Port Douglas hotels & places to stay

Third time in Port Douglas and would return to this accommodation rather then more expensive properties. Great facilities and very helpful staff. Twenty min stroll to the centre and no negatives.

The getaway holiday in the Pullman Port Douglas was great ! the room and the facilities at the hotel were excellent. The staff were friendly and accommodating without being obtrusive. The atmosphere was relaxing and just what was required to take that well earned break from the hectic work and normal life schedule. The Port Douglas are is beautiful and the barrier reef was fantastic. Loved the place and rates up there with a few others as one of the best places to have a holiday.

We were in Port Douglas for 5 nights. It was one of the best relaxing tropical holidays we've experienced. The staff on arrival were fantasti. The room was ready well before expected so our early arrival was no pproblem. The room we small but more than adequate with a big bathroom and a brilliant spa balcony with views of the pool area. There was never any noise, the pool was warm and clean. There were constantly staff in the gardens tidying up and keeping everything beautiful. The buffet breakfast was mainly continental so if you pay for full breakfasts be aware you will have to select from a menu for eggs and other extras. This was how things were during our experience anyway. The staff the restaurant were friendly and talkative, very attentive and not once seem bothered by bringing food and cocktails to us by the pool when it started to rain. The hotel is so easily within walking distance to 4mile beach and Macrossan street. I really can't fault the place and would most definitely return.

This is a very good refurbished property in the best location in Port Douglas. Close enough to the little town of Port Douglas. It is on the 4 mile beach which is great to walk up and down, particularly at sunset. The rooms are excellent. They are very modern and have been upgraded on all levels. Lightening, TVs, appliances and the rest. We had a lagoon view room on the 2nd floor which I would recommend. The toilette was modern, and it had everything required. It was also quite big. Room service was attended to very promptly every day. Wifi was complimentary (not standard in Australian hotels). Great place to stay.

Great spacious ground floor 2 bedroom apartment which overlooked the pool. The Bathrooms looked run down but were ok. Just a 5 minute walk into Port Douglas town.

Exceeded our expectations. Place was modern and clean. Had everything guests would need. Had a good location if one needs a quiet place. Just 5 minutes from the city centre. We booked a one bedroom unit but were given a two bedroom unit, so we had lots of space. Would definitely stay here again when in Port Douglas.

We went on our first trip with our 5 month old baby and loved our stay at the Mantra Portsea. We had the studio apartment, which was perfect for us. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The bed was super comfy, the bathroom had a big hot tub style bath tub and we had a big balcony overlooking the pool. We had everything at our finger tips: The beach is 7 min walk away and Surfy's was one of our favourite, laid back, kids friendly restaurants (we went twice to have the salmon and wagyu again). A short 10 min stroll takes you to Port Douglas town and 15 min to the marina. Breakfast was great with something delicious for everyone and just enough variety for a week's stay: toasted ham & cheese croissants, granola, yogurt, lattes, cereal, toast, pancakes, juice, etc. We took advantage of all facilities: the laguna pool (ideal for kids), the lap pool (ideal for couples and singles, who want a bit of quiet), we played tennis and had crocodile (!) spring rolls at the pool bar.

I live locally and travel to Port Douglas a lot. I have stayed at many place in Port from very expensive 5 star to Airbnb home stays. By The Sea is by far the best value for money. A great deal of thought has gone into the design of the rooms and facilities. But what gives this place the edge over all others is the staff. Typically Cairns and Port Douglas have embarrassingly bad customer service (god knows what foreigners think of us!). Not here. The customer service at By The Sea is impeccable. Every other place in Port should send their staff here to learn what is meant by "Hospitality".

I stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment with a group of girls for a long weekend. Coconut Grove is located on the main street in Port Douglas making it easy to walk to any of the restaurants and marina. I would definitely stay there again.

we really enjoyed our stay here. the apartment was clean and spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. it was a short walk to anywhere you want to go in port douglas, and the beach is gorgeous. the only drawback to the apartment was the internet was not reliable. the woman at the desk was very kind and kept trying to fix it, but it kept going on and off for our entire stay. we really like to have reliable internet when we are far from home. maybe this was an unusual problem for verandah's.

Stayed at the reef resort in port Douglas we felt it was home from home. Lovely place, friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend. Loved the area also 3 nights just wasnt long enough. Was a fantastic last place to stay before our long journey back home to scotland.

We stayed here for a week and absolutely loved the lcation. Have been to Port many times, stayed at different accoms but this is our favourite, we want somewhere close to the cafes, shops, the beach. We also wanna stay at a place has 20m swimming pool, its so hard to find a non lagoon pool resort in port douglas so guess we will be going back to Mantra. It has an amazing spa out on the balcony, sadly we didnt use it as it was 37c most days. Lol. Theres no room service so you just need to ask one of the lovely staff at the front desk. Its pretty clean in the apartment with cooking facility but we bbq downstaird most of nights. Perhaps a few more bowls and cultery would be handy otherwise you need to dishwashing every meal. They have amazing fox tv, so great for movie nights. The sofas were actaully the most uncomfortable we ever sat on, as if you sittin on the spring and your back hurts when you getup. Would be nice if they can be updated soon? Very accommodating staff!

I absolutely loved staying here. Gorgeous apartment styled accommodation set within the residential area of Port Douglas. The kitchenette had all the necessary appliances and even a coffee machine plus dishes and glasses. Large bathroom with a spacious shower that had a good flow shower rose. Lots of windows that open out to stunning views of lush trees, comfy bed and a balcony (where I sat out and ate my breakfast in the morning and relaxed with a cool glass of water at night) Maddie the cleaner made sure my room was cleaned to perfection and John the manager was very helpful and even carried my bag up the stairs for me. Would definitely stay her again and highly recommend.

Apartments are perfect for us, kids like the pools and the proximity to Macrossan street and the beach is excellent. If ever in Port Douglas we will always choose to stay here as it meets our needs!

A lovely peaceful place to enjoy the beautiful Port Douglas beach. The owners were really lovely and welcoming. The apartment was bright and airy.

THE LOCATION IS EXCELLENT, JUST ONE STREET BEHIND MACROSSAN STREET (THE MAIN STREET IN PORT DOUGLAS), SO CLOSE TO RESTURANTS, MAIN ATTRACTIONS, AND SHOPPING. THE STAFF AT THE MANTRA HERITAGE WERE EXCELLENT, ALL VERY PROFESSIONAL, HELPFUL, AND WILLING TO ASSIST. PARTICULAR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO ALEX, WHO WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO MAKE OUR STAY ENJOYABLE. WE HAD A SWIM OUT ROOM, WHICH WAS FANTASTIC. THE ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT IS ROOMY ENOUGH FOR 2 PEOPLE. MY ONLY SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT IS ON THE CLEANINESS IN THE BATHROOM AND KITCHEN. I FOUND BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF PROPER VENTILATION IN THE BATHROOM, THERE WAS A BUILD UP OF MOULD IN THE SHOWER, AND THE BATHROOM DOOR DIDN'T APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN CLEANED FOR SOME TIME. THE EXHAUST FAN IN THE KITCHEN ALSO HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED FOR A LONG TIME, SO THERE WAS A BUILD UP OF GREASE AND GRIME. OVERALL WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME AND I WOULDN'T HESITATE IN RETURNING AS THE POSITIVES FAR OUTWAYED THE NEGATIVES. PLEASE NOTE I HAVE RATED FOOD/DINING AS 3, BUT NO FOOD OR DINING AVAILABLE AT THE MANTRA (NO OPTION FOR NOT APPLICABLE)

Perfect position in Port Douglas. Had the weather been better, our room would also have been perfect. Sadly, without the sun, we couldn’t make use of the patio, with exclusive access to the pool; & the room was a bit lacking in light. Fabulous Mexican restaurant just up the road, & great breakfast spot along the end of the seafront.

We spent 5 days at Coral Sea Villas. The service was first class. The location is ideal and just a short stroll from the beach, shops and restaurants. Despite being in such a central location it was quiet and very relaxing.

This is a very clean and comfortable unit that is an easy walk to main street in Port Douglas. There is limited free parking on site. So if you have to park on the street which is free be aware of the tropical downpours that can occur and make sure you park on the high side of the street and not directly infront. Flooding can and does occur.

If you want a relaxing holiday then stay the Meridian. It's close to the main street of Port Douglas (5min walk) with the wide variety of restaurants and services all within walking distance. Supermarkets, banks, shops etc are all there, while there is a wide range of eating options catering to all tastes and budgets. My girlfriend and I ate at a different place each night. The hotel is set in a garden setting, and even though you're on the main road into Port Douglas, you never notice the traffic noise or other noise. It's so quiet and peaceful. The beach is only a few hundred metres from the hotel too. The room was not huge, but catered for everything. A large comfy bed, TV and DVD player, Mini fridge, toaster, iron, all the usual things. A 4-piece dining setting is very handy also. The bathroom had a shower/bath/spa all in one, while all items like soap, towels, toilet paper were well stocked. The room wasn't serviced daily, but can be at an extra cost. This was not a problem for us, as we reused towels, emptied our own bins etc, but may be something to consider. For those with a car, secure, underground parking is provided, but you'll find that you won't need it all the time to get around town as everything is so close by. I wouldn't think twice about staying at the Meridian again. It's a quality hotel at a very affordable price.

Tony was so hospitable, went out of his way to make us feel welcome, even providing towels for the pool and beach. Also providing alot of information on best things to do in Port Douglas. Will definately return to the Whitehouse again, and recommend to all my friends 😊

We have stayed at Mantra on inlet 6 times in various apartments because we love where it is situated in Port Douglas. the apartment we had this time does need some attention. the louvre doors to bedroom were broken, the surround of the microwave fell off and the guttering over our balcony was leaking like a tea strainer. WE still love the hotel/apartment. Wish there was a lift

We were very happy with our stay at Port Douglas Retreat. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a nice porch seating area. We were on the ground floor which made accessing the room with a pram very easy. We were able to rent a cot during our stay. The bathroom was roomy with a big shower area, no bath but our baby prefers showers anyway. Excellent location, close to the beach, main town and river. Staff were helpful and friendly. The pool and BBQ area were great and provided an opportunity to socialise with other guests and cook and eat cheaply. I would definitely return to Port Douglas Retreat when in Port Douglas next.

We are Sydney based couple arrived for chill out long w/e and not disappointed. We stayed here a few years ago and the place was getting tired however the new owners have spent some money and all rooms and general areas have had a well needed "facelift" - so ambience is private, relaxing and fun - rooms are very clean and good size and to a "standard" - its not Grand Hyatt/Sheraton and doesn't try to be - but fun resort, very comfortable beds and great location with its own very private beach and pool/spa. Dining was tasty and good size and chef has some interesting dishes on menu - and if you do need fine dining you can always venture up to Port Douglas or down to Palm Cove. Staff are excellent under the "command" of Bert and always attentive and making sure everyone feels included - so everyone can mingle - or not if they just want to have some quiet romantic me time with their partner/lover...:) Bert was also always making sure transport was sorted out even offering to drive us up to Port Douglas one evening so we could have a drink and enjoy a b/day celebration. All in all a very enjoyable break and recharge from the bustle of Sydney.

We loved everything about the Sands Resort. Every encounter with the staff was positive; they were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The included breakfast, which was quick, easy and convenient was great especially when getting out and about with younger kids. The accommodation itself was great, had everything we needed and the pool was fantastic and catered for kids really well. There was a family friendly atmosphere and we plan to come back next year and bring the older children with us as well.

This property is run by 2 lovely guys who looked after and entertained us so well. Very attentive to all our needs, informative and respectful. They have 2 gorgeous Bernese Mountain dogs and 3 cats. They obviously love animals. Gorgeous views from the breakfast area. Great place to travel North or through the Atherton Table area. 15 min by car to get to Port Douglas. Thanks Andre’ and Anthony.

all went fine, place is not too far from the beach, worked out just fine, for a good basic stay at Port Douglas this place is hard to beat, the guy knocked on our door at 12:05 on the last day which was a bit off putting but otherwise all fine

Very roomy apartment which welcomed us with a starter kit (towels, soaps, dishwasher kit, laundry kit, etc.) but then we were on our own. There is a small heated-up swimming pool which was where we met other fellow chatty travelers (mostly families with kids; we got a surprise baby-sitting opportunity from one of the families we met there and also learned later that the place's kippers - a super nice couple - will sometime baby-sit if the kids are nice enough :D). Location is a 5min walking distance from Port Douglas's 4 mile beach which is super cool (and also walking distance from the main business street). Staff is great; they provided us with many activity tips and aided with booking few of the available attractions near-by (day trip to the great barrier reef; drive to the Daintree rainforest; trip up the Skyrail; etc.) Overall we highly recommend the place and will certainly go back there if we happen to get back to Port Dougles.

I thought my room with kitchenette and first floor balcony was great. My only niggle was the sliding door to the bathroom next to the bed - not very private noise-wise if I'd been staying with my husband, but minor issue. Glad I only had to lug my suitcase up one flight of stairs and not two, but stairs seem to be a fairly common feature of properties I've stayed at in Cairns and Port Douglas in the past. My balcony looked out over Davidson Street in front, and not over the pool area, but I think I preferred that - seemed a little more private. Undercover en-site parking could be tight with a large vehicle. I would definitely stay at Bay Villas Resort again. Proximity to shops, restaurants and beach a nice ten minute walk away.

We stayed 3 nights at the Outrigger, the owners are absolutely lovely and very helpful, bless them ! Great location, appartment very clean, air con works good, no insects, nice balcony. If I had something « negative » to say that would probably be the lack of a few things in the kitchen, like paper towel and a sponge. And maybe the beds that weren’t the most comfortable I’ve slept in. Apart from this, my parents and I would def recommend it and choose it again if we come back to Port Douglas :)
