Our stay at the Reef resort was marred by the end of the monsoon which can hardly be blamed upon the resort. The satellite Internet connection is affected by bad weather and there is no TV which is not such a bad thing for a digital detox which is what this resort is about.
Not perfect but I like to stay again”
It was great and much better than what I expected. Especially, the manager Genta and staffs are very kind and willing to help us for anything. Even though Koh Kradan is very small island and we cannnot expect something in Bangkok, they are doing their best to service for the customers. Foods was great and taste good. the tap water is a little bit salty but it's normal in the small island. Room condition was also great and clean everyday.
Bästa stället på Koh Kradan! ”
Super mysigt ställe med underbar personal! Thank you so much Genta for a lovley stay! Hope to be back some day!
Swimming pool very dirty, Breakfast very poor.
Great localization- a little overpriced ”
+ hotel is almost on the beach + good food in restaurant (but only for dinner/saper, breakfast were bad) + beautiful beach, you can swim by your own to coral reef) - nice and helpful staff - bad breakfast with poor choice - we were 4 days there and everyday almost this same menu (omelet, rice with fruits, tosts, few vegetables/fruits, pancake and that all). we expected something much better - dinners were great but it wasn’t included in the price of hotel :) - shower do not have roof so every insect can get to your room (we have only few mosquitoes but a lot of ants) - hotel is overpriced, for this price you expected something better (you pay for localization) - swimming pool didn’t work
Dear Michal, thank you very much for your feedback, we are really sorry that during your stay the swimming pool was out of order(as explain during check in we had issues with the pump) which is fixed now and swimming pool is working properly now about the breakfast we are trying to improve day by day ... we apologize for the ants, unfortunatly we can't use strong chemicals, but we are trying to find natural remedies... we really hope to welcome you again and hope that during your next stay with us we can satisfy your needs best regards and our sincere apologize reef resort
Ohh so peaceful, food fantastic, staff were so friendly.
Reef Resort is located by a very nice beach where snorkelling is possible. The facility is relatively new, well maintained, has a restaurant area right on the sand and a nice and special bar and reception. They also have a pool, a nice garden and a small mini market . The breakfast is a bit limited, but OK. The selection in the restaurant is also limited, but the food is good. There are also several neighboring restaurants that have a good selection. The rooms are well equipped, Good AC and ceiling fan, the bed is very comfortable. Bath and shower are small and special with shower cubicle under open air and it was a bit difficult to adjust the hot water. There is a small balcony area outside each room with chairs and table and there are plenty of sun beds. The staff is helpful, pleasant and attentive and communicates well in English. The rooms are a bit overpriced, but overall the price level at Koh Kradan is somewhat high. We can highly recommend Reef Resort for a stay
Best place on Koh Kradan”
This is an excellent, friendly option on gorgeous Koh Kradan. The beach is great, really clear and calm and the snorkeling directly out from the shore is superb. The food is delicious, and the bar is lively and fun. A great place to sit, have a Chang and chat with other guests. The best part, though, is the staff. Owner Genta is a gem. She’s super helpful, a fun conversationalist and, we’ll, just cute as a bug. You can’t go wrong staying here.
dear josh, thank you very much for your positve feedback we are looking forward to see you again, we all miss you best regards reef resort team
A bit overpriced hotel in amazing location”
The hotel is located right on the beach in Koh Kradan island. The location is perfect - you can hear the ocean from your room. Right in front there is a fantastic coral reef - all alive with plenty of corals and fish. A lot of people do snorkeling there, hotels provides free masks and tubes (no fins :( ) - and also free kayaks. Breakfast is buffet and was pretty nice, fruit selection is poor (only watermelon which could be better on a tropical island). Staff is really nice and responsive, we checked in early, our room was ready. We arrived in the middle of breakfast and staff offered us a cup of coffee and snacks which was really nice of them. The room was nice, the highlight was the shower which is individual for each room and doesn't have roof - so you can take a shower watching night skies. No insects in the shower / bathroom even though it is in an open air area. The downside was the absence of water in the shower - out of 2 days of our stay we didn't have hot water 1 day and no water next morning. At times the water was coming rusty. Staff tried their best to help to solve this problem but it seems that the water supply equipment has a big issue. Swimming pool had a nice blue color right when we arrived but later it turned green (probably due to rusty water) so we didn't even try to swim there. This wasn't much of a disappointment though - we did a lot of swimming and snorkeling in different areas of Koh Kradan. Attention TV lovers: there is no TV in the room (again, minor issue on such a beautiful island). Sunset beach is 15 mins walk from the hotel on the west side of Koh Kradan - we saw a terrific sunset there. Keep in mind that you will stay in a small island - no grocery stores (no 7/11), no pharmacy / hospital, so bring everything you need with you. Walking outside of the hotel to the left there is a nice restaurant with good food and big servings. To the right of Reef Resort there are a few hotels, one of them - Anantra - offers nice lunch buffet
Feeling home at the beach”
The staff and the manager Genta are very friendly and will do everything to make you feel home. The location is perfect and cosy. A must go if you want to relax and go back to simplicity and peacefullness.
Great place, very relaxed. The rooms were nice. The bathrooms are partially outdoors which does bring some heat and bugs into the room. No big deal. Breakfast was good. Easy to borrow equipment for water sports. Would definitely stay again
Good but expensive”
We were justafter X-mas and it was packed with people, so the breakfast was rather messy. The place is very nice as well as the beach with lots of nice armchairs. The food is really very good and big portions as well. However paying over 110 euro(including tax etc.) it really too much for a place like this. There is little competition on the island, so they can ask it probably. Still we enjoyed it!
Perfect tranquility on a dessert Island”
We had 2 blissful days at Reef Resort and wish we could had stayed longer. The location, the people, it was perfect. The rooms are basic but clean, and the air con and can were great after a hot day. Even better they were a 30 sec walk from the beach, bar and pool! The pool is smaller than it looks on the photos but still fine for cooling off if you dont want to go in the sea. The sea itself is shallow and warm, with snorkelling right off the beach, with kayaks and snorkelling heat provided free of charge. We ate most meals at the resort, all standard, good quality and not overpriced. We also tried the pizza next door, made by Italians and a nice change from nearly 2 weeks of local food. We wish we could have stayed longer, and would def go back. There were lots of family enjoying the beach, but plenty of room to feel that you had your own lttle piece of paradise. Not a lot hapens in the evening so if your looking for late night beach bars and buckets of cocktails this may not be the island for you, but for relaxation, good company and rest it's perfect!
Bit shabby but who cares with a beach like that!”
Hotel grounds look like they've seen better days but was in better shape than some of the beach front hotels we saw. Room was clean and perfectly fine - outdoor shower was fun but a bit buggy. Breakfast not great but OK. However, none of that matters really because you're on the island for the BEACH and it's wonderful. Literally step out of the hotel and onto the white sandy beach. Hotel gave us free use of a kayak and we went around the island on it. A hundred yards down the beach is - weirdly enough on this small Thai island - a restaurant doing some of the best Italian food I've had outside Italy.
Excellent accommodation on Koh Kradan”
Everything is very nice, just like those mentioned in other reviews on this site. Breakfast is just okay. The resort does not have a restaurant but there are some nearby restaurants in walking distance. Not all the rooms have air conditioners, so make sure you request for one. We were staying for two night during mid April. The rooms were very hot and we had a hard time sleeping at night. I was told that there was a plan to install AC's to all the rooms but they needed to fix the electricity generator first. Hopefully, this will be finished within a few months. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Great location close to beach landing site.”
Overall very good. Note that have fans only so people not heat tolerant my think twice about coming during hot season April/May. Great and friendly staff. Owners very nice folk and great to chat with about how the area is developing. Seems we share opinions about the good.bad of it. Lovely setting and room includes access to kayak and snorkel gear. Reef is front of the property.
The Reef is the latest resorts to have been built on Koh Kradan and the last, as the manager told us. So since it is new, it is still in the process of being built and improved. Nonetheless, we had a beautiful room with a rain shower and sea view. The pool was nice, but we preferred the sea, so nice and what a view! The resort is right on the beach, it has deck chairs, hammocks to relax and lounge in all day long... No restaurant yet, but they do serve breakfast. There are a few dining options around, recommend the pizzeria next door. Do know that there is nothing to do on Kradan apart from chilling out, snorkel or kayak, which is why we came here. A special thanks to the staff as they helped us with our travel arrangements, they are very knowledgeable and super friendly! We were the only family staying there, but it was great, they even have beach toys for kids. Good job, keep it up and we will be back!
Very quiet and beautiful place ”
Gents who works in the reception is wonderful!, she speaks 5 different languages (german, Italian, thai etc.) understands swedish. I You live on the beach, and there's a pool. The restaurants on the island is not so good, it's ok. But I think on the reef hotel they are going to have a restaurant in the future. They have only had open in 4 months when we where there.
lovely rooms and staff, but needs fine tuning”
The Reef Resort has only recently opened and is definitely one of the most luxurious places to stay on a budget. The rooms were very comfortable and had aircon an king size beds. However, there was a really bad smell in the bathroom coming up from the sinks during our stay which meant we had to keep the door shut. Also, the hot water was intermittent. The staff were very friendly and the manager did her best to make our stay enjoyable and let us know all the best places to eat. However, the breakfast in the morning was often cold, including the coffee and guests were on-top of each other trying to get to items as the layout of the 'buffet' was poorly thought through. However, i believe that a lot of these concerns will be addressed shortly and a newly opened hotel is bound to have a few teething problems, so i would still recommend this place for people to stay in the future.
Excellent tranquility on a Paradise Island”
This was one of my absolutely most memorable journeys. Being on the this resort on this fantastic island was a great experience. The service was great, very much because of the italian girl who managed the reception. She understands what good service is and she made our stay very pleasant. Note: Don´t forget to bring cash when you´re on Koh Kradan because there are no ATM machines on the island.
