We loved casa Colombo and stayed here on the first and last night of our holiday. The rooms are great with everything that anyone could need. It's perfect for the business traveller as each room is fully equipped as a home office and perfect for the leisure traveller as the rooms and facilities are excellent. We ate 2 times and the food was great. Special shout out to kumara our domo who is both great at his job and and also a lovely guy
An awesome experience”
Our stay at the Casa Colombo Hotel was absolutely an awesome experience. We have never stayed in a boutique hotel before so this was all new to us. The domo experience was fabulous, we really enjoyed his company and all his assistance through out the stay. He was extremely good at his job and we found him to be so very helpful and always with a lovely smile on his face. All the staff were fantastic. The food was excellent and all facilities were great.
Design and heritage in old Colombo”
Very swish hideout in a seemingly unlikely spot, down an alley between commercial buildings on a main road in central Colombo. Casa Colombo oozes atmosphere although the modern, design-forward vibe often pushes the limits for its own sake. Not to everyone’s taste and one can be left to wonder why such a stunning building with so much pedigree needs to be blinged out, W-style. Good service from the ‘domos’ and reasonably-priced menu selections. Visited during the mid-season but the outdoor areas and furnishings looked due for renewal. Room air conditioner blew directly on the bed and was very loud even in its lowest mode, making for a poor night's sleep. Back areas of the building also showing wear and you have to hope the resources are there to provide for the tremendous amount of upkeep this property requires. PS - time for new pillows and mattresses.
Fantastic setting and room and great service”
I had a great time at Casa Colombo when visiting the city recently for a business trip. The concept of the hotel is special and unique in the city. A highly hip, modern, funky hotel set in colonial building setting. The room I stayed in, a Traveller Suite, was very big, with a separate living room. I enjoyed the great high-tech music setup and tv system. There were funky unusual little touches all over the room. Breakfast was high quality and filling served in an a la carte style anywhere in the hotel. The topping on the stay to make it a truly memorable experience was the excellent service provided by my personal butler Aroon which was attentive and yet unobtrusive, supported by the other staff and with the further helpful attention of the Manager. I very much look forward to returning to the hotel on a future trip, with hopefully the family in tow.
Lovely stay and great service”
It was a great centrally located hotel. Arty and modern. large rooms with copper bath tubs. Service was good and staff friendly. Most places accessible by tuk tuk. Very convenient. The hotel itself is an attraction on its own. We would definitely recommend this hote to anyone who is heading to Colombo. Super cool!
Its a fantastic hotel if you like desing and very personal rooms and personal oriented service. It's modern in all aspects of the word. Perhapes a bit of kitch. Te staff is very friendly and very personal in there servicemind. Its close to teh Galle Road and part of the busy city life.
Wonderful place for a honeymoon”
the hotel is an old house transform into an electrifying boutique hotel. the rooms were very huge. the 24 hours butler service (domo) was so wonderful. they will arrange your every needs. we will be back.
Very hip and cool but some downsides”
i stayed a couple of days at casa colombo in room 8 and i concur with some comments below: noisy ac unit, loud noise from nearby club until 5am, weak water pressure and tepid temperature in the shower that spoiled the experience a little. i would recommend against booking the official hotel transfer from the airport. although explicitly noted that it costs one way, there is a service tax on top of it so i ended up paying 9000 rupees (!). you can get an airport taxi right after you leave customs. juts make sure you have the address and a map handy. on the way to the airport, my ' domo' got me a car for 3200 rupees. travel to the airport at noon took me 1 1/2 hours by the way, so plan ahead or you will miss your flight (and don't arrive too early as you won't be allowed in the check-in area at the airport). all in all, i'd say it's nice place to stay as long as you know the little details.
Great Hotel, best choice in Colombo for fun trip”
this was our first hotel in sri lanka and we didn't get disappointed at all, tehy have even upgraded us to the prince suite which was fantastic, the hotel has lots of style in its design, well located, and service is just perfect
Lovely colonial building & Excellent service”
one of the nicest placed I stayed, a luxury boutique hotel. The colonial building has been beautifully designed, the suite was very spacious and modern technologies. A Macbook was also provided as part of the suite inventory. Ideal for a quiet place for relaxation away from busy city. The hotel even allocate a personal butler who was contactable at all times and at your service immediately. We thank Arrun for his excellent service with great smile. Food is well and deliciously prepared and the price was very reasonable. I would recommend and will sure go back to this hotel.
Casa Colombo was perfect for our family. The place is a haven of peace in hectic Colombo. The rooms are original, classy and very comfortable and the pool was exactly what we wanted. The staff took excellent care of us but Kumara was outstanding, helpful, kind– a true professional. I don't know when I will ever get back to Colombo but when I do, I will go back to Casa Colombo. Thank you for a beautiful stay!!
3 nights from 28th September ”
Room was lovely, staff attentive and food good. Only downside was that in our room the shower is a clear glass cubicle in the main room and the loo, also in the main room, is not that private either.
We had a lovely stay in this character filled and cleverly designed hotel. Our personal Domo was very helpful taking care of reservations, cabs and always had helpful suggestions of places to go. It's a great tucked away hotel to spend a couple days in the city and explore.
Beautiful building ”
Beautiful old building restored so well. The room was huge and stylish with a really comfy bed. Staff team were very friendly and were kind enough to let us check in early when we arrived. One suggestion is to have filtered water available so as to minimise plastic bottle usage.
Amazing Boutique Hotel!”
it is a small hotel with only 12 rooms in total, but it was very stylish. I really like the decoration and the room is very spacious. Our butler Arrunis very willing to help. We needed an early check out the next morning and Arrun arranged early breakfast for us, when we went downstairs the table was all set up. Very nice experience!!
A great place to explore Colombo”
A great place to start two weeks in Sri Lanka. The organised pickup from the airport was worth it, landing after a long transit it was nice to be greeted as the airport was busy. Our butler Arrun was superb. Location is perfect to see the main sights and sounds of Colombo.
It was a short stay but the room was amazing! Design and layout of the room was great - though having the toilet in a glass cube in the room was a little disconcerting! We ate in the restaurant as the location didn't afford loal dining. The food was acceptable but not up to 5 start standards, Burger overcooked, rice/risotto overcooked and bland. Wine was incorrectly stored, too warm and was spoiled. We sent back one bottle so settled for a single glass of house pilotage and this also clearly had been opened for some time - it was like vinegar..... Over all a great stay, thought we mark it down for the food and wine....that is a 'could do much better'
Great boutique hotel in a setting away from the city madness. Rooms have everything you could need and more - office supplies as well as great bathroom supplies. Staff were very friendly especially as a flight delay meant we missed our first and only night of booked accommodation. Great food - try the hoppers. Will definitely return when in Colombo
Amazing hotel in the heart of colombo!”
I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The building is over 200 years old and there are only 12 rooms so although it is large, still has a cosy vibe. The room itself was amazing, the bed was huge, there was a large bathtub next to the bed, the second room had a really comfy couch and the shower and bathroom were also in the same room, which sounds a bit odd but looked amazing. It was decorated in a really cool way. The pool outside was fantastic, such a great temperature and the day beds were so relaxing. The bar has 2 for 1 cocktails in the afternoon so we relaxed by the pool enjoying drinks. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a good location in colombo, down a little ally which makes you feel away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We will definitely be back!
I had heard great things about CASA Colombo from friends but it had always been booked up whenever I had looked before (disadvantage of being a late booker). This time it was available and I stayed for 2 nights in the Tickell Road suite. Although I arrived around midnight I received a warm welcome and Kamara could not have been more helpful or informative including about the very well furnished room. First reactions to the hotel and room - wow! Not really my style but I would be surprised if anyone cannot be lost in the splendour and happiness of this place! Good location on the Galle Road convenient for business travel, and a short ride from all the shops, eateries, and sights of Colombo. As a vegetarian, I found the menus very limited but discovered an Indian vegetarian restaurant about 2 minutes walk into Colombo on the same side of the Galle Road, and enjoyed a very good dinner (for under 200Rs!). That said, when I mentioned I was vegetarian Kamara arranged for a nice fruit platter together with my toast for breakfast and if you do have any requirements I am sure the hotel would gtry to accommodate as afar as possible if notified in advance. There was some minor building work progressing nearby which meant the pool was not such a peaceful place to relax but I am sure that in season this would not be a problem and it would be a very tranquil spot to relax with a glass of wine. Certainly not pitched in any way as a business hotel, but I noticed that many of the guests were on business, and for a short stay I would recommend as a refreshing alternative to the chain hotels. When I bring my wife on holiday to Sri Lanka I am sure this is where we will stay. Comfortable, unique, and very well looked after (huge praise due to Kamara for this). Definitely one to try - just remember to book early!
