Excepcional”
Our room was nicely appointed and very spacious, too. The staff members were very helpful and exemplified Scottish hospitality. The breakfast was excellent and the food was wonderful at dinner as well. And the outdoor courtyard bar/restaurant was a nice respite from a busy day in the city. The location was perfect for exploring Edinburgh, especially for attending the Fringe Festival and visiting the sites in Old Town.
Lovely hotel but horrendous damp smell in corridor”
Overall hotel was great and pleasant stay, with room and bed fantastic however the corridor smelt so foosty like damp from the carpets or something. Told staff but it wasn’t really taken seriously which I found odd... I would skip the basic breakfast as the Buffett table was seriously lacking in items and you’re only given a single slice of toast each, rubbish considering it’s £14!
Excepcional”
Good location Lovely interior
Great service, convenient location ”
Great sized room in a good location, attentive staff meant we felt well taken care of. The free standing bath was an absolute highlight. Would definitely stay again
Would stay here again ”
The personnel at Hotel du Vin were incredibly gracious, welcoming and accommodating. Perfect location in Old Town Edinburgh (easy 15-20 walk to New Town). Seven hundred year old building has been restored to include comfort and modern amenities while maintaining its historic feel. Very cozy, charming, comfortable room. Delicious breakfast on our last day with truly outstanding table service. We were quite pleased with this hotel.
Fantastic ”
Lovely room and decor, staff were friendly and welcoming, perfect location for Royal Mile, would definitely return and recommend.
loved this hotel”
Hotel had terrific history and very well done. Rooms are very nice, linens great quality, robes in room, staff fantastic. Had breakfast daily in bistro, was very good. Nice bar and separate whiskey bar. Lovely courtyard to sit with service. Would definitely recommend
loved this hotel”
Hotel has a fascinating history - if you ask the desk, they will provide a sheet explaining. Location is fantastic. Enjoyed breakfast in the hotel. Rooms were very nice, beds and linens excellent. Very nice hotel bar and whiskey bar. Totally enjoyed my stay here.
Location in Stylish surroundings”
I've stayed at this lovely hotel in the past, and I really didn't need a reason to book again, but if you are attending many of the comedy events during Fringe season then this Hotel is Location, Location, Location with a 2 minute walk from George Square where so many events take place, and only a 4 minute walk in the other direction from the Royal Mile. The shower is one of the best I have experienced.
Great spot!”
Front desk staff very helpful. Wonderful sweet. Make sure to say hi to Danieli at the bar!
Hotel du Vin Edinburgh June 2016”
Over rated, cold staff and over priced everything. Wanted to stay another night (for convenience) but hotel reservations quote almost £200 and wouldn't match or move towards Agoda price of £165.
Wonderful Location”
Walking distance to everything, beautiful facilities and amazing staff!
Stunning hotel with immaculate attention to detail”
Extremely sensational experience right in the heart of Edinburgh. Great experience, staff, rooms and facilities - highly recommended!
Great alternative ”
We flew in for a short vacation in Scotland and have stayed in several HDV's before so Edinburgh was on the list. Great suite.... interesting design and good staff. Food as expected plays a big role and we were not disapointed. Location offers a different perspective of Edinburgh and within easy walking distance of the royal mile. Would we stay again? yes certainly... if only for the espresso machine and a great steak write
Short stay after moving home ”
2 Night stay. Very comfortable room and good central location. On check in black suited and booted girl ( French) on Reception efficient but no smile on welcoming and aloof however rest of staff couldn't do enough for us especially girl who served us in the dining room. Downside no car access when arriving and departing and as we had 4 large pieces of luggage and small bags was not convenient as weather against us, however hotel staff were helpful once I appraised them of my situation ! Hotel suits international traveller with minimal luggage or city breaks in that respect! Also no integral parking but do have 20% discount at local NCP however would soon have accrued charges for our 48hr stay!! One meal in Hotel £80 for two so ££ for city hotel and food excellent as was wine!! Would return with minimal luggage and no car!!!
Great Hotel - Room a little 'tired'”
It was generally good, but I had booked two rooms which were their most basic ones. However, I would say both rooms were in dire need of some refurbishment. The blinds at the windows did not work, the shower door was stuck so that you couldn't reach the taps, the room did not feel very well planned. There was barely anywhere to put anything as most the space was taken up by the coffee machine. It felt like a case of - the manager needed to spend a night sleeping in the room to identify the problems. I left a note for the housekeeper, pointing out the broken blind and a flickering light etc and these were attended to at least on a 'bodging it for now' sort of basis. Having said that, the restaurant, bars and general reception areas of the hotel are fabulous and there is always a great atmosphere there. Great location too.
Godd location and service”
Overall a very good stay - small problem with a meal was addressed and discounted. Nice rooms and attentive staff.
Xmas treat”
Very nice. Comfy beds.Great food. Friendly helpful staff.
great stay”
Great location, staff, breakfast & design”
Very enjoyable experience from check in to check out. Staff were lovely and the breakfast was delicious. The location of the hotel was fantastic - near all of the sights but not a noisy location. Loved the style of the hotel it had a lot of character and was romantic. The staff went above and beyond - it was a birthday treat and I'd asked if we could check in early because it was his birthday - which we were able to. Furthermore we came back to our room to change, to find chocolate dipped strawberries and a whisky miniature and a card from the hotel - a lovely and unexpected touch. Thank you.
