seek the elephants and leopards in a long chain of 4x4 jeeps. Is this normal? Sorry Not ECO friendly
First of all, Yala is not a city, but a national park! The city's name is Tissamaharama! Tissamaharama is a very old historical town with many ruins and temples dating far back in time.
Yala National Park is probably the most famous wildlife park in Sri Lanka. It also borders several bird sanctuaries like Kumana and Bundala.
The park was closed and we could not visit. If you are booking a hotel, just enquire about the availability of access to this national park.
Yala is famous for nature lovers. Wildlife, Bird Park, Beaches, Ancient Religious places most the things nature lovers looking for are around.
Lots of ticket touts ,safari and entrance for two around 10,000 rupees As it's a 6,000 entrance fee and 4,000 rupees for jeep that half a day 0530 to 1030 am .
I think a full day safari is enough, some people stay up to 3-5 days, it's just too much. We saw everything in one day.
Yala is the name of a closeby national park and not a city. the closest city is Tissamahahahahararararararama or something like it short Tissa.
For a good lunch go to the Royal Restaurant in Main Street and you may not miss a diner in the famous Refresh restaurant at the edge of town.
Tissamahamara, the town closest to Yala, has some of our favorite people in all of Sri Lanka. A strong Buddhist community, they are very welcoming and open to have a chat and a beer *_*
Katharagama: Very small city with almost nothing to offer except for its festival and closeness to Yala National Park.
Expect very few restaurants and almost no shopping (except again for festival time).
Yala is a relaxing area and a great city to stop in for a few days on your trip to sri lanka. The safari is great and it is a good place for families.
The downside is that the summer months get quite hot.
Yalla is a quiet city. The main attraction is the yala national park wild safari. We were quiet lucky that we saw almost all animals in the park.
the safari was a great experience for me. Do carry something to crunch and wear light clothes on your trip to Yala safari
Too many jeeps in the park at one time..however we still got to see some pretty cool animals. Not many animals were around after 9 am
