Habiamos reservado una suite en la llamada "classicl wing", cuando entramos a la suite, nos encontramos con un cuarto en muy ml estado de conservacion. El baño pesimo. Lo unico bueno la vista hacia la Galle Face. Nos quejamos y el gerente nos cambio a la zona nueva, a una habitacion en mucho mejor condicion.

Ambiente Colonial en el centro de la ciudad”
La estancia en el hotel fue muy buena. Las habitaciones del hotel están muy limpias, el desayuno tiene mucha variedad. Ideal para disfrutar un día de relax en la piscina mirando el océano Indico antes de finalizar la estancia en Sri Lanka. La comida que se puede degustar en los distintos restaurantes que hay dentro del hotel está fenomenal y el precio es bueno.

Excelente ubicación perp habitaciones pequeñas”
el hotel está en una ubicación excepcional. el hotel está muy cuidado y es realmente acojedor. la comida es buena sin ser nada del otro mundo y las habitaciones estan bien pero hay y algunas (como la nuestra)sin vistas al mar. por el precio que pagas tendrían que advertirlo. no hay wifi. sólo pagando. una verguenza!!!

Clásico hotel colonial Inglés”
Nos dieron una habitacion en el ala antigua, es decir sin reformar desde hace un siglo, con suelo de madera encerado que cruje al pisarlo. Las ventanas deben a la playa ya mar. El buffet del desayuno es correcto para su categoría. Una maravilla recomendable para pasar un dia en colombo. Podrian ser mejores las margaritas, pero en fin ambiente a tope. El personeal es muy amable y uno se siente como un Lor inglés. Medio hotel ha sido reformado pero creo que aunque la reforma hace que las habitaciones y los baños sean mejores se pierde gran parte del encanto único de este hotel

Historia y estilo”
Es un hotel muy bien ubicado con una tradición y estilo único,donde se pueden ver atardeceres mientras se toma una copa con vista al mar. Lamentablemente las habitaciones no están a dicho nivel, ya que de los servicios sale olor a cloaca y las toallas que nos han entregado están en pésima condiciones (gastadas con agujeros). La falta de pintura en el hotel se deja ver por muchos lados.

Mitico hotel demasiado anticuado y caro”
Fue nuestra primera noche en Colombo, dado el precio que habiamos pagado esperabamos una habitacion de lujo. En contra nos encontramos que la habitacion era pequeña, daba al area de maquinas, el lavabo muy antiguo, nada renovado. Si que habia detalles en el baño( zapatillas, champu).mucho ruido ya que se estaba celebrando una boda en el piso de abajo. El desayuno en cambio muy bien, ninguna queja. A mi modo de ver demasiado caro por el estado actual del hotel.

Galle Face Hotel - My favourite in Colombo!”
I LOVED my stay here at Galle Face Hotel. Unlike most of the other hotels in this area, this is the one with a clear period charm, its colonial heritage makes it a wonder of Colombo and there is so much depth and uniqueness to this hotel.. making it local NOT bland. The renovations completed in the mid 2010s are excellently done where they acknowledged this hotels, rich cultural past while providing the modern benefits required to effectively compete with the stiff competition just further down the road. What others can't beat is the unique beauty of Galle Face hotel and its excellent and convenient location while also being right by the sea and directly opposite Galle Face green as if it's own front lawn. Staff were always friendly and housekeeping is superb! I WILL definitely be staying here again! Remember, if you travel Sri Lanka...then you want something unique and locally relevant to the identity of the country and its rich past- this hotel does the trick here! What superb value for money.

Excellent stay if you like to stay in a hotel with its own distinctive character”
This hotel has a story, a heritage, a character. Its not a luxury hotel that ticks all the 'luxury' checkboxes. Its much more. this hotel has seen history happening. it has been a part of that history. And they take pride in displaying it. While we stayed for only a short time, the museum manager make the time to take us around and show us all the part of this half-hotel, half museum what happened here, who visited, some artifacts, and some stories. If you like a cookie-cutter five star, this is not your hotel, But if you are interested in the tapestry that makes up Sri Lankan history, you can see a little bit of it in this hotel, and be happy that you stayed.

Wonderful, safe stay”
We're a family of four and we stayed 3 nights at Galle Face Hotel when we first arrived in Sri Lanka, as a COVID-safe place to isolate after a long international flight. True to our expectations, it was the perfect place, likely the most COVID-safe hotel in all of Colombo. All staff were always masked, both indoors and outdoors, they have 4 wonderful restaurants, which are all outdoors, and we were able to be out in the fresh open ocean air during most of our stay. The location is of course just perfect - right next to the ocean, and the hotel has lovely lounge chairs and day beds set up by the ocean. The food was excellent in all restaurants, and the staff were fantastic - extremely courteous, well-trained and obliging; they even scheduled the room cleanings around our very jet lagged schedule. We couldn't recommend Galle Face Hotel more highly as a destination in Colombo.

Excepcional”
I asked and paid for for an ocean view room. I was given a room on the 2nd floor that overlooked Galle Face Green , the main road , the building works of the new city port and a small bit of the Indian Ocean. I was expecting a room will a full ocean view. Our room however had a balcony . At night there were noises from the road and the building works. We were offered complimentary drinks during happy hour. Perhaps this was to compensate for the room. On the whole an excellent hotel and good experience.

Superb”
Wonderful stay at an absolutely top class establishment. Our junior suite was beautiful, quiet and with a view of the sea. There was all the facilities one could imagine, including a lovely deep 30m swimming pool, good restaurants (we didn’t bother eating anywhere else in four days), and the service was friendly and generally excellent from everyone. We thought the Galle Face Hotel, would be good, but it exceeded our expectations.

Fantastic hotel, great location and beautiful charachteristic building. Rooms were clean and comfy. Service was very good. Breakfast and restaurants with large variety of food and dishes. Swimming pool and terraces with great sunset view. Highly recommended!

Historic Beauty ”
Our second stay at this marvellous hotel. Wondering how it would be in the Covid world… we couldn’t have enjoyed our stay anymore. Few travellers at the minute meant the staff allowed an early check-in and a late checkout. We enjoyed the saltwater pool to get over the overnight flight, breakfast is just a delight sitting on the veranda and the travellers bar steeped in history. We particularly liked the small plate menu at the fire beach bar at the pool. Almost forgot… we were upgraded to a suite…

I have stayed at the Galle Face Hotel a number of times. It is simply the best. The hotel is well kept and beautifully appointed in colonial style. The staff is professional, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast buffet has numerous choices and is delicious. The back of the Hotel provides a perfect view of the famous Sri Lankan sunsets.

We had high expectations to the visit, and having been here six years ago we wanted to see if it was as good this time as then. Which it was. The room was perhaps a bit small with a kid this time (Superior with Queen bed) but the service is excellent and this really sets the bar on what a five star hotel ought to be.

A lovely experience in this colonial gem ”
We had three nights at the Galle Face as part of a two week trip to Sri Lanka. It was lovely . The room was clean and well equipped with good amount of space . The buffet breakfast and dinners were good value with lots of quality and choice . They also have a nice bar restaurant , overlooks the restaurant with BBQ food and Cuban music . We ate at the hotel for all meals and stayed by the pool too - which is unusual for us but it was a such a nice atmosphere we decided to chill out . Definitely recommend staying here whilst in Sri Lanka

Yet again the Galle Face delivers the most fantastic destination in Colombo. The staff are over the top helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The bars and restaurant are fantastic and the fine dining 1864 restaurant is a real treat. Make it a must during your next visit and make sure you check out the wine cellar.

Great value for money - strange staff”
Pros: beautiful colonial building, upgraded to a suite, free snacks in the minibar, ocean view, convenient location near galle face green Cons: arrived at 1am, only one person working check-in so took 20 minutes to get through the line of people checking in, house-keeping staff incessantly knocked on the door when I was sleeping and kept unlocking and coming in, then closing the door and repeatedly knocking until I would come to the door and tell them to come back later. If a guest doesn’t want to be disturbed, just come back later.... They would also forget to lock the room after cleaning.
