Clean, excellent location, front desk guy not so great”
Pros: loved the scenic village, awesome view or the lake, close enough to ride bikes to the ancient city and CanShan mountain. Amazing little farming village sorrounding the inn. Cons: front desk guy not so friendly to foreigners, Chinese breakfast left us hungry, cold rooms no heaters except electric blanket, they recommend the next door restaurant which is overpriced and not foreigner friendly.but they are friendly:) bring your own coffee, breakfast foods, eat in the ancient city, we were dying for Western breakfast Gogo cafe on foreigner street has a fantastic breakfast for 35 RMB
not worth the money”
takes too long to get there, price is too high
Beautiful scenery and kind staff”
I visited Dali Einn Inn as a family trip. Scenery is perfect, since it is located next to the Erhai. One thing, location is not as good as hotels located in Old town. But it is still worth visiting.
But nice view.. but a little expensive
Very Nice, Clean, Friendly Hotel”
Such a good decision”
We were in one of the sea view suites, which was definitely worth the money--anywhere else and a room this nice would have been twice as much. Pluses: amazing lake and mountain views; careful positioning of the rooms and balconies so you have privacy; wonderful pillowtop mattress and good pillows; slate shower, big bathtub, huge balcony with recliners, walls of windows, roof deck, a full-size water cooler (instead of a couple of bottles). Very nice staff. it’s true the staff won’t come in and clean your room or refresh your towels automatically. You have to ask. The coffee didn’t cost extra, but was mostly cocoa and milk. We ended up buying coffee in Dali Old Town and making it ourselves. And there is indeed a family that lives on a fishing boat right next to the hotel, but they certainly weren’t creepy (as one reviewer thought), or remotely interested in the hotel guests. They just live there. Location: The lakeshore has multiple small new hotels with similar glassy rooms and patios. Dali Einn is the furthest north, so its view is the most expansive (not into another hotel but over the lake to the north and east). Behind the hotels are houses with patches of vegetables and rice growing here and there. Most of these houses are in a state of renovation, but it seems like each family is fixing up their own place—there are only ever a couple of people working on a given house. The construction noise was minimal. The paths between the houses are under construction too, so the first walk to the hotel is a little challenging. There are convenience stores open late, and people selling the produce they’ve just farmed. One woman was selling delicious baked goods—we had a sweet-salty bacon-filled pastry, and corn muffins that were a lot like french madeleines. We liked the village and the hotel much better than the touristy, commercial walled city, and were glad we stayed somewhere so quiet and beautiful.
Had a double room (non lake view), room was full of mosquitos, no fan, a lot of construction (the sound of hammer drills greeted me every morning) in surroundings and even within the hotel itself. The alley to the hotel is not paved, big muddy mess to drag your bags down. Owner is new to the hospitality business, and not very sensitive to the needs of Western guests. They tried to up-charge us on coffee ($5 a cup) when there was no menu and no mention of this cost. Don't waste your money here, there are much better deals around. Maybe in a few years when all the surrounding construction around the lake is finished and the staff has some more experience, it might be worth a visit.
Very unique hotel”
Nice scenry, roomatic just like a picture”
The hotel is so beautiful, the scenery is just like a postcard. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The owener of the hotel is from KwangTong and they are all so friendly. This hotel is quite hard to access and a bit far from the town centre. It is only suitable for couples, especially those looking for quite and romantic feelings.
Nice little hotel close to the water”
The hotel is not centrally located near the Dali old town, a bit difficult to find. But the room condition is good and right outside the window is the 洱海. So very good view in deed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Pleasant stay.
Comfortable stay, located in a quiet Bai village ”
A pleasant stay. Jenny, Jay and Xiao Lai are very friendly. Nicely decorated living room, clean room, but slow flow of water during shower and bad drainage of water.. you may find small flooding in the bathroom after the shower. Basic amenities, family feeling stay. A lot of construction nearby, thus not for light sleeper. 4am in the morning the roosters will start making noises... typical village life. Due to all the constructions, the lake side are quiet dirty and polluted. However, sitting on top of the roof top at night watching the moon and stars or sunrise in the early morning was great.
overall the stay is nice... nice view of room....but poor transportable n accessibility
Beautiful room with amazing view”
We had arranged for someone to pick us up as it was quite remote, about a 15 minute drive to Dali Old Town, which meant organising transport beforehand. There was a lot of construction work going on around the hotel, but our suite still had a great view, despite I suspect several fishermen camping outside and noises of dogs, geese/ducks and the villagers at times and lots of mosquitos. But definitely does not affect the big bath (which took almost an hour to run), the lovely balcony which stretched across the picturesque views, Chinese styled sofa and tea set and a big bed with books on the bedside table which made it such a quiet, romantic atmosphere. Breakfast was included, but it was very simple with a couple buns, boiled eggs, and congee. On our last day there my boyfriend and I somehow were given a mock sandwich of two sickening sweet Chinese sliced bread with mayonnaise inside and a slice of cheap cheese which came in the packet - because the owner had assumed my white boyfriend didn't want the normal breakfast. When we asked for something else for breakfast they had given it all to a big Chinese family so when I expressed our anger the staff did compensate with two bowls of noodles with egg and tomato which normally has to be paid for. I think it must have been a mistake/mix up because the staff were generally nice and friendly, but it felt like racist behaviour that affected our mood by the time we left. It would have been perfect with room service, although food could be ordered downstairs (which doesn't have a proper restaurant) and the room didn't have a mini fridge, a bar, or even a wardrobe and our room wasn't cleaned during our stay. For the price I paid I might have expected service more like a hotel instead of a hostel, but the room itself was spectacular.
Awesome views, relaxing stay, friendly staff”
It is quite a drive from the train station, but not that far off. It is on the west side of the Erhai (Er Lake) so you get to see a sunrise if the weather is fine. Our time in Dali was wet and it was raining non-stop but this hotel made the weather conditions rather agreeable with the great views, Cantonese speaking staff, great food and "home" feel. It is not cheap for Chinese standards but it is certainly worth it, if you like a home away from home feel.
Great potential lakeside hotel when finished”
Located on the quiet shore of the Erhai lake, this boutique hotel could be a real gem once the building works around and in front of the hotel will be done. Right now the lake view is blocked but rubble, a noisy fisherman squats in a wreck 2 meter in front of the lovely dining room and stares directly into some of the ground level rooms, building sites just behind and next to the hotel ruins the otherwise quiet area. The hotel is situated about 3 km from Old town Dali in a new (hence the works) but lovely village. Would recommend this hotel once it is all finished and quiet and they get rid of the strange man in the wreck....
The best place for free yourself ”
First I would say the host of the hotel are a nice, friendly and helpful couple. And second, I appreciate the living room. there are a lot of good books and magazine for reading. Further, the little ketty is so cute! Its name is 小呆瓜，哈哈last but not least, the location is great. It's just beside the er hai, and you can enjoy the sunrise if you are lucky enough to have a good weather.
Great Design, great owner, Great Story”
wonderful experience at the roof top terrace”
