Amazing North Queensland rainforest eco B & B”

This is an amazing traditional Queensland home with an open lounge/breakfast area overlooking a beautiful garden and views of Thornton peak. Brad and Cathy are lovely extremely helpful hosts.

Fantastic breakfasts, welcoming family who were very helpful and informative about the beautiful flora and fauna.Brad and Cathy are able to book trips out to the reef for snorkeling. We would recommend the Epiphyte to anyone who loves nature and would like to chill out in magnificent surroundings.A week was not long enough and we hope to return in the future.

    Off the grid perfection ”

Our stay with Trish and Kev, who are looking after the B&B, was perfect. They gave us a warm welcome, local knowledge and made it easy to have our first Daintree experience. Highlights included a night walk in the rainforest, snorkeling at the reef and the Dreamtime Walk at Mossman. All recommended by trish. And breakfast of course. My tip would be to stay more nights than you think -- we did 4 but could have done 5 very nicely. Once you get used to sleeping in the rainforest, you won't want to leave. If you love off the grid living, you simply won't find a more delightful place to stay.

    Give yourself time to unwind”

    Location, comfortable bed, friendly hosts

North Queensland takes a bit of getting used to, especially if you are not accustomed to the climate and the tropics. And if, whilst on vacation, you cannot live without a hairdryer (Cape Tribulation properties rely on generating their own power), a long shower (rain water from a tank), or have an aversion to small lizards scurrying around the walls at night, giant spiders and flying insects (take spray), then the Epiphyte may not be for you. But given time, this place grows on you and you learn to leave behind the everyday non-essentials that we believe we cannot live without! The Epiphyte is a place to re-discover life in its purest form.

Not very suitable for families with young babies as it's a share house type style and very quiet. Basic basic facilites provided. Aside that, good and friendly staff

Thank you for your feedback Reagan. It was a pleasure to meet you & host your family. Many families do stay at the Epiphyte B&B. Guests with young babies or small children may prefer to book one of cottages, over staying in the main house, for more privacy. As the Epiphyte is off grid in the middle of the Daintree National Park, we run entirely on solar power & rain water (as do most places in the region) & have a Platinum Sustainability rating from Trip Adviser & are a green leader in eco sustainability. For many guests this a primary reason for staying with us. All rooms have overhead fans, private ensuites, & large balconies with rainforest views. There is a communal kitchen & large open dining area with stunning views across the valley to Thornton's Peak. There is an extensive guest library, numerous instruments & boardgames, & we are situated on 8 acres of tropical rainforest gardens. It is a great space for kids, & adults alike. Thanks again.

Excellent B&B in the heart of the Daintree. Perfect base to visit all the sights in the Daintree and visit the Great Barrier Reef. The owners local knowledge and advice is extremely valuable when planning your day trips and ensured we saw everything we could and avoided peak hours. The property has its own creek and backs into the Daintree national park which is also a bonus. Lastly the breakfast includes locally grown exotic fruits which were really interesting to try!

    Reviewed August 20, 2019

Im very sorry you had this experience: As I had managers in charge of the B & B at this time I can't verify hits review but I can absolutely guarantee that there is much more than just toast and jam for breakfast - the fruit platter (for each room) is large and usually has at least 12 fruits, many exotic species. Plus there is also a very good range of cereals. As we rely on rainwater we ask guests to be mindful of water consumption... to be 'sustainable'... but that is rather different than saying water consumption is not welcome. Until recently, there was only a very limited satellite internet service which was very expensive so we couldn't allow guests free unlimited wifi. Now, however, we have a much improved mobile service and guests can either connect via Optus 9still not Telstra) or hotspot to my service. We ARE ecological and try to be sustainable. Of course this doesn't suit everybody. Thanks for your review.
