Had a great stay at Hotel Villa Del Lago -- we even extended our stay by 1 night. We booked the deluxe room with a private balcony because it was the only room available, and are really glad we had to "treat" ourselves - it was really worth the extra $10 or so. The room was spotlessly clean and the staff were always cleaning the common areas. The communal balcony areas are lovely with plenty of seating and tables. Our favorite thing to go was have a drink, play cards, and enjoy the view. The staff also arranged onward transport for us (by bus) and it went smoothly. One thing to note -- there is an additional 5% fee to pay by credit card at this hotel. Perhaps Agoda should make a note of this on the booking page?

It was a pleasant stay. Got a really big room for just me only. Literally need to pay for anything extra.

Waking distance to Tikal! Authentic feel in lodging : rain shower and wake up to sounds of the rain forest. Food was excellent! In our short stay , we had three meals. Only negative is very strict about 3 people per room but can pay an extra $10 for that person I believe. Over all , memorable experience. One last thing, they will keep your carryon in a room if checking out but spending day there. In addition, if yiou need shuttle from Peten , they will pick you up at the airport for a charge. Great having that option. My brother in law was able to join us using this shuttle.

This hotel enjoys more than the best spot in Tikal. It has a great pool area where you can cool down whilst the park is too hot or too busy. The best times to visit the park is early morning and after 3pm when it has cleared of the main bulk of day visitors,you will see more animals and enjoy most monuments all by yourself. We saw many birds including parrots and toucans there are plenty of spider monkeys and howler monkeys and other animals. We stayed 3 nights and had time to explore everywhere even off the beaten track. Although be aware that there are deadly snakes. The pool snacks are great but the restaurant is not fantastic, the first night we did not get a seat as it was to fully booked but there is another restaurant off site called the commodore which (actually) is better in taste but not look, it is also cheaper. The restaurant at the lodge served the main course before we had finished our main course, shame. Also the steaks are not good quality and wifi is poor your in t

We came to Casa Azul after our visit to Tikal and ended up spending three days. The third floor terrace is a great place to chill out and read. It is a great place to sit and watch the sun set. There is also a great view of the lake from most rooms. The beds are really comfortable. The ladies who work at the hotel speak only Spanish, but communicating was not a problem.

With the hotel everything was nice! JUST BE CAREFULL DO NOT BOOK BUS TICKETS AT THE TRAVEL AGENCY IN FRONT WITH GREEN DOOR! He selled me a direct bus ticket to Antigua with AC and 9h journey, at the end we went with a bad small bus no ac for 8 h thru rio dulce, than we chaged to a better bus but had to go thru Guatemala City, it took me 13h to arrive!

We would thoroughly recommend Casa Amelia.Wearrived in pouring rain after 10 hours in the bus,and it all was so welcoming.Soon we had our shuttle booked for Tikal,and were sitting at the breezy lakeside restaurant recovering-restaurant open until 10.Our room was a corner one with lots of windows looking onto the lake.There was a small supermarket and cash machine just round the corner and lots of restaurants nearby, but we were happy to eat at our hotel which was more peaceful.The included breakfast ws very good too.

I paid for a dorm room, but it seems like most backpackers head to Los Amigos in the middle of the island so it meant I had the room to myself which was nice. Really helpful staff (Spanish only - which was fine), helped me book my tours to Tikal, but I paid more than some on the tour so maybe shop around.

the room is big with separated toilet and shower, tv. you can cook in the kitchen. host is nice.

Clean hotel, noisy as a result of flooding of the front street (along the water), which makes the street directly in front of this hotel to be the turning point in a circular route around this tiny island- cars, vans and motorcycles! Be warned that this hotel does not accept credit cards and the expectaion upon my arrival at 10 pm was to pay all 5 days of my stay with cash. The last thing I needed after a 13 hour transfer from Panajachel. It should be made crystal clear by the property that cash for the entire stay upon check in is the only payment option. If I would have known this ahead of time, I would have booked a different hotel- lots of choice on Flores Island and, in retospect, better placed.

As most people I had reservations due to the hotel being across the lake from Flores island. Don't let that put you off if you either call or WhatsApp them they will arrange a taxi to the lake and then a 3min boat ride over. Anytime you want to come to and from the hotel Hector is always happy to take you across the lake. The rooms are basic and goes with the price but clean, hot water and aircon so works out pretty good value. And finally it a great view of the lake.

We had a great room over looking the garden /jungle with monkeys in the tree above our room ( and they stayed there didn't come down and bother us). Great pier to swim off and watch the wildlife, 4 toucans sat on a tree over the hotel, fishing bats and loads of parrots. They run a 530 bus to Tikal so you get to see the best wildlife and the temples before the coaches arrive. Merci beaucoup

This is a great little hotel right in Santa Elena, Guatemala. Close to the bus station, quiet and a few blocks from the island of Flores, Flores has many artisan shops and local restaurants facing the lake just prefect for relaxing after a browsing the shops. It has a pool in a beautiful courtyard and small restaurant.

Not many choices on Flores and this one seems as good as any. Large room. Small pool we didn't use. Room had balcony you could stand and watch the people action below. Street behind is on water and becomes a night market after dark. No elevator. Hotel had a motel feel to it. Room entrance was from outside. Has indoor/outdoor restaurant but there are many restaurants around. Seafood restaurant across street over water was good. You can walk around the whole island in 20 minutes of slow walking. Large police/military presence all around so you feel safe.

The location was excellent - few minutes from the gate to the Tikal ruins. The room was basic but very clean and has everything we needed. For one night stay in the jungle, this place served a great purpose so we could get up at 3:30am to go to the sunrise tour. The place was well-maintained for its location and the staff was very friendly and tentative. The food in the restaurant was decent enough. After all, we were there for Tikal, not to chill out in the hotel and restaurant. We really had an amazing experience in Tikal. For those who left negative reviews, they definitely had unrealistic expectations. I definitely will recommend others to stay here if you are visiting Tikal.

Beautiful place. We booked a cheaper room without a view as I was over climbing stairs and it was only for one night but the best bed so far!

Okay no frills place to lay your head for a night if you’re on a very tight budget (same price as a dorm room elsewhere in town!). It was clean enough although bathroom could be cleaner, great water pressure in shower, family run, very nice owner, excellent wifi reception. Very hot though in the daytime even though there’s a ceiling fan (okay when it cools down at night). I got bitten by a lot of mosquitoes in the room before bed, and there were what looked like flying roaches...

Dingy and dark room, bathroom could be cleaner, but very cheap and okay to lay your head for a single night on a very tight budget. I wouldn’t want to stay more than one night though (unless your other option is staying in dorms - that’s the kind of tight budget I’m talking about).

Looked odd and dirty. Bad smell in room. Staff was rude, loudly knocking the door before the checkout time.

Good for backpackers. Hot shower, wifi, even cable tv, only downside is kitchen is a bit too basic to cook dinner etc

Hotel in a great place with excelente service and location is the best in the Flores island highly recomended to stay if you are planning to visit Tikal
