River Place was our second choice. Based on our experience, it's now our first choice for when we come back. The only negative was the amount of noise the occupants of the room above generated, when all we wanted to do was sleep. Next time we will request a different room. I will definitely come back and spend more time next time. Upington surprised me as a town - beautifully green, clean, prosperous looking and safe. I would like to explore the area over a week or so.

Staff was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Especially when a tour operator dropped me at the last moment, they made alternative arrangements and saved my trip. Rooms have espresso machines ... Will certainly come again!

The room was very nice. Being so close to the river a bonus BUT the food we got for dinner was so expensive, you won't pay that in a four star hotel. Fillet and a small salad R190. They broke into our car and the manager and owner did not assist us in any way to have our car window just covered for our trip to Cape Town, to help us clean the car with all the glass of the window on the back seat. We asked one of the cleaning ladies, the just brought a black refuse bag. That would not last a kilometre. We had to wait for the police for more than an hour to do the fingerprints. At the end we had to go to police station. The owner was just worried about the alarm. The did not assist us in any other way. We left so late and got to our next destination very late but there we got wonderful service. The Rendezvous in Springbok. I can really recommend it. The lady just lost her husband the night before but treated us in such a wonderful way. Ritha is a wonderful lady.

After a somewhat exhausting Journey, Brown's Manor felt like an oasis where you could replenish your energy. It was an all-round good experience and we are sure to return in future!

The location is perfect and the staff are very friendly. We enjoyed every second of our stay.

We were under the impression by the way it was advertised, that this was a Protea hotel, but it is not a Protea any longer. The Protea is across the street and fortunately, we could use the fitness room and pool for no cost, both of which were very nice. Our room was as expected and clean, but clearly hadn’t been used in a while as it smelled musty. Staff was friendly and helpful. For the one night we stayed the hotel was fine, but had we stayed longer we would have preferred to be across the street at the more modern Protea.

Staff was kind, and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. Very good value for money!

I stayed in room 410 which was very spacious and clean, however, a function was being held on the deck outstide the passage of all the family rooms, and it was extremely noisy. One can hear the function and the people speaking and then the staff clearing up afterwards were so loud I had to ask them to be quiet so that I could sleep and that was after 10pm ! The one waiter had no idea about food and asked if I wanted my beef carpaccio cooked ? The overall experience however was good with an excellent breakfast ! I would stay here again, but would definitely speak to the managment about the noise and ask for another room !
