Better than Guilin to see the Karst Landscape. the city is smaller and very close to the mountains and the rivers.
plenty of activities like rafting, cycling, river tours, hiking and even rock climbing in close proximity to the city.
It is one of the most beautiful cities in China. Highly recommend to take bamboo boat trip in Yulong River.
Yangshuo is a quaint and beautiful city that really immerses modernity with traditional culture. The first thing I recommend would be to check the weather before you travel here as bad weather can hamper things like not being able to watch the Impression Show as the river was too high due to lots of rain.
Also make sure to catch a bus into Yangshuo from Guilin and then cruise the Yulong River as it is just as beautiful as Li River.
The better rafting option would be along Yulong (Meet-the-Dragon) River via traditional manually-steered bamboo raft.
This was more peaceful and scenic than the motorized rafting along Li River. Nonetheless, the provincial tourism authorities could improve by limiting the number of rafts that set off at the same time. By spacing it out, it would provide a more serene experience for visitors and not mar the beauty of the rafting trip.
Nice place around 2-2.5hrs car ride from Guilin Bei High speed rail. In future when the HSR opens a stop at Yangshuo, it will be even more convenient.
We came took abt 2hr45min HSR from Guangzhou south station. Very convenient. West street area is their town but quite noisy so try to stay abt 10min walk away.
Market Prices are reasonable but please don't forget to negotiate with shop staffs always. Tag prices are expensive.
Must see: Yulong River bamboo rafting, Dragon Bridge. Stay outside of the town and avoid the tourist mass.
Don't stay in the downtown area if you want to relax. The cars are always stuck in traffic. Stay near the river and in the mountains because the small streets of the town make it harder for car traffic to come through and most people are walking or biking.
YS is a place from where one embarks for other places of interest such as the Yulong River, XinPing and the caves.
Nice, quiant little town. Worth a stay for a night or two but not more.
One could walk the whole of their famous district known as their "East street". Nothing much to share as everyone is doing the same business as the other one, selling "Beer Fish" or hotelling business.
Take a day trip with bamboo raft and embrace the nature of Yangshuo. Different prices quotes for day trips.
To stay away from a crowded city, you should come here. There are many customs and traditions from the local ethic groups which is worth to come n experience.
All the activities circle in West Street. Do spend some time touring the Li River. Rent a bicycle & take a ride out to see the town.
Find a private tour. We were lucky that our private tour guide was very nice and his car was very new and clean.
Traveling down Yulong River with bamboo raft is a must. Would love to try the rock climbing also next time.
It's a very relaxing place, and there are lots of things you can do and see. In addition, it's not expensive to visit here.
I visited this area a few years back and cannot believe the change. So many bars and restaurants but none deliver quality dining or service.
Unfortunately the locals have no idea about providing a satisfying experience and are only interested in taking the money at the end of the night. We will not be back and we spoke to many others who felt the same.
Very pretty town, with stunning scenery that makes a great backdrop for a cycle around the town into the countryside, or trekking, mountain climbing etc.
In fact, loads of sights although some charge hefty entry fees. Great street food snacks, friendly people and lovely little town.
The transformation of the bar street area is a big disappointment. Booming nightclub music in every bar with open doors, competing with one another, food and garbage all over the road and sidewalk, lots of really bad smells.
I was there 6 years ago and that area was lovely. The 'new' bar street is a huge disappointment.
Friendly little town which is the starting point for main attraction in Guilin. The attrations are wonderful in scenery, like Li River, Yulong River, Chinese Wonderland or simply the countryside.
Yangshuo town is cute, although they have West Street with many bars with not-very-pleasant singers, it is also not a bad choice of nightlife for hanging out.
yangshou is the base to explore the countryside. you need a car to visit all the places. for sure 5 days was not enough.
to see all you need several weeks. for sure we come back but not during chinese holiday, yangshou is a great place to wander around and enjoy great food.
It is really the town of Xing Ping that we found appealing & attractive. The long walk along the Li River there is an amazing experience, & one could spend days repeating the journey & still be captivated by the magnificent scenery.
Yangshou itself was a disappointment; it has become too commercial & touristy over the years, & too crowded & noisy.
We stayed here 2 nights, but really needed 3 or 4. Cycling or hiring an electric motorbike is a must.
There is so much to see. The town wasn't too busy and the country areas were quiet & relaxing. Lonely Planet had fantastic info on this area. There were lovely narrow streets with markets not far from the main street which we bought quite a few things from and a street with small cafes that sold everything you could want to eat relating to mangoes! This is one area of China I will definitely return to.
Yangshuo has great outdoor attractions in the area. The great limestone landscape is something everyone should try to experience when in China.
There are ample opportunities to rock climb, hike, bike, and river raft in the surrounding area for an affordable price. I would avoid the main tourist street, too many Chinese tourists. There aren't any good opportunities for foreign food aside for Mcdonalds and KFC so enjoy the local food!
Tracking tracking tracking We had a guide for 4 days and walked all over the place to see the local attractions and had the best time t
lots of things to do, lots of fun activities - river drifting highly reccommended, bamboo rafting ( 2 seater ) awesome.
markets are really good, people are friendly. food is great, water show was very good as well.
Well worth the trip, just for the natural surroundings. Would love to go back at a time that wasn't a National Holiday so that there wouldn't be a million people.
It's the perfect spot to rent some bikes and ride around the outside of the city. The city centre is a good spot to hang out at night.
I was a little disappointed by the shopping on West Street, but the cafes and bars looked really nice.
Unfortunately, because of all the travelling we had been doing, we didn't get to spend any time checking out the cafes or bars. The scenery surrounding the city is breathtaking. There are few better places I've been to rent a bike and just pedal around looking at all the mountains and caves.
Must try the fish over here, is delious but the price is quite expensive, is depand which shop u are visit.
Some shop the price is fair but some is quite expensive so before order please check the price first. Better go on web search the for before travel in yangshou, is safe time and safe money.
yangshuo is a beautiful city, but it has not been developed very well for tourism. city centre is dirty and smells bad, locals are not so friendly, they just want your money.
The only few places where you can park in the centre, they charge you 20 rmb - 40 for just a hour. you have to bargin everywhere you go which i don't like. really enjoyed the senery sceneary, but it's just not worth the troubles, there are many other nicer beautiful trouble free places you can go for a vacation.
