Traveling to Colombia? Find Magdalena Department hotels

The room we stayed in is clean, spacious and the bed was so comfortable. The hotel is situated in a great location (within less than a minute walk to the main strip) but far enough from the noise. Staff members are polite and helpful with any requests. Included breakfast was amongst the best we’ve had on the trip.

The property is a gem ! Great value , spacious rooms , fantastic staff, the food was good and made fresh daily . We found out that the park is closed which we were sad about but we managed to find other activities with the help of the staff .

the hotel is very well located, the rooms are clean and spacious enough. also the staff was really friendly. we stayed one night then left our luggage for a night to go to tayrona park and then came back for two nights. all was very well organised and they were happy to see us again, we felt welcomed. also there is a small pool on the rooftop. it was fun to just sit in there and watch the neighbours on their rooftops do their stuff.

This was definitely the best hostel during our trip around Colombia! For really decent price you not only get great location, bar on the roof, evening activities, helpful and affable staff but also 2 swimming pools (one next to the bar!) and discounts in nearby restaurants (we really recommend Lulo.. mhmmmm). Rooms are clean, quite small but air-conditioned. Beds were comfy. There is small tourist office next to the reception. We really recommend this place!

New hotel, only open 5 months. The staff is super friendly, the hotel is in the perfect walking location to bars and restaurants and any tour you want to take. Rooms are small but perfect if you don’t plan on spending much time in there (which was the case for us, as we were out exploring every day!) AC works very well and it’s very clean

Overall, we enjoyed Casa Mia, especially the friendly staff. The front desk was super helpful with everything we needed. The hotel is located close to a main area where there is lots of music and taxis constantly driving through, so noise was my biggest challenge. We didn’t really sleep well because of the noise (plus taxis just beep their horns all hours of the night), so if you’re looking for peace and quiet, you may want to find a hotel farther from the tourist areas of downtown Santa Marta.

The only little cloud over our stay was the fact that the pools water is too cold to actually spend time in them. We did mention it at checkout.

Nice boutique hostel, spacious room. Really good breakfast but they make a difference between the dormstays and private rooms- little less options for the dorms. Excellent location near the restaurant street.

I was only at Hotel Miami for one night, but it was fine. Our taxi driver had a bit of a problem finding it but who knows why that was. It's in a nice area as well.

The hammock lined lookout tower is their shining gem. Incredible views! Nice family owned business. The only downside was they "The pool is that way" and when we got there it was empty. They were filling it so maybe the next people can enjoy it. Go check out the pool at night to hear and see the cool yellow frogs! Just don't shine your flashlight right at their eyes, it's known to affect them. Also I love how they label the different trees with their common and scientific names.

It is tricky to find, remember the yellow door frame and you'll find it easily! The rooms are very nice. Beds are comfy and the AC is super good. Don't forget to tell the hostel your arrival time so the owner will wait for you. Just keep in touch one day before your arrival and everything is fine! Location is quiet and perfect. Close by is an exito supermarket and everything else is close. The roof top is very nice to relax in a hammock! Showers are not perfect and no hot water. But you don't need hot water here. The best hostel I've ever stayed in. The owner is a great man who speaks good English.

Perfectly located close to the shore, La Españolete is an adorable little hostel with one large dorm and I believe a single private room. The comon area is lovely with an open-air concept that will make you want to stay there all day basking in the breeze. The Homie Moses at front desk can help you with seemingly everything in the world, and speaks perfect English! Swell dude with an awesome, kind charisma.

While not easy to get to, you will be happy you made the effort once you arrive. (Tip: arrange for a car or motorbike to pick you up from Bondo!) The setting is unbelievably beautiful, the grounds are lovely, we loved the food, and while the rooms are simple they are clean and pleasant. We wished we could have stayed longer. We stayed in a private room with air conditioning - the air conditioning worked really well, and was definitely necessary! We stayed in room 3 which seemed to be a bit nicer than the other private rooms, if you can get it. The hostel is clean and seems to be well run, with a very usable kitchen. A couple of complaints: 1) the location isn't great - it's a bit of a walk to get to the main part of town - about 1km or 20 minutes by foot. It's a cheap taxi ride. 2) we booked our tour to the Lost City through the hostel. While the sites were beautiful, the guide was awful (something for another review). We complained to the hostel and they have advised that they are now no longer using that tour company going forward. The tour company was Wiwa - if you book a tour through the hostel, we recommend to check that it is NOT with this company.

The hotel was in a nice location and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were very small and basic, but they were clean and comfortable enough.

We were very pleased with this property. Everything we had been told about it was right on. The pools were magnificent, service could not have been better, breakfasts were delicious and included in our room cost. Price for dinner buffet and poolside service was a little pricey. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. We enjoyed tennis and the gym too. The Travel Agent also guided us in the right direction for sightseeing in Santa Marta. Not a lot to do close by, but we were happy to take taxis to the shopping and sightseeing. We would definitely recommend this hotel for families and couples wanting a safe and quiet environment.

This was a great hotel. The staff went out of their way to help you. If I ever go back to Santa Marta I will book this hotel. The pool was fantastic and had a jacuzzi. There were plenty of pool side chairs and the breakfast was very good too. In an excellent location just minutes walking distance from the beach.

Nice hostel for a relaxing afternoon/evening. The staff was friendly and the space was fun. However, be prepared for a relatively noisy night if you are trying to rest.

This hotel really is very nice, and the staff make it a very enjoyable stay. The staff are very friendly and very polite, with some speaking english. The food is great and not to expencive. I really like that they have several different location all within walking distance, With the hotel/resort, the boutique hotel, the beach club and the villas and then they also have there own little shopping centre with cheaper take away food options and other things. With the access to all the hotels come the choice of 4 different pools and different bars, views and restaurants, and all are staffed with extremely professional personal. The room was clean and large, with a king size bed and a nice bathroom. It was a pleasure to stay there and I recommend this hotel.

I booked and instead what was visible in the photo presentation I received a room w/o outdoor windows. The sitcom was very noisy and either ice cold or If not switched on of course warm. Breakfast is swerved in a cafe on the opposite site of the street - convenient, basic but standard in Colombia. Friendly staff at reception others so and so. Good central location directly at the beach in the middle of things. Just cold water in the bath room.

Very clean hotel, spacious rooms, lots for the kids to do. Breakfast was very very basic. Remote from anywhere no life after sunset. Strictly for families with young kids

It is a o.k. hotel. Breakfast is o.k. There are bars next to the hotel and there was so noisy from bars at night. Our first room had a plumbing problem. The next room was ok. I would stay at another hotel if I come back again.

The room sold didn t correspond to my requirements (quite, high floor, wifi and basic service like hot water?) it was noisy, impossible to sleep, with no wifi. I notified to the hotel all the defects more than once, I asked more than once t the hotel to change my room with a proper one, but it was not possible. I ve asked them to then reduce the price of my booking due to not compliance with basic requirements, but they refused it and forced me to pay in any case This is totally unacceptable and I need a reimbursement

The hotel was very clean and the price was excellent for a penthouse with a roof top deck with small wading pool which was perfect temperature to enjoy the hot evenings and watch sunset. I highly recommend this place as it has good security and great breakfast.

Thing we loved: miles of beach all to yourself, cute spacious huts, delicious food. Places this unique and exclusive are hard to find. Things we didn’t love: beds were extremely hard, Wifi didn’t work for 2 days, food is expensive (30,000 - 40,000 per entre) and repetitive after a few days.

Great place to stay. I had the superior double ( the penthouse) and it was great. Huge comfortable bed, an excellent hammock and a big private terrace with a partial bay view and full mountain view. Taganga is noisy but this place is close to the center but quiet. Andres was such a great host and he helped me book some great tours. Super friendly, super nice. I had great conversations with him and his mom. Randy the dog was a nice pup. All and all the best place I stayed on my travels.
