We found the hotel extremely dated, the room was completely lacking in ventilation and very small .”

I would not recommend this hotel . We booked the Four Poster Room thinking it might be nice but we were so disappointed. The hotel requires upgrading to bring it into line with most Best Western Hotels and we were very surprised the company dealt with the Kilima.

The room was comfy and big enough for us. It was beautiful & clean. The good-looking managers, Emma & Chris were fantastic. We love their attitude. Emma was ready to inform us without being asked about the interesting places in York we should not miss. What a blessing we received upon arrival. Not only that, the reception placed a variety of teabags, toiletries and some helpful stuff for hotel guests with last min needs. Although we had to wait for an infrequent bus to get to a train station, we are still very satisfied with this hotel condition which is worth more than the money we paid. Thanks Emma & Chris.

Ms Emma welcomed us with a cheery greeting. Was very patient n brought us to the room. Mr Chris the GM kindly chilled our canned drinks in the hotel fridge.

Could of done little touches of cleaning outside seating area as this is the only place to sit in the sun to rear of hotel. Front of hotel could again spent a bit of time sweeping, first impressions are key . Staff very nice and helpful.

Great Staff made the stay”

Superb staff made us very welcome and made the stay. Great breakfast and easy transport to the centre of York for just £1. Room was a little tired but very clean and just fine for a few nights stay to explorer York. Thanks again to all the staff for their personal effort to make our stay great.

Very Good, really enjoyed our stay ”

A very warm and friendly welcome on arrival, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was amazing with a four poster bed and additional private lounge/sitting area and bathroom en suite. We didn't eat there, but the menu looked good. Would definitely go back for another visit in the future. All within easy walking distance of central York too.

I had a great stay, excellent staff. If you want a modern hotel this is probably not your choice. If you want character and hospitality, then this is a great choice. Walk or quick bus to York, a few minutes walk to the Cold War bunker and working flour mill, over the road from Crystal Palace brewery. Pool really nice. Fantastic service and food.

Perfect location - 15 minutes' walk to the race track. Fantastic, lovely staff and a great hotel.

Good base to explore York”

Good location - within walking distance of central York. My room was ok - warm and comfortable to return to on a Dec evening. I didn't like the bathroom layout, found the shower hard to get to a consistent temperature, and hated the clammy clingy plastic shower curtain. I liked breakfast (and would thoroughly recommend the eggs Benedict). I did enjoy my stay and would consider returning, though as a single person did not think it was particularly good value - but I do recognise York is not a cheap place!

Christmas shopping trip”

We arrived to be welcomed by a plate of mince pies at reception, were given a quick tour of the hotel and shown right to our room. My daughter an i were staying in York to go Christmas shopping the next day and the hotel was conveniently close to the station (you can access it via the back gate from the car park which is only a 5 mins walk) and city centre. We booked a twin room and it was large, with comfortable beds and good sized bathroom. We had chosen this hotel as it has a pool and we were lucky enough to be the only swimmers the following morning. The breakfast was very generous with a wide range of choice and it is nice to have personal service rather than a buffet, with all food cooked fresh to order. I would definitely choose this hotel again, it has character and charm compared to modern hotels.

A Comfortable Stay”

We had a good 2-night stay at this hotel. The room size & condition was good and we had a very comfortable stay. The breakfast was good as well. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood about 15-20 minutes walking distance from the main attractions in York. Despite this distance, we found staying at the Best Western Kilima to be worth the price.
