Warm Owners & Helpful”
My first impression was on how the owner’s children are on the business helping their parents. Then for a welcoming gift, we got to pick lucky draw and would have small practical gifts such as free somtam, discount on massage, etc. Just one drawback, no hot water shower! Hope to come back.
Pleasantly disappointed - it’s a great stay!”
I was really really disappointed with the reviews of this place. After reading so many negative reviews, I arrived expecting to stay in a dump, with smoke smelling rooms, showers with lukewarm water, non-working air-conditioners and mosquitoes in my room. But none of that came to pass. The room was spacious and nice smelling. The shower had hot water. Yes, there was one mosquito, but the cold air from the aircon rendered it inactive. My only disappointment was its distance from the old city, but that’s entirely my fault because I should have known when I booked the room. I really enjoyed my stay here and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Do note that you have to leave a 500 THB deposit when you check in.
Friendly and welcoming”
The team and staff are very caring and thoughtful, that is the top characteristics and I keep returning there every time I am in Chiang Mai. I like the location, quiet district (with enough animation at night still) not too far from the city (and the hotel provides a shuttle), and close to the campus of Payap University, good for early morning jogging. Aso enough shops and restaurants to provide some variety when I need to stay in the area for work for a few days .
We book the super king room. It’s very very very valuable. Comfortable room, and I like the room decoration. It’s quite romance for couple. Only the location a bit far from city but is ok for using Grab below 100thb.
Clean and basic. Recommended”
Very pleased with what we got for 550 Baht per night. Small but clean rooms with clean bedding and everything worked. The staff were excellent and actually upgraded us for free as we had quite a lot of bags. Food in the restaurant was very reasonable and very good. If you want to explore the city, you will need a car or motorbike. Hotel is close to a few good coffee shops and a Big C shopping mall. All in all my wife and I were very happy and would stay there again for sure.
Good in overall”
Fit room for 1 - 2 with proper stuffs for sleep. Air condition in the room was not work properly and got an upgrade for free in exchange on the day later. Reception will close on 11PM but still 7-11 nearby if need any further stuff.
Very chill and laid-back hostel, with a good room. It's on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, so it takes about 20 minutes to get to the main temples, but it's also right next to the superhighway, so it's very convenient. Also, you can rent a motorcycle from the front desk, and a motorcycle will arrive in about 10-15 minutes, which you can rent for 24 hours, so it's great to get around.
Very helpful morning Staff”
The morning staff (very beautiful lady) is very helpful and can speak english, she helps us meet our Red Car driver (who is also very kind) who toured us the whole day. They cleaned our room even though we forgot to put a cleaning sign. The only problem I have is our room don't have a hot water for shower. Only one of the 3 rooms we booked has a hot water. Still, I would recommend this hotel.
Good and worth for money”
This room is worth more than a queen bed, it comes with the fridge as well.
Good basic lodging ”
Zak provides good basic lodging with clean, modern, well-appointed rooms. The rooms are smallish but not as tight as one will find elsewhere in Asia. Excellent free wifi, friendly and helpful staff. Avail yourself of the massage spa though what you are told at check in regarding a discount may not be entirely accurate (only applies if you ask for 2 hour massage). Breakfast (at additional cost) is very adequate though pricier than what you can find on the street.
Worth for money”
The hotel covers only the basic things you need, you can get more features (hair dryer, etc.) by renting with a minimum fees. There is a convenient store and shopping mall nearby. Bus terminal is just 20 mins walk away. Not so convenient if you want to go out at night as there isn't many taxi / tuktuk around the area after 11pm.
Could have been better”
It was quite a pleasant stay for the first few days until we have decided to extend our stay. However we didn't manage to extend because there is miscommunication between night and day shift staffs. Moreover, one of the owner who picked up the call promised to reserve the room for us and that we could pay during the next day but there is different story about this. Lastly we decided to move out because of the broken promise. Despite the personal feedback, the location is out of the city, quiet place and convenience as just walking distance to BIG C and restaurant.
My "go to" hotel”
I have stayed a few times at the Zac while in Chiang Mai. It is always clean, the staff is great, and it gives me a quiet place to stay away from the business in the other areas of town. It is still near shopping and the cinemas and such.
We have stayed there many times and it has always been good. The staff are very helpful. The restaurant food is great, the massage service onsite is great, it is a comfortable affordable place to stay.
A returning customer”
Came back to stay at Zak and was satified to find a 7 eleven within 2minutes walking distance. Zak also improved their menu, adding in Chinese cuisine. Apart from shaky beds and small room, the stay was actually accommodating, receptionist were helpful, dine in food was tasty. Enjoyed the stay, thank you Zak.
Value for money, location is sub-urban”
The environment is quiet and peaceful, the location is around 20 minutes off the city, but if you're able to drive a motorcycle, it wouldn't be a problem. The food and the staffs are really nice. The room is nice and cozy also. The only bad thing about this is because at night, it is quiet and sometimes scary if you're traveling alone.
So nice. Lovely place and great staff”
Staff is very very nice. They are so helpful and polite. Food and services are also good and very cheap. It's as same as local price, the hotel doesn't charge any higher. Room size is great but bed is too solid and uncomfortable. I can feel the spring under it and was afraid to turn my body on it. Water on the sink flew very slow so I need to use water from the tub instead. Then the next day the sink wasn't work at all. There was one light missing from the ceiling. House keeper shouldn't put smelly spray in the room or they really needs to change. All other was very good, especially staff, very very effective and impressive.
Small but good hotel with friendly staff”
I like to stay here when visiting chiangmai. The hotel is small and you have to take time a bit from the airport but everything is close at your hands just 5minutes walk to supermarket and 10 mins ride to the shopping mall.
All-in-all good, but no hot water”
We stay at the Zak Hotel often and normally have no problems, this time however the hot water stopped working in the first room we had so they moved us to another room but the hot water didn't work there either. Otherwise the hotel is in a good location, there are good restaurants within walking distance nearby. The location is off the main road so it is relatively quiet. The food in the hotel lobby is delicious and the massages are very good too. Good place to stay if you don't want to be in the downtown/old city.
Great value for money”
I stayed 3 nights. Great value for money. Room was small and basic but clean. A small balcony but no chair or anywhere to sit and no view. I ate dinner several times and the food was good every time and great prices, even cheaper than food court at the mall. Staff were helpful and most spoke enough English to communicate what I needed. Not a great location for the tourist spots or places to eat, but I wasn't there as a tourist anyway. Looks like a new area which is beginning to develop so there may be more restaurants and shops opening soon. Only problem I noticed was the fridge in the room would turn off when the key card was taken out. So you wouldn't want to leave anything that might spoil in the fridge if you went out for long.
