This is a place which I visit quite regularly as it is the focal point to many other Tamil states such as Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Madurai etc.
I especially love the Utchi pilliyar temple, from where you have a great view of the city. Shopping for sarees and modern kurtis are also plentiful in this city especially around the temple complex. Food, as in all Tamil Nadu states is excellent.
Trichy is well organized city . Excellent for shopping especially saree and awesome local south Indian cuisine .
Nice city with friendly people. Less hectic compared to Chennai and has a calm spiritual appeal to it.
Trichy is a good gateway from which to visit the state of Tamil Nadu. Compared to flying in to Chennai which is a little further off from the heartland of the state, Trichy is well-poised to become the base from which to travel to cities like Madurai, Thanjavur other nearby towns.
Many religious sites are just 1-2 hours away by car and one can come back everyday to stay in Trichy which is a larger city with much better hotels. Shopping is wonderful with variety and much cheaper than Chennai
Busy place and traffic is hectic during peak. Good location of entry to all religious locations and has fantastic temples in Trichy
Filthy, the streets are very polluted. Rubbish everywhere, nobody is concern about cleanliness. Nobody follows rules in this city.
