a street over. The mattresses were thin mats. Very few people in hostel. Bring long charging cord.

Booked a 3 night stay and had a very pleasant experience there. Everything from the room, (bedsheets and bathroom is clean and maintained) to the location (barely a minute walk from the nearest exit) and price is very good. It also provides several amenities (soap, shampoo and hairdryer). Other thing is it provides a pleasant breakfast and night snacks while the other rarely gives any breakfast! The staff keeps refilling the foods so no need to worry for having a late breakfast. Moreover, the 4-story high building also provided with elevator so bringing a lugage won't be a nuisance as there's also a storage room inside the shared bedroom. Will definitely recommend this hostel to my friends who'll go to Kaohsiung!

We received free room upgrades from owner and our new 4-bed private room is lovely! Location is 2 minute walk away from kaohsiung station. Although the hostel is full during our visit due to Mayday's concert, the cleanliness was maintained well by owner. Indeed value for money.

Certainly the cleanest and most well hostel I've stayed in Taiwan. Business run by Japanese; the facilities, living room, kitchen and bathroom was so spacious in Japanese-style with well & nice maintained. Cozy environment, clean and neat with many Japanese guests, and able to get to know new friends from other countries. This location is convenient with major subway (Formosa Boulevard MRT Station) and Liuhe Night Market within walking distance of each other. Everything is good but suggest to change coin-operated cloth dryer machine as it was not working / heating properly, and the staff should update to the guest before get paid coin-operated laundry (it took about an hour there just to dry my clothes) 私は今回このホテルに泊まる機会があったことを大変嬉しく思いますし、皆さんにもぜひここに滞在されることをおすすめします。 It's an excellent hostel for staying in Kaohsiung, I would definitely stay here again when in town next.

Location of hotel was conveniently located near Yanchengpu MRT. Hotel does provide clear pictorial guide to get to hotel. We were really impressed with the artistic designs of the hotel, especially the corridor and the interior design of the room. They are unique and creative due to being near Pier 2 Art Center. Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of food with a great view of Yanchengpu at Level 8. Hotel staffs were helpful in advising directions and also coming up with suggestions of what to do at Kaohsiung (including romantic and scenic places). Overall, a good hotel to book to explore Sizihwan, Yanchengpu, Pier 2 Art Centre, Love River, Takao Railway Centre.

All of the Staff are so hospitable ,most especially the hotel receptionists. The room is nice and clean .There is free sauna room, hot bath area , very nice dining and lounge area.Definitely , I'll stay here again when I'll travel in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in the near future. It's worth the pay and I could not ask for more.I highly recommend it for solo travelers like me.Thank you! P.S... I love the people in Kaohsiung , Taiwan...

A very good place to stay due to it have a very good location which the MRT Just infront of the hostel . Those come from high speed train remember stop at station of R10 and exit the 9exit way as this will be in front of the hostel.. very convenience ... the cleanliness for this hostel is good as myself also a cleanliness person so it’s pass for my expectations. Just 1min away that’s a night market and during night beside the hostel also do have a shop sell supper and it’s very nice food to try... just a small problem is the staff only work until 10pm and after 10pm will be no any staff can be attend on your requirement and the breakfast absolutely is very light just serve bread and coffee.... for me is nothing because am more love to try the local breakfast in Taiwan... am sure will be back for my next visit in Kaohsiung

Basically is a new Hostel locate in the best area in the City near to the Biggest Shopping area, Park and 2 night markets. The Hostel is absolutly Lovely,full equiped,a huge Lobby,Hall and Kitchen,thick mattres,and the best there is the Staff.I spent 3 nights there in the dormitary room and i really enjoyed my stay there.Free food(noodels,coffe,tea and bred with peanuts butter),fast wifi and showers with shampoo and gel. Honestly,one of the best hostel i've been in Taiwan. Guys,don't think too much about it, you must to come here!!!!

There are four hotels in Taiwan I had lived. And that's one of the ones I like so much. Close to the station and main road. And the lobby is just like a home hall what made me feel good and relax. In addition, the local cleanliness great and facilities are fairly new. Next time to Kaohsiung should choose this again for me. ha

Jerry the hose is super friendly . The house is a bit far away from city center but very peaceful for relaxing. The house is clean and feel like a real home . Perfect !

Knock knock hostel is well located 1 minute from the rapid transit station, and also about 10 minutes walk from Kaohsiung main station. Shoes are left in the cupboard by the door so the place is kept very clean. I was staying in a 6-bed dorm and each bed had privacy curtains, light, plug adaptor and individual lockers. The communal shower/toilets were just outside the room and in good working order. The free breakfast just consisted of bread/toast with a variety of spreads and coffee/tea so it was basic but sufficient. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Overall this was an excellent hostel with no complaints, so I would stay here again.

I stayed overnight at Long Siang Hotel. I booked my stay here because of the excellent reviews from Agoda. I agree with the past reviews. First of all, it is value for money considering the room size and location. The room was quite big for one person and it was walking distance from Kaohsiung Arena. There were also a couple of 7-11 stores and restaurants nearby. The service was also excellent. The standard check-in time is 15:00, but I arrived there at 09:30 and they allowed me to check-in early without any charge since there was already a room available. In general, hotels will not allow early check-in unless the guest has paid a fee or they will still let you wait until 15:00 to check-in. All rooms also had complimentary 2 bottled water. Before I checked in, I was given 2 cans of soda water. Then when I checked out, I left my bag with them since I will still be touring the city then come back to the hotel for my bag later that day, they gave me a bottled water since they knew I would be walking the whole day. Customer service was excellent! I gave 4 stars for the cleanliness because when I entered my room there were many strands of hair most likely from the previous guest. It was not cleaned properly. When I notified concierge about this, they asked housekeeping to sweep the room. They also changed one of the bulbs once they noticed it was not working. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its value for money, friendly staff and location.

M Hotel is very near the KMRT City Council (市議會) and the Formosa Boulevard (美麗島) stations. If you arrive at Formosa Boulevard or Kaohsiung Main Station, the hotel would be pleased to pick you up to the hotel for free. Let the hotel know at least 3 hours before your arrival. For us, the CHAIRMAN of the hotel came to pick us!!! It made our day especially the weather was hot (39 deg) and we were immediately treated with limitless ice-cream and popcorns and jelly and...our kids were just overjoyed with the cute monkeys at the lobby. It made us felt so at home. Our room was comfortable, house-keeping was super generous. We had an issue with ants on one of our beds, but it was taken care immediately. The Concierge is very helpful with suggesting good and affordable places to visit. Breakfast was awesome and very authentic local flavour. Eatery outlets are so conveniently near. We enjoyed every moment with the hotel, we will definitely come back whenever we come to Kaohsiung. 謝謝董事長親自來捷運站接我們！

Very nice and comfy hostel. It is renovated from an old 3-floor house. The decoration is stylish and every thing clean. The hostel has a super convenient location, is just 3 minutes walk from the Central Park MRT station and bus top. It is next to the famous shopping area and you can also walk to the Liuohe Tourist Night Market in 15 minutes. The staff of the hostel is very friendly and helpful. Public transportation card is available here and it can be used to take buses for FREE and discount for the MRT. Highly recommended and will definitely stay here again when I visit Kaohsiung.

we stayed 3 days in this hotel. the price was the cheapest one in this district and only a bed to sleep was what we need. we was super happy with it! clean rooms, super friendly staff and super super cheap! we come back if we are in the near :)

I only have good things to say about this property. Nice comfortable room, friendly professional staff, good breakfast, nice rate & around the corner from the Kaohsiung Station. Closer than other, more well known properties from the station.

We book a double room on the 5th floor (topmost floor) for a night. The room is big and cozy, nice bed to sleep with private bathroom. Our room located next to public living room and public balcony where you can wash your clothes without any charge. From guesthouse, you can walk around and it's not far from station. Even you walk back on the night it's ok because you'll have some university students on the street. Remark • On the basement they sell fried chicken, it's smelly all inside the building. You might have problem if you stay on the 2nd-3rd floor. But on the 5th floor there is no problem. • We're lucky enough that on the day we stay, there is no people partying or talking loudly on the living room (which just next to our door). If we have bad luck, things must be different. • The staff is very nice. • You shall try Xiaolongbao restuarant on the way to MRT. It's good and cheap. Maybe our favorite Xiaolongbao in Taiwan :)

This hotel is underrated. It doesn't have as many amenities as some others such as the Ambassador, but the room is perfect and the staff is great...VERY clean and VERY comfortable. They don't speak much English, but enough. If you don't care about having a river/harbor view, La Ping will beat any other more highly starred hotel in Kaohsiung. We will be staying at this hotel again on return trips.

Definitely staying here again next time I visit Kaohsiung. Location is excellent, very nearby to the MRT station, close to bus stations with easy access to one of the biggest shopping complexes in Kaohsiung. Few stops away from the main train station so can easily take day trips outside of Kaohsiung. Staff was very nice and helpfull. The "room" was quite cozy and surprisingly large sized. Easily will fit in two, and even more easier for one. All required facilities like washing machine and drier available. Lounge area where to relax and eat or play games. Very quite and cozy feeling. Showers had a decent amount of pressure and plenty of hot water. :)

It was the first time for me to make a visit to Kaohsiung and I was little nervous by reading some reviews about this hotel beforehand as it said staff members wouldn't speak English and I couldn't speak Chinese at all. However, they were friendly and tried helping me whenever I asked them questions in English, although their English was not perfect but we could communicate. They also gave me some tips about places that would be worth a visit. Just a suggestion to users in terms of communication, you should also try understanding messages which staff members try conducting, not just expecting them to speak perfect English. They are nice if you are nice. As for the location, it is super convenient as located right in front of the Formosa Boulevard station (just one minute!?) and close to a long, busy night market which is totally nice. You can enjoy good street food in the market just 3 minutes away from the hotel on foot. Just the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities in a room could be better but I have no complaint about it according to the amount of money I paid. That was far better than I thought. If you are generally fine to stay at a hostel level, this hotel should satisfy your needs. Overall, I will book and use the hotel again if I have a chance to visit Kaohsiung again.

The hotel is one of the best I've been to! Worth the money and the staff is very friendly and nice. Too nice they let me stay at the common area. My apologies for overstaying! 😭 Thank you very much again and more power to Start Hotel! Truly recommended!

The hotel is new and clean, with bath tub, separate shower, sofa in the quad room with nice deco. It is very close to night market and few breakfast eateries. We can access washing machines and dryers at 11th floor (free of charge). Very good price for Quad room, and definitely one of our best day in our 12-day Taiwan trip. I highly recommend this hotel.

Liuhe Su Hotel is a value-for-money hotel and is conveniently located to a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system - Formosa Boulevard - in Kaohsiung. It is just 5-min walking distance to the MRT system. Liuhe Night Market is just downstairs of the building. We had a room with two Queen sized beds to accommodate 2 adults and a 9-year-old child. The room was very clean and non-smoking. The room had bath and face towels, disposable toiletries - shavers, toothbrushes and toothpastes, hand soaps and combs - as well as bottled drinking waters. The bathroom had built-in dispensers - shower gel and shampoo - for guest's use. The only thing was the toilet papers were too soft and flimsy for 'business' use. There were beverage (coffee & tea) sachets and drinking water dispenser with hot, room-temperature and iced water available outside the common corridor opposite the lobby area. One thing to take note is, the hotel is conducting renovation works on certain levels, from 8 am to 5 pm daily.
