Mucho Zen y poca realidad”
Favorite hotel in Kyoto”
Pros: This hotel is simply beautiful. It’s modern yet very Japanese in style. The breakfasts are great. We have eaten lunch & dinner at Kanra Kitchen & dinner at the teppanyaki restaurant & the food is excellent. The service is exceptional. The gifts for sale in the lobby excellent for gifts & yourself. I am always buying items there. The hotel & service is all very well done. It is also a short 10 minute walk from Kyoto Station. Cons: no laundry machines
Best hotel I stayed at so far!”
The overall design and layout of the hotel are amazing, but the concierge team is even more spectacular! 2nd time staying here and coming back to the hotel after a day always feels like you're coming back home... Amazing!
Unique a fabulous blend of traditional and modern”
The main reason to stay here is to get a room in the annex building and one of the designer, luxury or executive suites. The design was absolutely stunning with paper window shades to defuse natural light , fusion traditional sitting area for two people, and a very comfortable bed. Staff was very gracious and the bathroom and rub are also Impressively designed. About 20 to 30 minute walk from downtown Kyoto, was very close to the train station. If being in the middle of the action is for you you should stay somewhere else. But if you want unique high-end, one of a kind luxury accommodations definitely book one of the luxury, or deluxe rooms in the annex building. We didn't want to leave
A Fantastic Hotel”
Had a 4 night stay here and it was perfect. Located blocks from the train station and across a small street from a huge Buddhist temple. Traditional Japanese rooms but a bit bigger. Amazingly helpful staff. They called and walked us out to taxis, and recommended great restaurants. Peaceful and serene. This was easily the best hotel we stayed in during our 3 weeks in Japan. Highly recommended.
The Kanra Hotel is simply beautiful ”
The service in all the areas is excellent. The quality of the food, furnishings in the hotel, items it chooses to sell are all great. We have stayed there repeatedly and will definitely be staying there again.
Modern Ryokan that is well run and beautiful. The front desk all serve as concierge as well with excellent recommendations. The breakfast is one of the best meals we had in Japan. Take the tour with Sakura. She makes you feel like you are touring with a family member.
Superb experience staying with Kanra”
Me and my wife stayed here 3 nights for my birthday. Hotel Kanra has got very convenient location, only 2 mins walk from the Gojo subway station. Room interior has got a perfect balance of traditional and modern style, and it’s very spacious compare to the average size of Japanese hotel. The reception team is extremely friendly and helpful. Especially for Mr Fujiwara from the reception team who has been patiently assisting us on booking restaurant, booking Kimono rental and recommending good tourist attractions in Kyoto city. Also, Mr Fujiwara and Tsuka has secretly prepared a birthday gift(Kyoto chocolate) on my birthday, which was super thoughtful and sweet. Our experience with Kanra was way beyond amazing, would definitely come back again!
beautiful place lovely breakfast , but we needed to pay additional fee for breakfast for one child”
beautiful place , clean , when you have breakfast included , i thought the kids are free , but unfortunate they had charge additional 3000¥ for kids breakfast ?, same price as an adult , very disappointed . But the hotel it self is a small , clean , modern. I would recommend this hotel
very nice room ”
The room is very nice. Bathroom is big and new. Staff speaks very good English. Location is close to the station, but we had kids with us, the walk felt much longer. will stay here again if going to Kyoto.
Very nice and fun to stay.”
The hotel was amazing! Having such wonderful staff helping you whenever and wherever. The hotel room was a magnificent it had a nice Japany feel to it. Which I liked. The breakfast in the hotel was delightful, having the choice of Japanese styled breakfast and Western style breakfast. It’s very good in my taste. I’d like to come back to this majestic hotel again soon!😍
I am really happy with the hotel. Its not a big five star hotel, its more like a boutique hotel but it really gives the true Japanese traditional experience. The cleanliness and the staff is top perfect. They are very kind and helpful. I would recommend this hotel when your travelling with kids.
just too good ”
the room is special, cozy with the re-arrangeable furniture. bath room is excellent. location is perfect. having a nice view at night time with the Kyoto tower. perfect for families with young kids.
Such a beautiful hotel, stunning room. Amazed by room size. Staffs are extremely polite and helpful. Pay attention to every single detail. Have to mention its Japanese style breakfast, beautiful presentation and tasteful. Spa service a must try. Unforgettable stay.
This is a cool hotel and a hotel with a difference. It isn't cheap. Everything is clean. Very comfortable beds. Toilet is separated from the bathroom room (no soap in the toilet. We asked for it but it never came.). Loved the big wooden bath. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much.
You would never imagine to find such a special hideaway in a walking distance straight from Kyoto station. The room was almost like a good mixture of a hotel and ryokan, very modern with a touch of Japanese design. The staff was pleasantly hospitable and we literally enjoyed every single minute of our stay at Hotel Kanra Kyoto. (Try the stone baked pizza at one of their restanrants in B2F!)
Superb service at Hotel Kanra!”
My family and I traveled to Kyoto and stayed at Hotel Kanra for our first four nights. From the moment we entered the hotel, we were showered with attention from the front desk concierges and other staff. Check in was a breeze, and we were each given a glass of refreshing cold sencha as well as an azuki red bean pancake sweet treat - a really nice mid day boost before setting out to lunch. Although check in was officially at 3pm, we arrived in Kyoto at about noon and our rooms were already ready to our surprise. We were thoroughly wowed when we were shown our rooms, as we did not expect rooms of this size and decor. The rooms are expansive, and the tatami seating area was a nice touch that added a little Japanese traditionalism to the interior design. Beds were adequately comfortable and we made use of the hinoki bath tub in the bathroom every night. We were given rooms that faced the temple which was a quiet street and so we slept well each night. Every morning we set out to a different part of Kyoto - Kibune, Fushimi Inari, Uji, and even a day trip to Nara. The front desk was extremely helpful in getting us 5 person taxis and pointing out directions accurately. Each time we walked out and entered the hotel, the front desk greeted us warmly and asked how our day was going which was a very pleasant touch to their hospitality. Although the hotel is not located along the main streets of Kyoto, it is 1 minute away from Exit 8 of Gojo Station, which is 1 subway stop away from Shijio (where Daimaru, Takashimaya and other main boutiques are located). We used a mixture of taxis and the subway to get around depending on where the sights were. Overall, Hotel Kanra surpassed our expectations and we would not hesitate to return in the not too distant future!
I couldn't emphasize on how amazing our stay in Kanra was, the staffs (ms Kashiwa in particular) were very helpful, she was very patient with our endless inquiries regarding things to do in Kyoto. We were greeted upon entering the hotel, it wasnt just during the check in but it was every time we leave and enter the hotel. The moment we enter the hotel and the room we found ourselves immersed in the fragrant cedar wood .later we found our the wood panels and wood bath tub that was located in our room were responsible for the scent. As a foodie myself, i find Kanra's breakfast superb, down to food presentation, service to taste. All in all i would reccomend Kanra to anyone, especially those who can appreaciate great hospitality and little details.
