Pilanesburg is a pictureque city but the roads definately needs to be upgraded due to the high volume of traffic.
I would definitely take your own food. There are many picnic spots in the park which are nice to picnic at and be closer to nature.
Pilanesburg NP is a nice little Park compared to Kruger NP and very reasonable in price for admission.
One can view a lot of game depending on luck, the weather and other factors. We like it and will probably be back.
Pilanesberg National Park is a great wild animal reserve as there is greater chances of seeing the big 5 compared to larger parks like Kruger.
Best times are early in the morning or late evenings.
The reserve is 55000 times of a cricket stadium.. you got friendly guides who take you to inside the forest for sightseeing.
If you are the first timers, it is really advised to go on game drives either in the morning or in the after noon.. night drives and self drives not recommended. The amazing part here is you have hot air balloon, but i was not lucky as the day i went they didn't have enough people for the event. In the reserve, I saw, couple of Lions, many deers, giraffe, zeebra... fox... there are much more you can see if you are lucky. You can bargain for the crafts which are sold outside the reserve. You can get them cheaper than the fixed price shops in Johannesburg. The safest place to stay in Pilanesberg is inside Sun city. Highly recommended to visit, considering the proximity to Joburg...
Very impressive. Big 5 freely roaming. The first time in my life to see Lions at the romantic moment of Love.
A truly beautiful place. Stunning African landscapes with everything you expect! I loved it so much. I travel here everytime I go to South Africa.
Value for money and perfect fror getting your safari fix. I have seen the big 5 here. This visit I saw a leopard chasing a gazelle mid hunt! Could you ask for more!
