Expensive but good scenery”
Stay in self contain unit, cabin not sound proof, lucky to have quiet neighbors, beautiful mountains outside unit, wonderful walk to lake Pukaki with cute rabbits abound but wear waterproof shoes, have to walk across streams to get to lake shore
Self-contained cabin was very good”
Even this hotel location is not in Mount cook village but the scenic is also very good.We stayed in Self-contained cabin room which has everything we need, clean and new .Kitchen are convenient for our cooking. All facilities was very good.
Everything is fine, great facility. But ...”
We checked in late after the office hour, the reception was closed when we arrived. It took us almost 20 mins to figure out where to get our room key. We drove a car through the whole centre twice. Could not get a clue what to do, we need to pulled our car and ask the other travelers where to get the key. I would expect the reception to open 247 or should have told us about this before our stay.
45kms from twizel where the only supermarket is located, 20kms from mount cook where the only eatary is located. The cafe in the hotel closes at 4. If you’re thinking of booking over here get your own food you wont believe we struggled for salt and pepper in this hotel and then too didnt find it!
Nice and comfy room and 20mins walk to Lake pukaki”
We stayed in a self contained unit. The bed was very comfy but the forth person had to use sofa bed. The kitchen and bathroom was nice and modern. The cleanliness is superb.
Nice location, good setting & facilities.”
The free WIFI facility for 30 minutes is inadequate and the hotel could consider making it available for the total duration of stay, like in most other hotels. if not, then they could increase it to at least 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening.
Nice cabin for a stay when going to mt cook ”
There was a heater everywhere In this room which made it super comfy to stay in.was also next to lake pukaki which I might had has the bluest waters. Do rem to bring lotsa ur own food to cook as there are not many eateries around except a cafe which has nothing much to offer. Kitchen has pans, a fridge and a kettle. Essentials basically. Toilet was also good with hot water. Room was spacious enough to walk around . Would rec staying here if ur visiting mount cook as it's just a 10 min drive.
Very nice experience there you will meet the best staff, wonderful view and delicious foods! we'd suck in an accomination for 2 days without electricity due to the snow storm but we really enjoyed with foods that made by staffs and they looked after us for everything through. i'm going to stay there again with my family this year!
We had a great one-night stay here. We were a bit skeptical at first (reviews relative to price), but this ended up being one of our favorite places we stayed at during our 2-week trip through NZ. The "self contained unit" had lots of space, with two beds and a fold out couch. The kitchen and bathroom seemed recently redone. The location is about 15-20 minutes from Aoraki/Mt Cook town, but you have a clear view of Mt Cook. Might be worth it to pay a little more to stay in town, but we enjoyed our stay.
Nice and cozy, great view”
I had a great time. The staff are well trained. The view at the place is great. The selection of accommodation at Mt Cook Village is limited, this hotel is well featured and is cheaper. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay
Basic unit only has beds. Toilets / bathroom/kitchen are shared facilities. Hence, we get addnal room, ie self contained unit where we (family) can have own toilet/bathroom/kitchen :) It's far from Aoraki where food is easily available
Perfect for a night”
Arrived late in the night and I don't remember if I included a note in my agoda booking about our late arrival. Our keys and room info was left for us in the late check-in mailbox outside of reception...super easy! It was very dark there with nothing but the stars in the sky. Room was spacious for 4 people (1 double or queen (?), twin, sofa pull-out.) They provided us with everything we needed...towels, extra blankets. Great stay for our first night in NZ! Breathtaking views of the area when we woke up the next morning too!
good base to visit mt cook”
stay at this holiday park to explore the Mount Cook nearby. The park have a very nice open air dinning/pinic area with a few benches. When during summer time it was a wonderful place for a meal with the family and enjoy the beautiful scenery at the same time. The centralized bathroom and kitchen is also clean and well maintain. There are some bbq pits that is very suitable for outdoor dining.
The cabin is nice, but probably need screen in summer to allow fresh air come in while filter mosquito outside, I wish the part can be improved. The location is quite good, walk to lake, you can see mount cook and lake and the same time, a lot of rabbit run around, a fun place.
Basic cabin with fantastic view”
We spent one night here on our visit to the Aoraki/Mt Cook area. We were lucky with the weather, which allowed us to have fantastic views of the mountains from our cabin. There aren't many restaurants in the area, but food can be obtained from the park HQ. Cooking can be done in a central building on the holiday park grounds. The Mt. Cook walking tracks are a 20-30 minute drive from this location.
view is superb. you can see mt cook from your room. facilities good and value for money
comfortable, nice facility”
Comfortable and all you’d need. ”
I loved staying here however would have loved eateries a little closer and for the cafe to open earlier as we needed to set off before 8am. But generally the place was amazing.
half campground/ half cabins with an amazing view of Mt. Cook”
Our private room was small, but adequate - a double bed, single bed and a convertible couch along with a small kitchen and bathroom. The walls were very thin - don't expect to sleep in. You can hear almost everything in the room next door and the helicopter tours take off from the ground starting early the next morning. The restaurant attached to the reception area serves and good, if expensive, breakfast. Bring your own food for dinner. The closest place to eat is at Mt. Cook - very pricey and 20 minutes one way from the Park Centre. The closest grocery is almost 45 minutes away.
Great Location with satisfied stay”
It's great that the hotel room we booked come with attached toilet but it is a pity that it does not come with attached bath room. Overall , we enjoyed the helicopter ride but not too happy with the Glacier Explorer Boat Trip (no value for money). The kitchen facility and dining room are fine. The Mt Cook Village is quite a distance away. Perhaps it is better to stay at Mt Cook Village if one prefer to be embrace by snow capped mountains as this place is still far from the mountains.
