Apart from a slight hiccup regarding the booking , we had a short but good stay here . For some reason our booking was reflecting on their system ,so when I called they were not able to confirm the booking at first . And please update your correct numbers in websites like Agoda . For some reason our booking was reflecting on their system ,so when I called they were not able to confirm the booking at first . And please update your correct numbers in websites like Agoda . I had to call their Cochin office to get an answer (tried 5 numbers from the confirmation sheet + google) . After sometime I got a call back from one of their managers who reached out to the hotel and called me back to confirm the booking. Thanks to him, the team was ready to welcome us as we reached . From there it was a great experience. The food was not spectacular but good. Its a huge property which you can explore in a couple of days and it overlooks a river. Very courteous staff.
While we were in Kozhikode, we spent the first day away from the city. On the second day, we checked in to this hotel. The Hotel is located on the Mavoor Road, pretty close to the KSRTC bus stand. There are some nice places to eat nearby. Even the most famous ones are 30-40 bucks away. The breakfast spread was nice.
The rooms were pretty good. Check in went through quick and fine. Told front desk at 4 pm to book a taxi for next day morning 6. They had not done it when I checked at 9 pm. Went to restuarant and asked for suggestion at 4. First we asked about French fries and ordered. Then he suggested sandwich and we ordered but he did not mention that it also comes with French frie...

We ended up leaving calicut with a kid who could not have proper breakfast in the early morning train.
It never seemed to me like a business hotel. The rooms were very old fashioned and reminded me of the 80s. The furnishing is pretty ugly and the per night charges are way too much for this 3 star hotel. The best part about the hotel is the location. Otherwise, breakfast and pretty much everything else is okay okay. The rooms are too tiny and congested.

Malabar Gate, a very clean hotel with charming staff is well situated in Calicut, not far from the station. A rickshaw ride to the beach, centre of town and markets is only 20 rupees, all rickshaw drivers are happy to use their meter. Calicut must be the cleanest town in India, people are very honest and you never come across anyone trying to take advantage of a tourist. In fact there were no other European tourists there. I would certainly stay in this hotel again, most pleasant few nights, good food, amazing breakfast and the staff are just delightful, Highly recommended Mireille Glossop

They have given me an early check in free of cost. Excellent support from the staff. Lunch/Dinner and breakfast very good. Good internet connection. Rooms were clean and neat. Hotel is very near to the city. Anyone who loves food, should visit calicut which is very good in having very nice eating experience.
Some feedback was needed to keep he high standard. An example is the delivery of laudry, which would otherwise have been late. The TV-set was somewhat difficult to use, although instruction was given. No overview over channels (supposedly must needed for foreign visitors). The staff vas very helpful and polite.

A really friendly manager who is keen to provide a nice stay. A little bit far from the city centre but TukTuks are available and inexpensive.

Value for money as I got it very cheap compared from other sites. Room service and house keeping not that good. It was a handicapped cot in the room :D
Our stay at the Grand Plaza Suites was very comfy and the service staff in particular was excellent. they catered to our every need promptly. The food options were also excellent. The place is merely a 5min walk from the beach.
