It was supposed to be just a quick stop over, but we had car trouble. After we checked out we were still waiting around in the lobby for the car to be done. Not only did the staff not mind, once they began talking to us about our situation they offered us a free buffet lunch. Although the hotel is older and looks a bit "past it's prime," I think it is great for the price and also very clean. The pool size was great and our kids loved it. The workout room seemed really nice. The breakfast buffet had lots of options, western and Thai. The lunch buffet was huge and very good, but was basically all Thai food.

This hotel is so well run with amazing staff and an excellent manageress. Everything was perfect. The breakfasts were lovely as well with a great selection and delicious coffee. However, I really love the great service of bellboy who drove me and my girlfriend to the temple and waiting us without any complaint. Overall for this hotel is ok and if I have chance I would stay here for next time and will try the night bar facing to the river for sure!

Wonderful that I now have this choice when I make this regular trip. On the banks of the river Nan, close to Wat Pra Si Rattana Mahathat (aka. Wat Yai), it has just 21 rooms, 2 suites and 2 connecting rooms. Modern and stylish yet retaining a Thai feel. It has all the conveniences of a five star hotel but with an air of intimacy and privacy. The Amore restaurant, where I had breakfast on both occasions and dinner on one, was faultless. An excellent choice of authentic Italian and Thai food; presentation, taste and service were impeccable. My only wish is that there were more hotels of this type and standard for road trips as they provide such a welcome rest during long journeys.

the ayara grand palace hotel is a breath of fresh air compared to most of the dingy old hotels in phitsanulok. from the moment we arrived and were greeted with a cold drink we knew that this hotel was going to be good. the attentive staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. the rooms were bright, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed, including...

the resort has a jurasic park feel about it.r room is a cute cabin that has 1950's style to it.you are about 50km from phitsanulok city in the countryside by a small river.no smoking or drinking at the swimming pool.the pool is small, but well maintained.the restaruant is closed by 8pm.

Great staff - > Chamchuree - the front of desk woman, was extremely friendly and spoke great English. Phitsanulok doesn’t offer much but there is no need to leave the hotel. A secret retreat which will hopefully stay unknown to tourists :)

I've stayed at many of the Hop Inns all over Thailand, and they are all basically the same. They have all been clean with good WiFi, and very new and stylish. This is first time to try this hotel and it is good for sleeping to take rest if you were traveling around Thailand or just quick visit for this area. The bed is stiff but not too much comfy. Restroom is good but the shower not covered with curtains or a glass to keep water away from wetting the floor. However, breakfast is very simple eggs, sausage with toasts...

We stayed at the hotel during our visit to the Chinarat Buddha at Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, which is only 5 minutes down the street and easily accessible from the hotel. I was not expecting much from a small town hotel, but it was surprisingly nice. The lobby and dining room are older but very well appointed, and the rooms are comfortable and nicely maintained. We don't normally eat dinner at hotels, but there is nothing in Phitsanulok beside the standard Thai street meals so we gave it a try. We were very impressed. The menu is extensive, the dining room is quite fancy with a live singer, and the staff were very good with our little girl. We were able to order a full fish, three sides and drinks for around 20 USD. The breakfast the next morning was as good as any we have had in Thailand also. Overall, I would definitely suggest this for a stop in Phitsanulok.

Perfect for nature lovers and anybody who wants to stay off the beaten track. It's about a 45 minute bus ride out of town, but there didn't seem to be much to do in actual Phitsanulok anyway. The location is central and not far from the railway station. In the neighbour hood are some bars (frequented by locals in summer), but also (as in many places in Thailand) a lot of street dogs on the way to the hotel, which could be a problem after sunset. The receptionists are very friendly, but only speak a few words in English, GoogleTranslate helps. The night market is on the other side of the river and in walking distance. We recommend this place for people, who are searching for a very clean hotel and a vehicle at night.

The hotel was a real bargain given the price included breakfast, which you might be glad of as there are precious few restuarants in Phitsanulok. The manager speaks perfect English. It was a treat to see the elephants that come right to the front of the hotel with their caretakers. You can also visit the elephants where they live. The hotel is large but had very low occupancy. There was also some renovation going on but this did not interfer withour enjoyment or our ability to relax by the pool. The breakfast could have used some fresh fruit and the bread was just standard white bread. I would go back. It is excellent value, very pretty surroundings and seeing the elephants up close is impressive.

Super impressed! The place is very cool-decorated. All staff are friendly (especially the old lady who owns the place.) A must-visit hostel when you come to Phitsanulok!

The hotel is treated in a professional European way. We stayed 2 nights on the 5th floor and it was 100% clean room spacy enough, white spotless towels/bed lining with a nice scent, bottles of water prepared in a fridge, small bottle of shampoo and shower gel prepared in a clean bathroom, shower with hot water separated from WC and sink, comfort spacy bed, modern eleva...

The only disadvantage might be a longer distance from Bus Terminal 1 and city center, but sorng-tâa-ou waiting/transition place is near a night market (500 m), sorng-tâa-ou's station even closer (150 m). and a ride to bus terminal is for 15 THB per person (sorng-tâa-ou drivers played fair in our opinion, one gave us a short ride for fee to show us their waiting place). I wish more hotels in this price category was in Thailand. Thanks for a nice experience, The Bed Hotel :)

Reasonably central location. Rooms fine but tight when you have an extra bed as we did. Staff friendly. Breakfasts a little limited but not a disaster. Phitsanulok was found to have very limited tourist attractions. Pretty well all are Thai temples (Wats). Good restaurants but not easy to find. I would recommend the hotel but not the town.

The hotel is on the western outskirts of Phitsanulok - so it is convenient if travelling NS or East. Mr room (2501, I think) was not on the 2nd floor but the 5th, and faced the busy main highway. Closed windows and drapes blocked out most of the noise but if you are a light sleeper request a room in the adjacent building or on the non-road side of the first building. The room was clean and comfortable enough and the breakfast (free) was excellent. There is a small swimming pool but I did not try it. On my return visit I stayed in the older building which offered slightly larger rooms.

It is very handy for those going to Naresuan University, but that makes it quite far from the city center. The ground floor rooms are best avoided as they are not suitable as hotel rooms (former shop floors), whereas the WiFi leaves a lot to be desired if you are on a lower floor. 1.30pm. After a short and easy walk from the train station we arrived to the hotel placed in what it looked to be the Chinatown area of Phitsanulok. Check in went smoothly and the nice receptionist accompanied us to the room. This is when everything started going down hill... On first looks the room looked shabby, but we paid a small price so it seemed ok. On a closer inspection, we went to use the bathroom and the light didn't work. We used a torch to look in the bathroom and found age old cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and across the shower, the place can't have been cleaned for at least a few years. Next we opened the curtains and found an unidentifiable substance on the inside of the meshing. Trying to process all this, we decided to get into bed, but on pulling back the covers we found multitudes of human hair. We looked at the pillows and found inside an eight legged bunk mate. Just sitting inside this room made us feel itchy and by 2pm we checked out (2 days early).

Convenient as it is located near the railway station. Good breakfast. Staff is friendly. The room (I had a single room) is spacious, clean, the bed is large. Felt a little bit creepy as I didn't see any other guest and the hotel is just a big building with no special decoration. But that's ok.

ok so 350 baht will get you a double room on the top (4th) floor. But I've skipped ahead. check in was quick and efficient but without any warmth. Probably a language barrier thing. The rooms are a good size. The bed is a queen size I think and firm but not overly so. The air-con is cold and there's a good sized fridge along with everything you'd need by way of furniture. The floor and all the bathroom is polished concrete with clear gloss finish which really just looks grotty more than anything else but the room itself was clean. Location wise it's close to many Things, there's a 7/11 less than 200 m down the road. The included breakfast is toast and coffee only, which is actually available all day, not only during the advertised hours. The eating area adjoins the reception area. I think it may be some time since anyone swept or cleaned the area and many of the chairs were broken so consider somewhere else for your morning repast. in summary.... pros. it's cheap cons. it's cheap. the big test is, would I stay here again? Yes I would. 350 baht near the centre of a big town is pretty good value and the shortcomings here are outweighed by the value and location. There's off street parking, too.

Our double room was huge, super clean and with a private bathroom, exactly what we were searching for. It was quite central but it was just nearby a very busy highway so it was super noisy. Personally I have a deep sleep but for other can become a huge problem.

Cheerful check in although limited English..... we managed fine. Clean room. Comfy bed. Walk to a number of restaurants and 7/11 across the busy main road. Undercover parking space for each room great for bikers. Free coffee outside the office. Good for the money but no breakfast. Deposit for key which seems to be standard practice these days.

The hotel was not far from the train station, like 10 minutes walk. However, the problem was they do not speak a word of English. It took us like half an hour to make the receptionist understand that we booked through Agoda and we had already paid. She sent us to another hotel and they sent us back to this one, and finally we used google translator to h

I chose this hotel because of its location, that I wanted to stay near Phitsanulok Airport and also have easy access on the road to Phijit province. It met my both criteria on location. I stayed here for 1 night. The owner who is very friendly and service-minded also works at the reception. My room was comfortable and clean, with all basic amenities. The hair-dryer was not in the room, though, but available for free borrowing at the reception. I didn't have breakfast, as I needed to check-out before serving time (7-10am), so I just can't comment on that. The room price is very reasonable, good value to money. Overall, it was a comforable stay.

Felt like the only people staying - extremely quiet and peaceful - we really enjoyed the swimming pool area. Ideal for a weekend break when you want peace and quiet. Great staff - > Chamchuree - the front of desk woman, was extremely friendly and spoke great English. Phitsanulok doesn’t offer much but there is no need to leave the hotel. A secret retreat which will hopefully stay unknown to tourists :)

Traveler impressions of Phitsanulok
this is histrorical and natural city. they have story about the king who fight to get our country back from Myanmar.
this city have the most beautiful Bhudha image of Thailand.if you like outdoor adventure.out of city they have big natural park and you can do rafting in river.
As I mentioned before, Phitsanulok was a rest location on a long drive - and it was ideal for this. I cannot comment on the finer details of the city as I did not explore enough to be any sort of authority.
One drive into the centre of town proved to be a bad move because of very heavy traffic and jams. I do not know what the cause of this traffic was.
Its a typical Thai small town - don't expect too much tourist business - ask locals for the good restaurants -
I only stayed one night, and one more night would not have been enough, so i guess about 3 days should do it, though you use this as a base to visit nearby provinces.
Very pleasant town. I'd like to visit again.
Good location in the middle of Thailand. Easy to drive from Bangkok or Chiangmai only 4 hr. There are many natural places which are good for eco tourism, biking or brown water rafting.
We also can drive from Phitsanulok to Lao or Vietnam or Myanmar or China from Indochina intersection in Phitsanulok.
Not far from Bangkok, easy to get there by plane, train or bus. It will take about 4-5 hours drive. Very attractive city with culture and history.
Variety with historical museum, rafting, big Bhudda in the old Thai temple which is the most beautiful of Bhudda in Thailand
the small province but fillfull by culture, history, and nice local people. if you are interesting with religion and history, please try to here.
Many people seem to use Phitsanulok as a stepping stone to Sukhothai, and I think it deserves more time for exploration.
The temples in the area are quite a sight to see, with some from the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya period. Besides that, there's some lovely national parks with gorgeous flora and fauna aplenty. Nice to trek around, with lovely waterfalls at the end. Apparently there are areas where you can actually stay the night, and I'll be trying that the next time I'm there!
NICE people and Good and centre city to the north and and BKK and northernEast , historical Place NIce to stay and relax
The city was nice and easy going , The food was great and delicious .The big temple was very beautyful.
Phitsanulok is a large bustling city of almost 1 million people and should be visited at Water Festival time in April.
There are many beautiful Temples in the city and 5 large shopping malls and city markets with fine foods which are frequented by the locals. The Chinese Temple on the mountain is a good attraction as is the waterfalls about 30 km from the city.
Good stop over point after the train from chaing mai, finish journey by plane to Bangkok , night bizarre on the river was disappointing but it was raining There is an acute lack of tuk tuk's the only ones we could get we're around the rail station
good province , nice place about old city and have nice place for shopping mall , transportation very good have airport , local bus , tuk tuk , and have beautiful moutain , waterfall and natural place for relax
Decent city ! Culture rich with some beautiful site. Near historic town of Sukhothai. No very much rushing life.
People are very friendly.
I don't know if there is anything to do there. But it's a great place to stop if driving from one part of Thailand to the other.
Phitsanulok is a friendly city. It has a good night life as well it has good markets. The river runs through the middle of the city and is fun to explore the riverside.
I look forward to returning to this city.
Fly from Bangkok and start a tour of Northern Thailand from this point. You may wish to hire transport from here.
While here visit the old capitol of SUKHOTHAI, with its monuments and parks.
Phitsanulok is a typical Thai country town where people are going about their daily business and making the most of what they have.
There are many small shops that can provide all of your needs and two medium sized shopping malls that have heaps of variety shops plus movie theatres and a small bowling alley. Phitsanulok is not a place you would visit for shoppping alone, it is after all a country town, if it is shopping you are after then Bangkok can not be beaten!
People are nice !!! I think this is enough for the review cause with great people you'll have great journey
good place. But the Hotel is not inside the main city, but better to stop over fro those traveler with vehicle or motorbike.
I found a very good Big Bike Repair Shop, which could help me with my bike problems to my very full satisfaction
Phitsanulok is a big city on the North of Thailand. The attractive thing for tourists is the very very beautiful and famous Budha image called Chinnaraj.
Nice city and close to sukothai. The problem is you have to see a few taxi . You have to call taxi by calling call centre .
But taxi are much cheaper than bangkok. The taxi driver are honest.
College town with alot of younbg thai people. Check out the nightbazaar. Go dining and order the local speciality of pak boong fai daeng.

More about Phitsanulok
Phitsanulok has played an important role in the history of Thailand. During the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya eras, Phitsanulok was a powerful and prosperous city. Today, this sleepy city is mainly a base for the Royal Thai Army. Although Phitsanulok isn’t as popular as Thailand’s other tourist favorites, hotels in the city include luxury resorts and spas as well as contemporary business class hotels.
Phitsanulok's most famous temple is Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat, an intricately decorated temple housing a 700-year-old gold sculpture of Buddha.
Life in Phitsanulok is very much centered around the river Nan, and one of the biggest annual events is a dragon boat race which takes place in October. Houseboats are a unique and interesting feature of life in Phitsanulok, and the Houseboat Museum at Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat is a must-see for visitors.
Phitsanulok is accessible via rail, road or air. Flights from Bangkok take less than an hour and arrive at Phitsanulok Airport.
