Más sobre Habu

The Cameron Highlands region is part of Malaysia’s most famous hill station, and it takes between four and five hours to get here from Kuala Lumpur. This makes hotels in the Cameron Highlands region popular with domestic and international tourists alike, with both coming to escape the lowland heat during the hot season.

The region was named after the British surveyor who led the colonial initiative up here. He was followed by Chinese farmers who started tea plantations and other produce farms here in the highlands. Even today, sites like Raju’s Hill Strawberry Farms, Ee Feng Gu Honey Bee Farms and several vegetable farms are favorite attractions. Farther north along Highway 59 is Bharat Tea Plantation followed by the Cameron Highlands Butterfly Farm and floral gardens. All of these plantations operate gift shops where visitors can pick up gourmet food products. Many also have walking paths for leisurely afternoon strolls.

Hotels in Cameron Highlands region enjoy views of Gunung Brinchang, a 2,000-meter peak. ‘Trail 1’ departs from the town center and ascends to the top of the mountain. It’s an easy hike to the top, and visitors in moderate shape can complete the one-way journey in a little over two hours. From here, it’s possible to visit Robinson Waterfall or to follow the trail down the opposite side of Gunung Brinchang to a tea plantation where buses pick up passengers and deliver them back to the Brinchang town once every hour.

Away from the charms of the colonial-era hill station is the Orang Asli Village, where indigenous people lived long before the British arrived. This particular group of Orang Asli is the Semai tribe, and they entertain and educate tourists through exhibitions and cultural programs that illustrate their culture and way of life.
